Modern Extra 6

When Jiang Ling woke up, she felt like her whole body was no longer her own.

The bed curtains were drawn tightly, not a single ray of light came in. Jiang Ling was stunned for a minute before coming to her senses. She moved around and felt as if she had been climbing a mountain all night, her whole body aching.

She gritted her teeth, sat up, and cursed the culprit in her heart again.

I don’t know what time it is. Jiang Ling is wearing that pink bunny nightgown. She pulls open the bed curtains. The bright light outside makes her close her eyes.

"Ling'er, you're awake."

Jiang Ling squinted her eyes and slowly opened them, seeing Zhou Jing'an put down the book and came towards her.

He changed into the crescent-shaped white brocade robe embroidered with orchids that she had bought for him, tied his hair up and inserted the wooden hairpin horizontally. He looked energetic, like the bright moon and the fresh breeze.

Jiang Ling secretly glanced at her nightgown, touched her messy hair, held her aching waist, and glared at him hatefully.

Zhou Jing'an squatted down, his face gentle, "Would you like some water?"

Jiang Ling looked at his concerned expression, gritted her teeth and kicked him.

He didn't dodge or avoid. After being kicked, he twisted his body and then squatted straight, smiling, "Ling'er, don't be angry. I will take your beatings and scoldings."

Jiang Ling glanced at him and said in a hoarse voice: "I want to drink some water."

"Okay, I'll get it." Zhou Jing'an agreed happily and got up to go out.

Jiang Ling felt a little regretful as soon as he saw him leave. There was no water in the water dispenser at home, and the direct drinking water was not connected yet. Where should he go to get water?

She sighed and thought about making a pot of water herself.

Before I could get up, Zhou Jing'an came in.

He held a glass of water in one hand and a bowl of porridge with fine white rice in the other.

"Have some water." He handed her the clear glass. "Warm."

Jiang Ling took it and drank a few sips, then tilted her head and asked him, "How did you get the hot water? And this bowl of porridge, did you make it?"

Zhou Jingan chuckled, "I made it with that thing called a kettle. I cooked the porridge in a small pot. It's my first time making it, so the taste is average. Just bear with me for a couple of bites."

Jiang Ling was a little surprised, "You know how to use a kettle?"

He replied, "I followed the book you bought me. I looked through it for a long time and found one that was similar to the one at home. It came with instructions."

"You still opened fire?" Jiang Ling frowned, "It's very dangerous."

She hadn't even used the kitchen in her new home yet, and Zhou Jing'an had never seen these things before, yet he dared to use them so easily.

It's really worrying.

Zhou Jingan held her hand and said softly, "It's okay. I was very careful and tried several times before I made it."

He woke up early and knew that Jiang Ling was tired and would sleep for a long time, so he quietly packed up and left the bedroom.

First, I took a tour around the entire villa to familiarize myself with this new home.

Thinking that she would be thirsty and hungry when she woke up, I wanted to get some water and food.

Jiang Ling showed him how to do it when he ordered takeout yesterday, but he didn't have the confidence to handle this strange thing called "mobile phone", so he had to find other ways.

The reference book that Jiang Ling bought for him contained introductions and instructions on furniture and electrical appliances. He flipped through the book, compared the pictures and found an electric kettle that was similar to the one he had at home. He read the instructions carefully twice before he dared to use it, and did not dare to fill it with too much water.

When he got a small pot of hot water, Zhou Jing'an felt a little proud.

The same goes for making porridge, but I didn't control the amount of water and rice well, so some of it was wasted and I only made two bowls of porridge.

Zhou Jing'an had rarely been in the kitchen during his time at Dagan. At most, he would grill fish, chicken, or other foods when completing tasks in the wild. He had never cooked a proper meal.

The burnt parts were inedible, but he ate the rest himself without wasting anything. Now this bowl was just right for Jiang Ling.

He certainly wouldn't bring these up on his own initiative. He wanted to get Jiang Ling's encouragement and praise, so he didn't want to talk about those harmless little mistakes.

Jiang Ling picked up the bowl and took a sip. It was very delicate and smooth, and it was obvious that it had been simmered for a long time.

She curved her lips and smiled, "It tastes good."

Zhou Jingan breathed a sigh of relief and raised the corner of his mouth, "I'm glad you don't mind."

Looking at his sparkling eyes, Jiang Ling laughed and praised him politely, "How come you are so amazing? If I didn't tell you, I wouldn't be able to tell that this was your first time cooking. You actually dared to cook it yourself without me by your side. You are really amazing."

She kept saying a lot of compliments, which made Zhou Jing'an's brows relax and his ears turn red.

"It's just a small thing, Ling'er, stop praising me..." he said in a low voice.

Jiang Ling smiled and blinked, "What? Don't you want to hear me praise you?"

Zhou Jingan pursed his lips and said, "I want to..." Then he added, "It would be even better if there is a reward."

Jiang Ling glared, "You're pushing me too far. My whole body hurts now, you bad guy."

She raised her foot to kick, but he grabbed her foot with one hand and squeezed it in his arms.

Zhou Jing'an smiled and said, "It's my fault. Ling'er, you can use me as you like. I will definitely work hard without complaint."

"Humph, it's good to have this awareness."

Jiang Ling held the bowl of porridge and asked him if he had drunk it. Zhou Jing'an nodded and said that he had.

I have indeed tried it, but they were all failures.

"Drink more. There's another bowl, warm it with hot water."

Jiang Ling raised her eyebrows slightly, nodded and continued drinking.

Whether he was lying or something else, she would know after going to the kitchen.

After drinking the porridge, Jiang Ling felt warm in her stomach and much more comfortable. She got up to wash up, while Zhou Jing'an began to pack up the clothes that Jiang Ling had laid out yesterday.

He had just put it aside last night, and was afraid of waking her up in the morning, so he put it away while she was washing up.
