Chapter 90: Returning to Beijing to Worship the Ancestors

Ye Song's whole body stiffened and he immediately became silent.

"Hey? Who's calling me?" Ye Song raised his hands to cover his eyes and looked forward, saying seriously as he walked: "What? Oh, I'll be right there."

He had only taken two steps when someone grabbed him by the back of his neck.

Zhou Jingan smiled lightly and said, "You happen to have nothing to do today, so practice with me."

He grabbed Ye Song and walked forward, ignoring his cries and pleas for mercy. Suddenly, he stopped and said, "Ye Bai, come too."

Ye Bai's smirk paused, then fell suddenly, and he said sullenly, "Oh."

-

On the fifth day after returning to Beijing, Old Master Jiang and his wife returned to Beijing from their hometown to worship their ancestors and brought back two large boxes of things.

Jiang Ling dug through the original body's memories and found out that these two old people doted on the original body as well. They gave her whatever she wanted and doted on her much more than they did on Jiang Yi.

On November 25th, Jiang Ling, her parents, brother, and Jiang Lianhai's family were waiting at the gate of the mansion. They saw three carriages coming towards them from afar.

Lin Dexing, the steward of the Jiang family, took people to the city gate to welcome them, and was now leading them to the Jingnan Palace.

The carriage stopped and a man got out.

He was wearing a black round-necked robe and a black jade crown on his head. He was tall and straight, with a hint of white in his black hair, a long beard, thick eyebrows, big eyes, a sharp jaw, a pair of bright and burning eyes, and he was energetic and imposing. He exuded a cold and solemn air, but also a hint of elegance and easy-goingness.

This is the old man of the Jiang family, Jiang Ling’s grandfather - Jiang Xiulin.

He stood beside the carriage with his hands behind his back, his right hand raised to receive it.

A hand wearing a dark green jade bracelet stretched out from behind the curtain. It was white, tender and well-maintained and placed on the man's outstretched hand. Then a woman walked out of the carriage.

He was wearing a pine green brocade robe embroidered with a pattern of birds singing, and a cloak of the same color.

She had her hair styled in a bun with fallen horses, with a few white spots on her temples, adorned with gold hairpins shaped like peony flowers. She wore a pair of silver-plated hairpins inlaid with jade and coral with dragonfly patterns, and another pair of gold hairpins inlaid with pearls and jade, as well as a few hair flowers with phoenixes holding peonies, and a pair of jade earrings on her ears.

Her face was powdered and rouge, her eyebrows were drawn in the style of Qiu Niang, and she had dark crimson lip rouge on. A peony flower was painted on her forehead. Her makeup was exquisite, her eyes were round and full, her eyebrows were kind, and she had a smile on her face. She exuded a luxurious air.

Needless to say, this is Jiang Xiulin's wife Tao Yi.

Jiang Xiulin helped Tao Yi get off the carriage. Jiang Lianshan and Jiang Lianhai were the first to step forward and greet them, followed by Meng Wanjie and Liang Wan.

"The son and daughter-in-law respectfully welcome father and mother back to Beijing."

Jiang Ling followed Jiang Yi and Jiang Fei, with Jiang Hong following beside her. The four of them also bowed and greeted their grandparents together.

"The grandchildren respectfully welcome grandpa and grandma back to Beijing."

Jiang Xiulin nodded, his eyes widening with inquiry, "Have we gotten into any trouble while we're away from the capital?"

Both Jiang Lianshan brothers were choked. They were so old, how could they still get into trouble?

"Oh, the children are already grown up, don't start accusing them right away." Tao Yi chuckled and let his two daughters-in-law help him into the house. "Come in quickly, I'm exhausted from this journey."

Jiang Xiulin didn't ask any more questions and walked straight in. The Jiang Lianshan brothers followed him quickly.

Several younger generations also followed behind and entered the mansion together.

After entering the main hall, according to the rules, when parents return home after a long journey, their children and grandchildren should kowtow to welcome them.

After Jiang Xiulin and Tao Yi sat down in the main seats, several people knelt on the ground and kowtowed to greet them.

Before Jiang Xiulin could say anything, Tao Yi hurriedly called out distressedly, "Alright, alright, hurry up and get up. The ground is cold."

After everyone stood up, they took their seats, and Jiang Ling sat at the bottom.

Jiang Lianshan spoke first and gave a general account of what had happened at home over the past two months. Putting aside other things, when Tao Yi heard about Jiang Fei, he immediately slammed the table in anger.

"The Yue family is a dishonest family. The elders are dishonest, and this young man has learned every trick from them. He even tried to deceive the public and marry my lovely granddaughter. He is really a toad wanting to eat swan meat."

Tao Yi slammed the table and cursed.

While she was drinking tea and taking a break, Liang Wan hurried forward to bow and apologize. After all, she was the one who listened to the matchmaker's arrangements first, and she had investigated for a long time but couldn't find out anything fishy about Yue Weiqing. She almost got her own daughter involved, so she deserved to apologize.

As she apologized, tears were about to fall again, and she was really scared.

Jiang Lianhai also knelt down beside him.

"Alright, alright. Don't allow matchmaker Wang to visit the Jiang family again. When you are looking for a date in the future, you should also make more inquiries. Don't let this kind of thing happen again. Fortunately, God has eyes and didn't let our Fei'er jump into the fire pit." Tao Yi was not a person who liked to torture his daughter-in-law. Seeing Liang Wan apologizing with tears in her eyes, he felt distressed and quickly gave way.

Tao Yi called Jiang Fei over again and comforted her for a while, "From now on, your grandmother will be your guardian and will never let you suffer any injustice."

"Oh, thank you grandma." Jiang Fei's eyes also reddened, and she sat back obediently.

Jiang Xiulin didn't say a word the entire time, just had a sullen face.

Jiang Ling thought that this was a man who didn't care about his granddaughter's marriage, and was puzzled. Considering his love for the original body, this shouldn't be the case.

She was just thinking about it when she heard Jiang Xiulin say, "Big Brother, Second Brother, come with me tonight to stop that rascal, put him in a sack and beat him up, then strip him and throw him at the city gate."

Good guy, if you don’t make a sound, you will be amazing.

But you are so old, so angry, and you want to use violence. Is that okay?

Although the Jiang Lianshan brothers also wanted to do this, at least the emperor did not strip the Yue family of their titles. Although Yue Weiqing could no longer hold his head up in the court, such simple and crude revenge was really not worth it.
