Chapter 27 She cried, she pretended

Zizhen touched her arm and signaled her to stop talking, as it would make the young lady feel uncomfortable.

She stepped forward to help Jiang Ling gather her cloak and advised, "Miss, your hands are frozen red. Go back first. Why not send him off tomorrow?"

Jiang Ling suddenly muttered to himself: "Yeah, he won't accept it even if he comes."

She turned her head and looked at the other side of the bridge, looking as if she was extremely expecting Zhou Jingan to appear.

Jiang Ling caught a glimpse of a dark figure under a banyan tree not far away, and angled her face so that he could see her sad expression clearly.

"He... he still hates me."

The voice sounded sad and lost, and seemed to contain a hint of sobs. It was blown into Zhou Jing'an's ears by the night wind.

He heard it.

I heard what the master and servant said before.

Zhou Jing'an looked at Jiang Ling's lonely back as she sat on the bridge. Her face was drooping and her nose seemed a little red, probably from the night wind. Her lips were tightly pursed, as if she was trying hard to suppress her emotions.

His fingers curled slightly, and Zhou Jing'an's expression relaxed a little.

It turned out that she had gone out of her way to find the lantern in the Golden Osmanthus Garden. Was the one she was holding a koi carp lantern? Did she think he liked it just because he praised her?

Zizhen and Luzhu were about to cry, and Xiaojia and Xiaoyi felt bad watching them.

Suddenly Xiaojia noticed that there seemed to be a figure swaying under a banyan tree not far from the bridge. He looked closely and saw that the outline seemed to be a man, but it was too dark and he could not see the face clearly.

Xiaojia clenched his fists. Could it be Zhou Jing'an? He just watched the young lady wait for him without showing up?

Even if he rejected the young lady so that she could return home earlier, why was he so heartless?

Xiao Yi also looked over there because of Xiao Jia's emotional fluctuations, and sure enough, he clenched his fists.

Jiang Ling thought it was almost time, so she stood up and smiled bitterly: "Forget it, I guess I won't be able to wait for him anymore."

She raised the lantern and looked at it carefully. The light from the lantern shone through the gradient rice paper and was reflected on her face.

The koi fish actually complements her outfit perfectly.

She gently shook the lantern, and the koi swam along with it. The light and shadow shone on her face, alternating between bright and dark. Her little face was still pretty, but her expression was dim, and there seemed to be a flash of crystal in her eyes.

Zhou Jing'an paused slightly. Was he crying?
