Chapter 152 The Fat Girl in the Mountain Village 12

Wang Miaomiao smiled when she heard the compliment. She had practiced archery in an archery hall for many years, so it was understandable that she had good accuracy, but she really didn't deserve the compliment.

She said, "Brother Dayong, what you taught me is also very powerful. I am not as good as you."

Wang Yong felt a little uncomfortable when he heard the compliment. He smiled and shook his head, saying, "You learn so quickly. If you teach me for a few more days, I won't have anything to teach you."

"Once a teacher, always a father. Brother Dayong, you have taught me for the past few days, and in my heart you will always be my master. What does it matter if you taught me for a few days?"

When Wang Miaomiao said this, her eyes were full of sincerity. Wang Yong couldn't help but be moved by her expression and said, "What you said, girl, I don't want to be on the same generation as my uncle. Let's go."

He walked briskly in front, and Wang Miaomiao followed behind with a chuckle.

When the two of them walked back to the village, it was sunset and the sky was filled with evening glow. The gorgeous sky looked very beautiful.

Wang Miaomiao and Wang Yong separated at the intersection, carrying the prey.

She returned home with a smile on her face. When she pushed the door open and was about to speak, she heard faint crying sounds coming from inside the house.

What’s going on?!

Wang Miaomiao frowned slightly, feeling an ominous premonition in her heart. She then quickly walked into the yard, put down the prey, and hurried into the house.

CRACK——

The door made a slight sound when she pushed it open.

Wang Miaomiao pushed the door open and saw her mother, Li, sitting inside with tears on her face. When she saw her come in, she quickly wiped her tears and said, "Miaomiao, you're back?"

Li forced a smile, with a hint of bitterness on her face.

"Mom, what happened?" She stepped forward, held Li's hand, and spoke softly.

When Mrs. Li heard her daughter's words, the forced smile on her face completely faded. She choked with sobs and said, "Miao Miao, your grandpa and grandma... they're gone..."

"Grandpa, grandma?" Wang Miaomiao asked in confusion.

Her mother, Li, was from the neighboring village of Dahe, not far from Dashi Village, and they would visit from time to time on weekdays.

A few days ago, she had sent some wild boar meat from hunting in the mountains over there. She remembered that everyone was fine at that time. How could it be gone all of a sudden?!

Li held her hand tightly and then spoke, "Your uncle came this afternoon with a message saying... he suddenly disappeared after being attacked by bandits, and not even his body was left behind..."

Wang Miaomiao comforted her heartbroken mother, thought for a moment and said, "Mom, since we haven't found the body, maybe grandpa and grandma are still alive. Why don't we go to my uncle's house together to ask about the situation when Dad comes back?"

Upon hearing this, Li wanted to say it was impossible, but she couldn't help but let this word evoke a little thought in her heart. She hesitated and said, "Okay, wait for your father to come back, and we will go and see the situation tomorrow."

Wang Miaomiao looked at the time and said, "Mom, then you should rest in the house for a while. We can discuss it when Dad comes back."

After crying bitterly, Li's mood calmed down and she nodded wearily when she heard the words.

Wang Miaomiao felt relieved when she saw this. She got up and went out, closing the door and letting her mother rest in the room.

She went to the stove and prepared the family's afternoon meal, waiting for Old Man Wang and Wang Yi to come back and eat so that they could discuss this matter quickly.

"Miao Miao, what are you doing..."

Li cheered up from her depressed mood and remembered that the meal at home had not been cooked yet. She took it and went out of the house and saw her daughter busy in front of the stove. She couldn't help feeling warm in her heart.

"Mom, just wait in the yard. I have already prepared dinner." Wang Miaomiao said with a smile.

Li nodded with emotion and said, "Okay, mother, wait outside."

Having said that, Li still took out the bowls and chopsticks and placed them on the wooden table in the yard outside.

After Old Man Wang and the other man came back, the family had dinner and Li told them what had happened at the table.

After listening to this, Father Wang glanced at his wife, Mrs. Li, whose expression was filled with melancholy, and said, "Tomorrow morning, let's go to your mother's house together to check on the situation."

Li nodded.

The next day.

As the morning light broke, Old Man Wang took Mrs. Li and Wang Miaomiao and set off early for Dahe Village.

Dahe Village means exactly what its name suggests. There is a big river in the village, and most of the houses built by the villagers are near the river.

Li's parents' home was near the river bank. The three of them walked into the village and headed towards Li's home. They found that unlike the last time they came, the village was now sparsely populated and had changed its appearance in a short time.

Seeing the Li family's gate from afar, Li took two quick steps forward and knocked on the door.

Boom boom boom——

"Brother! Sister-in-law! Is anyone there?"

"Here I come, here I come."

A plump woman came out upon hearing the noise. When she saw Wang Miaomiao and the other two at the door, she asked in surprise, "Cui'er, why are you here?"

This woman was Li’s elder sister-in-law, Gu, and the “Cui’er” mentioned by Gu was Li’s name.

"Sister-in-law, is my brother here?" Li asked.

Gu said, "I'm at home, come in."

Wang Miaomiao followed behind and entered the yard. The yard with earthen walls was not very big and the houses were a bit low. There was a well in the yard with a wooden basin next to it. There was nothing else.

The three of them did not go into the house, but found a few wooden benches in the yard to sit down. Gu went in and called her husband Li Wang out.

A moment later, a tall, thin man with a tired look on his face walked out.

After listening to Old Man Wang's explanation of his purpose, Li Wang sighed, squatted on the ground, and said, "This is a long story."

"Dad, Mom, we're not sure if he's gone, but the possibility of him coming back is very small."

"Those bandits were barbarians from the west who came to plunder the village. They were strong on horseback and tied up many villagers like livestock and took them away. The town officials didn't care, and we ordinary people were weak and powerless and there was nothing we could do."
