Outside the diagnostic room.
Father Yun stood in the corridor with a worried look on his face, pacing back and forth at the half-open door a few steps away. He raised his hand several times but hesitated to withdraw it, and never walked into the room.
At this moment, the door of the diagnosis room opened from the inside.
The doctor in a white coat came out and sent the patient's family away. He turned around and looked at Yun's father standing outside the door. He smiled with some doubt and said, "Mr. Yun, is there something you want to talk to me about?"
"Doctor Jiang." Yun's father smiled awkwardly when he heard this, but when he looked down and saw several bills in his hand, he couldn't move.
Dr. Jiang is Yunmu's attending physician. He has worked in the hospital for more than ten years and has rich experience in dealing with various situations encountered by patients' families. He followed Yun's father's gaze and saw the payment slips and understood something.
"Mr. Yun, let's go in and talk!"
He calmly extended his hand to Yun's father to invite him.
"Okay." Father Yun nodded awkwardly and followed Dr. Jiang in.
The door of the diagnosis room was ajar. Doctor Jiang sat down behind the examination table and smiled at Yun's father. "Mr. Yun, please sit down and talk. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Father Yun was tall and had a dark complexion that made him look very powerful, but his face was flushed, a rare color.
He stammered after a few trembling movements, "Doctor Jiang, I just went to the lobby to pay the hospital bill, but I don't have that much cash on hand. The money for the surgery and hospitalization..."
Doctor Jiang understood that his guess was correct, and he spoke with a gentle expression:
"Mr. Yun, your wife's condition requires quite a bit of money, so it's normal that you don't have enough cash on hand at the moment. I can help you negotiate the hospital's fees, and you only need to pay the full amount before the surgery."
"Doctor Jiang, thank you for your help." Father Yun's face was excited when he heard this, and he smiled gratefully at Doctor Jiang who was sitting in front of him.
Then Father Yun shyly asked, "Doctor Jiang, besides this fee, I'd also like to know how much chemotherapy will cost after the surgery?"
"The cost of subsequent treatment will depend on the patient..."
The voices of Dr. Jiang and Mr. Yun explaining came through the half-open door.
Yun Ranran was standing outside the diagnosis room, separated by a wall. She could hear the conversation between the two people very clearly, and her emotions were mixed like an overturned seasoning bottle.
She originally knew the location of Yun's father from Tian Miaomiao, and came upstairs to find Yun's father. Unexpectedly, she happened to overhear the conversation between Yun's father and the doctor.
money.
Although her family was not wealthy, Yun's father and mother had never neglected her since she was a child, and she had no idea of the importance of money.
Now that Yunmu is seriously ill, the first problem standing in front of them is something they have never considered before. Yun Ranran lowered her head and took a step back, feeling a little helpless.
"Doctor Jiang, thank you for your help."
"It's okay, it's okay. Everyone has difficulties, and we understand each other."
The conversation between Yun's father and the doctor inside the door was nearing its end, and their footsteps were getting closer and closer to the door.
When Yun Ranran heard the sound, she panicked and wanted to find a place to hide. She looked up and scanned the surroundings and saw a stairwell a few steps away. She walked lightly and hid in it as quickly as possible.
Just as she hid, the door of the diagnosis room was opened and Yun's father walked out.
The corridor was extremely quiet. After Yun's father came out, he frowned and sighed, then walked towards the elevator with heavy steps. He didn't pay attention to anything else along the way, nor did he notice Yun Ranran hiding behind the stairwell door.
bite!
The elevator signal sounded and Father Yun stepped into the elevator.
Yun Ranran, who was hiding behind the stairwell door, also felt relieved and stood up from the ground.
She stood up and leaned against the wall and breathed a sigh of relief, but she smelled a faint smell of cigarette smoke in the stairwell. She didn't like the smell and frowned in disgust and covered her nose with her hand.
"Oh."
Just then, Yun Ranran heard a chuckle in the corridor.
She looked up in the direction where the laughter came from, but saw a person standing at the corner of the stairs not far away. In the dim light, she could only see that the person was leaning on the railing with his hands, smoking a cigarette, and his eyes seemed to be looking in her direction.
The voice-controlled light in the corridor was not on, so Yun Ranran couldn't see the man's face clearly, nor did she know how long he had been standing there. However, her intuition told her that she should know him.
"What are you laughing at?"
She asked out of curiosity.
As he finished speaking, the voice-activated lights in the corridor lit up, and the cold white light illuminated every corner of the corridor.
Yun Ranran looked up and saw the man standing at the corner of the stairwell.
"...Jiang Yan, why...why are you here?" After seeing clearly, she opened her eyes wide in shock, and it took her a long time to find her voice.
At the corner of the stairs, Jiang Yan was standing there in light-colored casual clothes, looking at Yun Ranran with a gloomy look in his eyes, with a half-burned cigarette pinched between his slender white fingers.
After hearing her words, he raised his eyebrows without any fluctuation on his face, but the corners of his lips curled slightly, and he spoke in a cold and playful voice:
"What's wrong with me here?"
Yun Ranran liked Jiang Yan, especially his pair of cold black eyes, which always made her feel dangerous and mysterious. Now that she was being stared at like that, she felt a little at a loss.
She pursed her lips, half-lowered her eyes to avoid Jiang Yan's gaze, and then spoke as if to explain: "No problem, I... have something else to do, so I'll leave first."
The more he spoke, the softer his voice became, and the more power he lost.
“Heh~”
Jiang Yan was amused by Yun Ranran's behavior of running away as if she had seen a ghost. He chuckled and said, "You used to chase me every day and said you liked me. How come you don't like me anymore after just a few days?"
