CRACK——
"Sister, you're back."
It was late at night. Yun Chen heard the door open and rubbed his eyes. He sat up from the sofa with a dazed look and saw Yun Ranran who had just stepped into the living room.
In the afternoon, Yunchen was tired from playing at home alone. He didn't know when he fell asleep on the sofa. When he woke up, his body felt a little numb and his movements were a little slow.
Yun Ranran, who had just walked in, saw Yun Chen staggering to the ground and went over to help him, reminding him:
"Come down slowly, don't rush, be careful not to miss a step."
After she finished speaking, Yun Chen was helped down from the sofa with his short legs and landed steadily on the ground.
Standing there, Yun Chen looked at Yun Ranran with a somewhat aggrieved expression and pouted, rubbing his stomach and complaining softly: "Sister, Chenchen didn't eat, I'm a little hungry."
"Hmm..." When Yun Ranran heard this, she also remembered that the little guy hadn't eaten anything by this time in the afternoon and must have been hungry. She should have come back early to make dinner in the evening, but who knew that something happened to Yun's father again -
"Chenchen, eat some cookies here first, and then we'll eat."
Yun Ranran took out some remaining bear biscuits at home and placed them in front of Yun Chen, letting the little guy eat some to fill his stomach. Then she went into the kitchen to cook for the two of them.
After running back and forth all afternoon, she felt a little hungry, so she simply cooked two bowls of fragrant egg noodles for the two of them.
After the noodles were cooked, the brother and sister ate them with big mouthfuls and soon finished all the noodles in the bowl.
Yun Ranran took Yun Chen to wash up, watched him lie on the bed and fall asleep after eating and drinking, then turned around and went back to her bedroom to rest.
The moonlight outside the window now shines into the room through the glass, so even with the lights turned off it is not completely dark.
Yun Ranran lay alone in bed covered with a quilt for a long time without falling asleep.
She stared blankly at the ceiling with her eyes open, recalling the scenes that happened in the afternoon.
Jiang Yan has changed a lot, becoming an especially unfamiliar figure; Yun's father is in a coma in the hospital; Yun's mother is about to undergo surgery; and... the analysis of the police officers in the police station.
"Miao Miao, you said I can trust Jiang Yan..."
Perhaps the night was too quiet, Yun Ranran suddenly spoke at a certain moment and told Tian Miaomiao her hesitation.
When Tian Miaomiao heard this, she felt somewhat surprised.
She always had a vague intuition that Yun Ranran and Jiang Yan would be entangled with each other, just like the trajectory in Yun Ranran's memory, going around in circles and then intersecting.
So, after hearing Yun Ranran's words, Tian Miaomiao didn't feel much emotion.
She calmly stated her conclusion: "I don't recommend you agree directly to Jiang Yan's proposal."
The tone of these words was so cold that Yun Ranran was directly poured with a basin of cold water.
"Why? Is it... because of the proposal you mentioned earlier?"
Yun Ranran's mouth reacted faster than her brain, and there was a hint of doubt in her tone when she spoke, but she regretted it as soon as she opened her mouth.
She shouldn't and didn't want to make such malicious speculations.
Miaomiao, who has been by her side, has been helping her overcome various difficulties and helping her with her studies since she appeared. How could she say such words and hurt the trust between them?
Unfortunately, once the words are spoken, it is impossible to take them back.
"Is that what you think of me?"
Tian Miaomiao was slightly startled, and her tone lowered a few degrees.
At this moment, she suddenly realized that she had overestimated her own importance.
Even the closest relationship does not mean there is no doubt, not to mention that the relationship between her and Yun Ranran is not close.
"Miao Miao, no, that's not what I meant just now, I..."
"I don't want you to agree directly because the conditions he gave you are too vague."
Tian Miaomiao didn't wait for Yun Ranran to explain. She had already calmed down and continued the previous topic.
"I...Miaomiao, what do you think I should do?"
Yun Ranran regretted what she had just said, and her tone softened.
She wanted to make amends and please the other party, and no longer insisted on her original plan.
Tian Miaomiao noticed her thoughts and said in an unchanged tone:
"If you want to agree to Jiang Yan's so-called help, go talk to him first and agree on what he wants you to do and how long it will take."
“Things without a clear price tag are often the most expensive, and unspoken agreements are often even more costly.”
"Well, I'll listen to you."
Yun Ranran's confused mind calmed down, and she realized that every word was spoken with her consideration, so she agreed immediately.
Tian Miaomiao didn't react much to this. She just said "hmm" lightly and didn't say anything else.
As the night deepened, Yun Ranran, no matter how many things were on her mind, finally couldn't resist the sleepiness and fell asleep.
Early the next morning.
As soon as the sky brightened and a few rays of sunlight appeared, Yun Ranran was awakened by the alarm clock set on the bedside table.
She was worried about Yun's father lying alone in the hospital, so she planned to go to the hospital early in the morning to check on him.
As for Yunchen staying at home alone, she was worried, so she took him to the hospital.
"Sister, where are we going?"
Yun Chen was woken up early. He was dazed while getting dressed and washing up. He only woke up when he was dragged outside to enjoy the cold wind.
There is a constant flow of traffic on the road in the early morning, and the red and green lights are changing.
Yun Ranran held his little hand tightly, paying attention to the cars on both sides while explaining while crossing the road.
"Let's go to the hospital to see Mom and bring her some food."
"Hmm? Go see mom?!"
Yunchen was a little excited when he heard this. He hadn't seen Yunmu for a while.
He walked forward excitedly with his short legs, saying:
"Sister, let's hurry up and don't let mom go hungry."
Yun Ranran was dragged forward a few steps. Looking at Yun Chen's energetic appearance, she couldn't help but smile.
"Chenchen, don't walk so fast. It's too early. Mommy hasn't woken up yet."
"Oh, all right."
The brother and sister returned to normal speed, packed a bowl of fish porridge, two cups of soy milk and some buns and went to the hospital.
Fish porridge is for Yunmu, soy milk and buns are for her and her younger brother Yunchen.
The hospital is still quiet and clean, and the sunlight shining on the corridor looks very beautiful.
When Yun Ranran walked to the door of the ward, she saw Yunmu lying on the bed, looking at the scenery outside the window in the sun, with a faint smile on her thin and disfigured face.
"Mom, Chenchen is here to see you."
Yunchen ran into the ward excitedly, and his voice caught Yunmu's attention.
"Chenchen, why are you here?"
Yun Ranran saw that Yunmu’s smile deepened when she saw Yun Chen, and she walked over and put down what she was holding.
Smiling, he said, "Chenchen must be bored at home alone, so I'll bring him over for a walk."
After Yun Ranran finished speaking, she laid out the things and turned around and said, "Chenchen, come and have breakfast."
"Mom, come and eat some too."
"Yeah, okay."
Yunmu and Yunchen were eating together. Yunchen chattered from time to time, which made Yunmu laugh out loud.
Seeing this, Yun Ranran quietly went out, turned around and went downstairs to the hospital's nursing room.
When he got there, he found that the bed where Yun's father was lying was empty.
