Chapter 39 I Won’t Bother You Anymore

Asking for something?

Zhou Jing'an was slightly surprised. After thinking about it carefully, he realized that he didn't have what Jiang Ling wanted.

Ye Song added in a low voice, "Miss Jiang said she knew you were in trouble and that it would only take half a minute to meet in the alley next to Tongchun Tower. Then she left."

Zhou Jing'an lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, thinking of the figure he saw in the morning. He took a quick glance at it, but it was far away and he could only vaguely see the expression.

It had been half a month since they last met. Zhou Jingan struggled for a moment and whispered, "Okay, let her wait a moment. I'll be there right away."

After Ye Song left, Zhou Jing'an sighed slightly, picked up the wine cup, stood up, and apologized to everyone, "My family sent someone here. I don't know what it is about. I'll excuse me for a moment." After that, he drank it all in one gulp.

Everyone waved to him to go back quickly.

He hurried downstairs and went out to a small alley. As soon as he turned in, he saw Jiang Ling, still wearing the same skirt she wore in the morning. The hem of her light yellow skirt was slightly raised, like the golden osmanthus trembling in the wind that day.

Zhou Jing'an looked around to see if there was anyone around, and then he heard Jiang Ling say, "Don't worry, Master Zhou. I've already sent guards to the entrance of the alley to keep an eye on it. No one will see us."

Her voice was soft, and seemed to carry a hint of grievance.

Zhou Jing'an pursed his lips and said nothing, "I wonder what Miss Jiang wants to ask for?"

Jiang Ling looked up at him. After not seeing him for half a month, he was still so full of energy.

"Mr. Zhou, we haven't seen each other for half a month..."

Don't you have anything else to say to me?

Zhou Jing'an understood Jiang Ling's unfinished words. He curled his hands behind his back and said calmly, "Probably."

Jiang Ling was about to speak, but was interrupted by Zhou Jing'an, "Miss Jiang, if you have something to say, please speak directly. There are differences between men and women, and this is not polite."

His voice was calm, even a little urgent.

Jiang Ling opened her mouth slightly, then finally closed it.

She stared at him without blinking, her eyes filled with deep attachment, longing and sadness.

A light breeze blew, and in just a moment, Jiang Ling's eyes were covered with a layer of mist that was about to fall.

She hurriedly turned her face away, not wanting him to see her crying.

Trying to calm her breath, she said, "Mr. Zhou has rejected Ling'er time and again. Ling'er already knows what he means. Today, I heard that Mr. Zhou won the first place in the imperial examination. I believe that he will surely pass the imperial examination and have a smooth career in the future. I am afraid that we will never have any intersection again..."

After all, her reputation was average; she was just a brainless, arrogant, and reckless woman.

Jiang Ling paused and smiled: "Ling'er wants to ask Master Zhou for something. If Master Zhou is willing to give it to me, then Ling'er will definitely not bother Master Zhou anymore in the future."

She spoke in a light tone, looking calm as the wind.

But Zhou Jing'an could hear the trembling in her words.

No more entanglement...

He frowned, looked at her tearful eyes, and lowered his voice unconsciously: "What do you want?"

If it wasn't a big deal, he could...

Jiang Ling smiled brightly, "It's the Jade Rabbit-Winning Osmanthus Gold Hairpin that Master Zhou got in the Golden Osmanthus Garden."

Zhou Jing'an was stunned and felt a little embarrassed.

Giving a woman a hairpin is too ambiguous.

Besides, the fact that he got the Jinguiyuan hairpin and folding fan caused quite a stir that day, and at least his peers probably knew about it.

If I see that hairpin on Jiang Ling's head one day, how can I explain it?

"I'm afraid this hairpin is not suitable to be given to the girl..." he said hesitantly.

Jiang Ling interrupted him softly, "Mr. Zhou, my birthday is in a few days." She smiled bitterly, "I don't think Mr. Zhou will come to Ling'er's birthday party. Can you give me this hairpin as a birthday gift? Mr. Zhou, don't worry, I won't wear it outside. I just like the style, so you can keep it."

Zhou Jing'an was speechless for a moment.

He looked at Jiang Ling. There was a smile on her pretty face, but the smile looked extremely bitter and awkward, as if it was forced.

There were still tears in her eyes, and her little hands were tightly clenching her sleeves. You could tell that she was very nervous.

Jiang Ling added hurriedly, "If Master Zhou is afraid of being seen, you can send an unfamiliar maid to bring it over. I'll wait here, or leave it somewhere and I'll send someone to get it."

Her words were very humble, and she seemed a little aggrieved standing in front of him.

Zhou Jingan looked at her and sighed after a moment, "If Miss Jiang really wants it, I'll have someone get it for you."

He really wanted to ask, what did she mean by "no longer entangled"?

Is it true?

He just clenched his fists and didn't ask in the end.

"Thank you, Mr. Zhou. Ling'er is very grateful." Tears almost welled up in Jiang Ling's eyes. Her voice trembled slightly as she bowed gracefully.

She was almost crying with joy!

Jiang Ling didn't say anything else. Seeing that Zhou Jing'an seemed to be hesitant to speak, she didn't ask and just waited for him to say goodbye and leave.

Ye Song looked at his young master and felt that his expression was a little complicated.

Happy, a little lost, a little helpless, and even entangled.

He said something extra: "Sir, I just took the initiative to find out why Miss Jiang came here."

It's no wonder he's suspicious. His identity as a young master attracts attention, so it's better to investigate any matter that exposes his whereabouts, no matter how big or small.

"After Miss Jiang came out of the Jingnan Palace, she searched five restaurants and three teahouses, and almost every store on Ronghua Street. It took her almost an hour to find this place."

Ye Song wanted to sigh. Miss Jiang was really infatuated with her own young master.

Zhou Jing'an paused, said "hmm" lightly, and returned to the private room without saying a word.
