Only city workers could occasionally get some meat coupons to enjoy a taste of oil and fat, while those living in the countryside could only wait until the New Year to eat together as part of a collective meal.

"What could they possibly have to say, as long as you agree!"

Grandma Wang didn't expect Lin Xue to agree so readily.

Is it possible that her third daughter-in-law is really going to change for the better?

"Mom, we've been busy all morning, let's make some breakfast first!"

Lin Xue didn't care what the old lady was thinking; she was hungry anyway.

I glanced at the sky; it was already past 8 o'clock.

"Just make enough breakfast for your own family, I'll go home and eat breakfast before coming over!"

Old Mrs. Wang knew all too well about her third son's family situation. She felt too embarrassed to eat there and wanted to leave immediately.

"Mother, please don't leave!"

"Didn't you say you were going to come and help me? Well then, let's start now!"

Lin Xue grabbed Old Mrs. Wang's arm. She was counting on the old lady to help her take care of the child, so she couldn't let her just leave like that.

"I can come after I finish breakfast, it'll be the same!"

Grandma Wang twisted her arms back and forth a couple of times and found that her third daughter-in-law's hands were like iron clamps, and no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't shake them off.

"Mother, since Xue Ni asked you to stay for dinner, then don't leave!"

Wang Guoqing felt as sweet as if he had eaten honey when his wife invited his mother to stay for dinner for the first time.

His wife had finally learned a bit about social etiquette, and Wang Guoqing didn't want to dampen her enthusiasm.

He blinked hard at Old Mrs. Wang.

"Oh, you silly child! Since you're staying for dinner, I'll go pick some vegetables from the backyard. You start cooking the porridge first!"

Grandma Wang couldn't resist Lin Xue's strong hand, nor could she bear to refuse her son's good intentions.

I figured I could just bring the food rations over later.
