"You guys, hurry up and carry this man to the cabin!"
Gradually, Lin Xue heard voices ahead. From the tone of their voices, she could tell that these people were definitely not good people.
"Boss, why is this guy following us? Did he discover our secret?"
It was a somewhat timid voice, and upon hearing it, Lin Xue pictured a short and thin figure.
"We've kept things so secret, how could this person possibly have found out?"
"Judging by his attire, he's probably not from our town. Maybe he's some old fool who's come here to experience rural life!"
The man called "boss" spat on the spot, and then a disdainful voice came from behind him.
"Let's hurry up and get going, stop talking nonsense!"
"Aren't we short-handed over there? We can take this person with us to work as a laborer!"
Lin Xue hung at a distance from these people, and gradually she was able to see the situation ahead clearly.
There were six people in the front row, one of whom was fat and had big ears, looking like Maitreya Buddha. He must be the leader of this group.
Following behind was a short, thin man with shifty eyes; he must be the timid man who had spoken earlier.
The other men were mostly of medium build, except for one who was quite tall and had a face as black as a donkey's testicle.
Judging from their skin color, they do not belong to the same ethnic minority.
Lin Xue also wanted to see where the cabin they mentioned was, so she followed the people in front of her, occasionally dropping something to help the two young comrades behind her find their way.
As they ventured deeper, they strayed far from the original path and headed towards a more secluded fork in the road.
Before turning into the fork in the road, Lin Xue found a piece of paper and wrote a line with a ballpoint pen.
A group of six men carried the unconscious Captain Gu to the cabin. They mentioned a gang and laborers; this is not a simple matter. Requesting backup!
After writing these few lines, Lin Xue placed the note in a conspicuous place.
Logically speaking, those two young policemen should be catching up soon, so Lin Xue wasn't worried that the note would be discovered by others.
After passing through countless intersections, the person in front of him finally stopped.
"Good heavens, we've finally arrived at our destination!"
"Amu, go check the neighborhood for anything unusual!"
The fat man plopped down on a wooden post in front of the cabin.
He gave an order to the short man, then sat there panting heavily.
Sure enough, the fat man's stamina was lacking; he was the one panting the most among the group.
Lin Xue crouched at a corner, observing the situation, but she dared not approach rashly.
It wasn't because they couldn't beat these people, but because Gu Minglei was still in their hands.
What if they try to use Gu Minglei as a hostage to blackmail her? If something goes wrong, how will she explain it to Lei Jing?
"Boss, everything is normal around here!"
After a while, the short man returned to the fat man's side and said respectfully.
"It's good that there's nothing unusual. You guys open the cabin. We haven't been here for several days. I need to go and check on the situation over there myself!"
The fat man's words left Lin Xue somewhat confused.
Could there be a secret passage in this wooden house that leads to other places?
"Yes, boss!"
After the fat man finished speaking, a tall, thin man took out a bunch of keys from his pocket, carefully picked out one, and opened the door of the cabin.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..."
Just then, Lin Xue heard footsteps behind her, along with a heavy breathing sound.
"Captain Liu, where did Xiao Zheng go?"
Lin Xue glanced at the young comrade who had followed her, but didn't see Xiao Zheng, so she asked him a question.
"We found the note you left at the intersection. I sent Xiao Zheng back to gather more people!"
Captain Liu was breathing heavily, but he managed to keep his breathing from getting too loud, and his face was flushed red.
"I just overheard these people saying they need to get to another place through this cabin, so there must be a secret passage inside!"
Lin Xue told Captain Liu what she had discovered, then looked at him strangely.
"Hey Captain Liu, don't you ever take your phone with you when you go out? Why don't you just call the guys in the station and tell them to come over? Why make Xiao Zheng run around like this?"
Upon hearing Lin Xue's question, Captain Liu was clearly taken aback.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out an old cell phone.
"I...I forgot!"
Captain Liu held his phone, looking at Lin Xue with an embarrassed expression.
"Let's just forget about it. But Captain Lin, I think this group is not simple. There might be some conspiracy behind this that we don't know about!"
"Why don't you walk back a couple more steps and find a quiet place to call our brothers?"
"Tell Xiao Zheng not to go back either, just have him come back. We'll definitely be going with him then!"
"We have no choice but to send someone to guard outside!"
Lin Xue watched as the fat man stood up from the wooden stump, seemingly about to enter the cabin.
"Okay, I'll go find a place to make a call. Comrade Lin, you stay here for now. Don't rush in. We'll discuss it when we get back and decide what to do next!"
After being reminded by Lin Xue, Captain Liu stopped wasting time.
