The next morning, Jiang Ling paid her respects to the empress dowager and went straight to the side hall.
The palace door was not closed, and Jiang Ling saw Su Wantang sitting on the couch reading a book.
The summer sun rises early, and the morning light is bright, shining brightly all over her body, clearly illuminating her delicate figure. Her delicate and beautiful face is wearing a faint smile, and her slender hands are slowly turning the pages of the book.
It is undeniable that Jiang Ling was amazed again.
She saw Su Wantang come back to his senses at the maid's voice, then he looked up at her and smiled.
When I looked up, it seemed as if countless crabapple trees were blooming, and I could smell the fragrance of flowers accompanied by the morning dew.
Jiang Ling smiled and thought that it would be a blessing for Jiang Yi if such a beauty could be married home by her brother.
"Ling'er? Why are you standing here and not coming in?"
Su Wantang was wearing a light green skirt, and the hem of her skirt swayed as she walked, like raindrops.
Jiang Ling lifted her skirt and stepped forward. "I'm afraid I'll disturb you while you're studying." She smiled and took her hand. "What are you looking at? You look so engrossed."
Su Wantang waved her hand, asked the maid to pour tea, and picked up the book for her to read. "I have nothing to do, so I just read some strange stories to relieve my boredom."
"Ling'er, are you here to see me?" Su Wantang smiled and looked very happy.
Jiang Ling handed her the book and blinked: "I came here with a mission."
Su Wantang was stunned when she saw Jiang Ling's ambiguous smile, and then her face turned red.
After the maid served tea, she sent her out. Once the palace door was closed, only the two of them were left.
Su Wantang pushed the tea towards her and asked with lowered eyes, "Did he ask you to come?"
Jiang Ling had never seen her so shy before, and secretly admired her. "My brother is such a fool. If I hadn't noticed the clues and asked her, I'm afraid he would have been suffering from lovesickness for the rest of his life."
After hearing this, Su Wantang's blush deepened.
Jiang Ling teased her deliberately, "He kept it a secret, saying that he was afraid it would be bad for you if he told you, so he didn't even tell me."
"But he's been showing his true colors these past few days. He's been distracted while eating and reading, and he didn't even notice me standing right in front of him."
Su Wantang seemed to be able to imagine Jiang Yi's silly look. He chuckled softly, then stopped laughing and snorted, "Did he ask Ling'er to plead for him?"
Jiang Ling nodded and did not deny her purpose.
"My brother really didn't know what to do. He couldn't see you and was panicking, so he asked me to come and see you. He was very worried."
Su Wantang lowered her eyes, "Go back and tell him I'm fine, don't worry him."
This is still angry.
Jiang Ling sighed softly. It seemed that she had to say a few more good words for her brother.
She took out the jujube wood box and handed it to her, saying with some disdain for Jiang Yi, "He bought this at the end of May, but so many days have passed and he still hasn't given it to you. So, since he can't see you, he asked me to bring it to you."
Su Wantang gently stroked the box and listened to Jiang Ling say, "I haven't opened it yet, so I don't know what's inside."
She slowly opened it and saw a hairpin lying quietly inside.
With fine workmanship and exquisite shape, this exquisite kingfisher-inlaid lotus-embracing hairpin is very expensive.
Jiang Ling leaned over to take a look, nodded, and looked at Su Wantang and said, "Isn't he good at coaxing people? Why is he so helpless now?"
Su Wantang lowered her head, looked at the hairpin, and her face turned red.
"I heard from my brother that he was indeed wrong."
Jiang Ling began to speak well of Jiang Yi.
"He hid it from you and got injured. I'd be surprised if I wasn't angry with him." Jiang Ling turned around and said, "They're always like this. Zhou Jing'an is the same. He was already seriously injured, but he kept it a secret from me and went out to fight. In the end, he came back injured. It makes me so angry."
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Su Wantang frowned and agreed, "Yeah, Ling'er must be angry too."
"Angry, of course I'm angry." Jiang Ling nodded.
The two of them exchanged a lot of complaints, and in the end, Jiang Ling saw that the anger in Su Wantang's face had lessened a lot, so she carefully told a white lie.
"I won't plead for my brother anymore. Let him worry about it." Jiang Ling snorted softly, "Let him lie in bed and recuperate while suffering from lovesickness. Wan Tang, please don't pay any attention to him. Let him learn a lesson."
"recuperate?"
Su Wantang was stunned. "Is his injury still not healed?"
Jiang Ling could see that Su Wantang and Jiang Yi really liked each other. Su Wantang was just angry that he had kept it a secret from her and got hurt. It was just a minor disagreement and could be reconciled with a little persuasion.
She sighed and lied without changing her expression, "Yes, he said it was embarrassing for a man to get hurt, and he didn't want to tell you. Now that the injury hasn't healed, he doesn't want to tell you and make you worry. He knows you're not feeling well."
Su Wantang pursed her lips, feeling a pang of sadness in her heart.
He frowned and muttered softly: "Fool..."
-
Jiang Ling, who had successfully completed his mission, retired with honor, and his steps on the palace road were much more relaxed.
Although she was very curious about when Su Wantang fell in love with Jiang Yi, it was not convenient to ask now. She would wait until the two of them were about to get married.
Jiang Ling went to Fengyi Palace to chat with Zhou Ning'an, and checked on Xingxing. She was feeling better day by day, and was playing happily with Huaxu in the yard.
As soon as she walked out of the palace, she saw Zhou Jing'an standing there waiting for her.
"Ling'er."
Zhou Jingan smiled as soon as he saw her and walked towards her quickly, "Are you tired?"
"Not tired." Jiang Ling shook his head and said with a smile: "I didn't do anything, so how could I be tired?"
Zhou Jing'an helped her walk towards the carriage. "You must be hungry. Youranju has just launched a new dish called Drunken Immortal Duck. Do you want to try it?"
