The next morning, the village became lively after the rooster crowed only twice.
"Sizzle..."
The loudspeaker of the Qingliu Brigade, which had been unused for a long time, suddenly started crackling.
"Is something wrong today? Why is the village loudspeaker blaring?"
Someone asked a question, but unfortunately no one answered it for him.
"Green mountains stand closely connected, white clouds linger in the heart. Terraced fields stretch out in layers of green, and songs drift on the wind..."
As the beautiful singing came from the loudspeaker, the entire Qingliu Brigade fell silent for a moment.
The next second, the whole village erupted in excitement again.
"Did our brigade buy a radio?"
Some villagers asked the crucial question: "A radio is a big-ticket item. I haven't heard of anyone in the village buying one!"
"Hey, what's going on here?"
Some members were confused. Even if they wanted to buy a radio, shouldn't it be decided through discussion among the members?
"Although I don't know what's going on, it's still nice to hear such beautiful singing so early in the morning!"
Some members even curled their lips into a smile, no longer thinking about anything else, just enjoying the beautiful moment before them.
Sometimes beautiful songs would blare from the loudspeaker, sometimes the news would be broadcast, and occasionally a funny crosstalk performance would come out.
The members felt full of energy, and even their work speed was faster than before.
Once the work bell rang normally, no other sounds came out from the loudspeaker.
"Oh dear, why has it stopped?"
The villagers voiced their dissatisfaction, but since it was time to start work, no one dared to waste any time and headed to the fields.
Lin Xue had no idea what kind of lively scene was unfolding in the fields.
However, last night her mother-in-law, who has a loose tongue, went to the brigade leader's house to show off again.
Then, the transistor radio that was originally intended for Grandma Wang to listen to when she was bored was taken away by the brigade leader.
They euphemistically say, "It's better to share happiness than to enjoy it alone."
The plan is to put it out for half an hour in the morning and evening when the workers finish work.
Grandma Wang watched in disbelief as the radio she had just received was taken away by the brigade leader and his wife.
Why is she so foul-mouthed? Otherwise, wouldn't it be better for her to keep the radio at home and listen to it herself?
"Why!"
What could Lin Xue say? This is the karma you created, and you can only suffer the consequences yourself.
Finally, seeing how pitiful the old lady was, Lin Xue had no choice but to give her the repaired electric fan, which made the old lady's expression less unpleasant.
However, the old lady didn't take the electric fan home; instead, she left it with Lin Xue.
Although the village has had electricity for a long time, who would be willing to use it?
Only when there is absolutely no other way will people be willing to turn on the lights for a short while.
We used kerosene lamps whenever possible, and dared not waste any electricity.
Although the radio was gone, it left a deep impression on Grandma Wang.
That's because her third daughter-in-law is very skillful; she can turn anything into something useful!
This led to Old Mrs. Wang frequently bringing a pile of junk to their door in the days that followed.
This also gives Lin Xue plenty of things to play with in her spare time!
...
That night, Lin Xue was sleeping at home with her two children when she heard a knocking sound at the door.
"Sherry, I'm back! Open the door for me!"
Upon hearing the voice, Lin Xue knew that Wang Guoqing had returned.
She quickly got off the kang (a heated brick bed), put on her shoes, and went outside.
Why did you come back in the middle of the night again?
Lin Xue took the things from Wang Guoqing's hands, and then filled a basin with water for him to wash up a little.
Only then did he sit down in front of the kang (a heated brick bed) and ask curiously.
"Do you remember that self-propelled tricycle we made at the factory more than two weeks ago?"
Wang Guoqing got excited as soon as this was mentioned. He leaned close to Lin Xue mysteriously and asked slyly.
"What, has the bonus that Factory Director Li promised been paid out?"
Lin Xue raised an eyebrow. If Wang Guoqing hadn't brought it up, she would have forgotten that she was the one who paid for the parts back then.
But thinking about it, borrowing the factory's tools and welding machine and incurring that small expense isn't a big deal.
"It's not about this, but something else you would never expect!"
Wang Guoqing leaned against Lin Xue and sat on the edge of the railing, rubbing his body as close to Lin Xue as possible.
"Hurry up and tell me? Stop keeping me in suspense!"
Lin Xue ignored Wang Guoqing's actions.
"Why don't you guess? My wife is so smart, maybe she can figure it out!"
Wang Guoqing abandoned his usual handsome and composed image and clung to Lin Xue like a clingy pest.
"It's not about the bonus. You don't look like you've been punished by the factory. Could it be that your supervisor thinks highly of you and wants to promote you to a permanent position?"
Lin Xue continued to raise her eyebrows and voiced her guess.
"This has nothing to do with me. Guess again?"
Wang Guoqing knew his wife would think that way, but unfortunately he wasn't outstanding enough to be accepted by the factory through a special exception.
"So, what good news has happened to Master Chen?" Lin Xue continued to guess.
"No, no, guess again!"
Wang Guoqing shook his head vigorously, clinging to Lin Xue's arm and rubbing against her like a cat.
"It can't be that Director Li has taken a liking to me and wants to hire me as a worker in the factory, can it?"
