Chapter 27 The Era of the Brother-Supporting Demon (Part 27)

"The noodles are ready, hurry up and eat!"

Lin Xue brought the scallion and egg noodles to Old Mrs. Lin, and Lin Dabao, who had been waiting at the door, came running in as soon as he smelled the aroma.

"Little sister, what delicious food have you made? It smells so good!"

His stomach had been rumbling from the irresistible aroma for a while.

The little bit of thin soup I drank at noon wasn't enough to fill me up.

Now that he smells the delicious aroma of pork lard, eggs, and scallion noodles, how could he possibly resist?

The saliva secreted in my mouth was swallowed one mouthful and then produced another.

"Why is it that when Mother is sick, I'm making her some good food, and I have to share half with my older brother?"

Lin Xue looked at Lin Dabao with disapproval.

He stuffed the noodles in his hand into Old Mrs. Lin's hand.

"Mother, eat up! Eat big bites! I want to see who dares to steal this food from you!"

Lin Xue had already spotted several heads peeking out from outside the courtyard wall; they must be some gossipy women eavesdropping.

So she spoke louder and louder, as if afraid others wouldn't know she had made something delicious for her mother.

After all, there was plenty of oil and water, and the aroma could be smelled for miles around.

The fact that Lin Dabao, who is perfectly healthy, tried to steal food from his sick mother should be publicized to the Lin family!

"Little sister, that's not what I meant!"

"I was just asking if you had any extra?"

Grandma Lin's favorite child was Lin Dabao.

Both of her sons had gone to work, but Lin Dabao was often absent from work, and Old Mrs. Lin couldn't bear to say a word to him about it.

It's easy to imagine that Lin Dabao was truly the apple of Old Mrs. Lin's eye.

"I'm sick and don't have much of an appetite, so why don't you share some with your older brother?"

Seeing her eldest son's greedy look, Old Mrs. Lin felt a little sorry for him.

"Mom, you eat now, I'll watch you finish this bowl of noodles!"

"Don't worry, if my brother dares to snatch this piece of food from your hand, I'll risk my life to fight him today!"

Lin Xue rolled up her sleeves and glared angrily at Lin Dabao.

Hey, what's going on?

That's not what they meant!

Grandma Lin and Lin Dabao had countless question marks on their foreheads.

"Mom, you'd better eat now, or I won't take care of you anymore!"

Lin Xue pretended to take two steps toward the door so that the people outside could hear her more clearly.

"I'll eat it, okay? I'll eat it!"

Although she felt sorry for her eldest son, she thought that as long as she could win over Lin Xue, she could secretly make another one for her eldest son later.

With that in mind, Grandma Lin picked up her chopsticks and began to eat the noodles in large mouthfuls.

And you know what? With so much oil and broth, the noodles were exceptionally delicious. Grandma Lin even finished the last bit of soup in her bowl.

This made Lin Dabao, who was standing to the side, extremely envious, and his gaze toward Lin Xue became increasingly hostile!

"Sigh, my daughter really knows how to care for people!"

After finishing a large bowl of noodles with lard, eggs, and scallions, Grandma Lin let out a satisfied burp, patted her warm belly, and looked at Lin Xue with a gratified expression.

To this day, Grandma Lin still believes that this bowl of noodles was made from grains that Lin Xue brought over.

She never imagined that Lin Xue had used her own grain to cook this for her.

Outside the courtyard wall, several heads were huddled together, whispering and discussing something!

"I knew it! The Lin family's daughter is the most filial of all!"

"Who says otherwise? I wanted to marry such a wonderful girl for my youngest son, but the rest of the Lin family were too awful. I was afraid that marrying her would bring a bunch of vampires, so I gave up the idea!"

"My daughter is a good daughter, but it's a pity that those boys in the Lin family are no good!"

"Didn't you hear what Xue Ni was implying? It's that her sons are unwilling to feed their mother. It seems that Old Madam Lin's illness is probably caused by hunger!"

"Oh dear, what a terrible thing!"

"Alright, all of you shut up. Let's continue listening to what they're saying inside?"

Several gossipy women immediately fell silent and listened intently to what was happening inside.

"You brat, your Wang Guoqing earns so much salary, what's wrong with you taking some back to your parents' home?"

"Didn't you see that my family is starving? Are you just going to stand by and watch me die?"

"You heartless, damned bastard! Why doesn't God send down a bolt of lightning to kill you?!"

No one knows what was said inside, but soon the sound of Old Mrs. Lin cursing could be heard.

"Mother, you said you were sick, so I rushed back without stopping, serving you food and drink, but I didn't get anything in return. It turns out you were all lying?"

"You're so energetic, you don't look sick at all! How dare you fake illness to cheat my family out of money!"

"What do we have left to offer you as a token of our filial piety? Didn't you and your brothers steal the last bit of food we had?"

Then, Lin Xue's angry questioning voice came from inside the room.

The elderly women hiding outside the courtyard wall stared wide-eyed at each other in disbelief.

"Damn the Lin family, they won't be satisfied until they drain their daughter dry!" one of the older women said in disbelief.

"Luckily, we didn't ask her daughter to marry our youngest son back then, otherwise we would be the ones being ripped off!" Another old lady patted her chest in lingering fear.

"The Lin family is truly a bunch of scoundrels. Why doesn't God have eyes and strike them all down with lightning!"

"What a pity about Xue Ni!"
