After a night's rest, everyone felt much better the next morning.
Even the elderly men and women who were exhausted yesterday got up this morning full of energy and went with everyone to search for wild vegetables nearby.
This area is a remote mountain forest, and there are more wild vegetables here than in other places.
No one cared whether the vegetables were old or young; they picked them all and stewed them into a pot of wild vegetable soup with hot broth.
After a simple breakfast, the group left the cliff and continued their journey in the direction chosen by Lin Xue.
She believed that wherever there were mountains and forests, there must be villages, since the outside world was too chaotic and many people had hidden in the mountains.
They walked in the mountains for three days before they found the first village.
There were many villagers in the village, and several children were guarding the entrance. When they saw them arrive, they all looked wary.
Children even came up to them and asked them where they came from and who they were.
Some children secretly slipped back to the village, seemingly to report to the adults.
Although the children were just ordinary children, they seemed to have been trained. They could fool others, but they couldn't fool Lin Xue.
A short while later, a group of people ran out of the village, some carrying guns and others carrying knives.
Upon seeing them, I first made a routine inquiry, and only after confirming that they were indeed ordinary people did I warmly welcome them.
"You all managed to escape from the Japanese devils, so you must be quite capable!"
"Especially Comrade Bai, if what you just said is true, then we might even know your son!"
Upon hearing this, Old Master Bai was immediately shocked.
He knew what his son did for a living, and since these people were saying that, they must be guerrillas.
Later, Old Man Bai spoke with those people privately, and the attitudes of both sides became much more friendly.
Lin Xue had no intention of spying on other people's privacy; she was simply settled in a place to rest and settled down there without any worries.
She is currently very weak and needs systematic treatment before she can continue her journey.
Even though her willpower was stronger than that of ordinary people, her body was still injured. If she continued to travel like this, her wounds might become infected and take her life one day.
After staying in this sparsely populated village for three days, Lin Xue finally managed to recover enough to continue her workout.
She spoke to the village leader, and after exchanging farewells, she left the village.
"Captain, you're just letting her go like this? What if this girl is an enemy spy? Wouldn't that bring disaster to our village?"
Looking at his captain's mature face, the young comrade next to him still hoped that his captain would retract his order and not let himself be blinded by women.
"This girl has clear and honest eyes; she doesn't look like a wicked person at all!"
"Moreover, she saved so many people. If she were a spy sent by the enemy, we would have been meeting our revolutionary martyrs long ago!"
Lin Xue didn't know what these people were saying, and she didn't care. She had to rush to Haishi to rescue Han Xue, who had been captured by the Japanese.
We must rescue the person before they completely compromise and become traitors.
Although the system did not mandate it, Lin Xue set requirements for herself.
Since she intends to interfere with the original owner's storyline, she must do it as perfectly as possible.
It's better to prevent things from happening than to try to fix them afterward.
While in the village, she had already asked the villagers and the guerrilla leader for directions.
They made their way back to the railway tracks and waited. When a train passed by, they would climb onto the roof and hitch a ride.
If she reached a place inaccessible by train, she would run on foot.
And so, Lin Xue arrived in Hai City.
Although she went through several transfers, involving both trains and ships, she managed to get into Shanghai.
When she got off the train, she created some extra chaos because someone was checking her, which allowed her to slip away.
But it's good that we arrived safely.
On her second day in Haishi, Lin Xue wandered around the streets.
Some places were controlled by the Japanese, making it difficult for her to get in.
These places can only be reached at night, relying on scaling walls and rooftops to avoid being seen by the public.
She quickly located the Special Higher Police Department and, on a rainy night, secretly slipped inside.
With the help of the 629 holographic projection, she finally found the location of the dungeon.
Upon entering the dungeon, they discovered that there were quite a few guards, who knocked people unconscious and strangled them along the way. When they reached the cells, they found that each cell held one or two people.
Lin Xue quickly passed by the prison cell doors. Who knew if there were any traitors who had already surrendered inside?
Although the Japanese soldiers were confident that no one could break in, Lin Xue had to be cautious now that she was inside.
She quickly found Han Xue, used the key to open the cell door, and looked inside at the woman huddled up.
The woman was probably in her thirties, and her body bore many scars from torture.
Some areas were even festering and ulcerated, yet her injuries had not been treated.
Those Japanese devils weren't so kind; they were only responsible for using torture to extract confessions unless you were willing to compromise and reveal something of sufficient benefit.
Otherwise they would torture people to death.
"Flying Snow?"
As soon as Lin Xue entered, she called out the other person's code name, and the person looked up at her in surprise.
