Chapter 7 Transmigrated into the Perfect Aunt in a Historical Novel

"Get up, everyone! Eldest daughter, it's your turn to cook today, so get up now!" Early in the morning, the old lady of the Su family was banging a basin loudly.

Su Er looked at Mo Qian, who was still half-asleep and couldn't open her eyes. She had a few tufts of hair sticking up on her head, which made her look rather cute.

"It's still early, lie down and keep sleeping." Without Su Er saying anything, Mo Qian skillfully put the homemade earplugs she had prepared into her ears, covered her head, and continued to sleep.

"Honey, wake up! Quickly eat the brown sugar eggs while they're still hot. I put in a handful of sugar, they're super sweet!"

Su Er went to the fields, then went to his mother's room and pried open the cabinet with a wire. He took out brown sugar and eggs and made a bowl especially for his wife.

"Not bad, not bad, you're quite capable, no wonder I took a liking to you." Mo Qian praised him while eating brown sugar eggs. The more you praise someone, the more delicious food they'll have in the future, haha, this is a worthwhile deal.

"That's right. If they don't take advantage, won't it just benefit the other families? Except for the third family, who doesn't fight much, none of the other families are easy to deal with."

After finishing breakfast, Mo Qian and Su Er carried two baskets on their backs and went to the back mountain.

"Su Er, Su Er's wife, you're carrying baskets to the back mountain, but please don't go too far in, there are herds of wild boars in the deep mountains!"

"Aunt Zhang, we're just going to pick some wild vegetables on the outskirts; we can't go deep into the mountains," Su Er said, waving his hand.

"Honey, would you like to eat fish? I know a small stream in the mountains with pretty big fish there."

Su Er grinned and swayed as he walked, thinking to himself that he was going to let his wife know that she would have good fortune if she followed him.

"You're so capable, you're the best! Hurry up and let's go! I brought salt and seasonings with me before leaving. The back mountain is really a great place, haha!"

Mo Qian was thinking about being able to eat fish later, and she almost took two steps at a time. Although resources were scarcer in the 1970s compared to the 21st century, happiness was a hundred or a thousand times greater than in the apocalypse.

After finishing their fish, Mo Qian and Su Er casually picked a few handfuls of wild vegetables on their way back to avoid being scolded by the old lady when they got home. It was better to avoid trouble.

"Laidi, Pandi, why are the clothes still in the basin unwashed? They're almost spoiled! The pigs in the sty are squealing with hunger, can't you hear them?"

As soon as Mo Qian entered the door, she saw Bai Shi lecturing the female protagonist and her two sisters.

"They don't give us any food or clothing, but they think of us when it comes to work. If you complain about too much work, then don't take the jobs the other departments dump on you!"

"We'll let you work, but you have to take back everything we gave to my uncle's family. If you can't take it back, you'll have to pay compensation for what you can't get back," the female protagonist argued with Bai Shi.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed? You gave it to your uncle and now you want it back? How can you be so greedy?" With that, Bai Shi slapped the female lead hard across the face.

Oh wow, seeing that there was going to be some excitement, Mo Qian picked up a small stool and sat under the tree, eating melon seeds and watching the fun with Su Er.

"Go ahead and hit me, try hitting me again!" The female lead stared sharply at Bai Shi, who froze on the spot. After realizing what was happening, she was about to slap him.

"What are you all doing? Coming back at midday, have you cooked yet? Bai told you to come back and cook, have you cooked yet? Everyone's been working hard all morning and is waiting to eat."

Before even entering the door, the old lady of the Su family had already taken the initiative and made Bai Shi lower her hand, which was about to hit someone.

"Third sister-in-law, hurry up and serve the food. You've been hungry all morning. You only had a cornbread bun for breakfast, which isn't filling."

"Mother, I forgot to cook. It's all because of this brat! He didn't even wash his clothes, and he ran out as soon as he got up this morning without even cutting pig feed," Bai said timidly.

"What? The whole family has been starving all morning, and you forgot? Are you blind? Everyone else's chimneys are already smoking, and you forgot!"

"The clothes and other chores are all assigned to you, don't push them all onto the three sisters. Hurry up and cook, or you'll be late for work this afternoon, or I'll skin you alive!" The old lady of the Su family was so angry that she jumped up and down.

"Yes, Mother, I'm going right now," Bai said timidly as she ran towards the kitchen, even managing to slip and fall on the ground halfway there.

"Here we go again. When others see this, they make up stories about me bullying her. I get angry whenever I see her looking unwell."

"Grandma, here, have a drink of water." The female protagonist scooped up a ladle of water from the well and handed it to the old lady of the Su family.

"Did the sun rise in the west? Even someone as quiet as me knows to bring me water now?" Old Mrs. Su exclaimed in surprise.

Previously, Su Laidi had always been an invisible person in the Su family, never speaking and always helping Bai Shi with chores. She was not good with words. Her outburst at the dinner table before made people wonder if it was because she couldn't stand being oppressed by her mother, which was why she acted so out of character.

"Grandma, I misunderstood before. You are my elder, it's only right that I bring you water."

Seeing that the female lead was acting out of character and starting to fawn over the old lady, Mo Qian guessed that she had seen through Bai Shi's true colors and was seeking support from the person in charge of the family.

Otherwise, given that the female protagonist was only eleven or twelve years old, she really wouldn't have been able to get past the Bai family. This was an era when, without a letter of introduction, one couldn't even leave the town.

If the family splits up, the female lead will fall into the hands of the Bai family, and it would be strange if she wasn't skinned alive and exploited by them.

At home, the third wife, Su San, isn't assertive and doesn't seem to care much about her daughter. Right now, the female lead is probably the least willing to separate from the family. If they do separate, without the old lady of the Su family keeping the third branch in check, the female lead might even be sold to the Bai family for money.

However, the old lady wasn't easily fooled. The female lead wanted to start a pastry business, and the family could benefit too. Haha, they wouldn't have to work hard for the rest of their lives, just lazing around drinking soup and relaxing after the female lead. Just thinking about it makes me happy...

"Grandma, are you asleep? I need to tell you something."

"What are you doing up so late at night? Why do you need me to open the door for you? Come in."

Mo Qian heard a few knocks on the door. Luckily, I have superpowers and my body has been strengthened, otherwise I probably wouldn't have noticed such a small sound.
