Chapter 227 Wait for Me to Marry You

Cheng An was startled, pursed his lips and ordered the maid: "Tell him to get out of the way, let's go back to the mansion."

The maid responded, and Cheng An heard her footsteps and distant voices, followed by a period of silence.

She couldn't help but want to go out to see what was going on, but suddenly she heard a sound coming from outside the window on the left.

"Cheng An, it's me."

The voice was Qi Tianyang.

Cheng An blinked and whispered back, "I know."

He added, "I'm going to take part in the martial arts exam and I'm going to get one of the top three spots."

Cheng An coughed twice, looking uncomfortable, and whispered, "What does it have to do with me?"

Qi Tianyang outside seemed a little anxious. The sound of horse hooves could be heard and his voice became closer.

"I want to marry you. If my future father-in-law and mother-in-law want fame and honor, I will go and fight for it."

His voice was clear and crisp, with his usual elegance and flamboyance.

Cheng An's cheeks flushed uncontrollably. She clenched the handkerchief in her hand, not knowing what to say.

But in my heart I was cursing him for being shameless. He called them father-in-law and mother-in-law before they even had any relationship. He was really shameless.

Qi Tianyang waited patiently for a while, but heard no response. He knocked on the window frame with his fingers and softened his voice: "You...just look at me."

Cheng An bit her lip, pulled open the car curtain, and saw his sparkling eyes.

He was about to say something cold and mean, but at this moment he suddenly fell silent.

Qi Tianyang drove his horse closer, as if he could touch her with just his hand.

He looked at her and smiled, looking somewhat happy.

"Just wait for me to propose marriage, and don't worry about the rest." He made a promise.

Then he added: "Just can you please stop hiding from me."

Qi Tianyang's eyebrows were drooping, which was rare, and his voice was filled with grievance: "I want to see you."

Cheng An couldn't stand his repeated bluntness. She was so embarrassed and angry that she glared at him: "When did I...when did I agree to marry you?"

He pondered for a moment, as if he didn't expect that even though he was ready to propose marriage, his sweetheart was still hesitating whether to agree to him.

Qi Tianyang pursed his lips and looked at her, his face showing some sadness as if he was abandoned.

"You accepted the hairpin I gave you that day. Are you going to turn your back on me, Xiao An?"

Cheng An was stunned and couldn't speak.

She rubbed her fingers and whispered, "How would I know you meant that?"

That day, he suddenly stopped her carriage, just like today, and said he wanted to give her something.

She remembered that she had heard from someone that Qi Tianyang was generous to others and would often give food and toys as gifts, especially to girls, to please them.

She was annoyed by the disturbance, and seeing that he was determined not to leave unless she took it, she let him take it.

I thought it was something ordinary, but when I opened it, I found it was a hairpin.

After that, Cheng's father and mother asked her not to associate with him, so she would not let him go out easily. It was only today that Jiang Ling invited her out that she went out.

She muttered, "Don't you often give gifts to women? I thought they were just little things."

Qi Tianyang was shocked and hurriedly waved his hands to explain, "This is all fake! Xiao An, don't listen to those people's gossip. I have never given anything to a woman. I only occasionally help some prostitutes and singing girls and ask them to give them some money and clothes. Does that count?"

As he spoke, he became a little uncertain and looked at her cautiously.

Seeing that she was silent, he added quietly, "To be honest, I've only ever given you something proper. I had that hairpin made specially for you."

Cheng An lowered his eyes, and a little red appeared on the tip of his ear.

"Anyway, I...I haven't promised you yet. Don't participate in the martial arts exam just for fame. If you get injured or disabled, you can blame my family."

She said so much, but Qi Tianyang just caught one sentence.

He looked at her with bright eyes and curved his lips, "You care about me."

Cheng An was stunned, feeling helpless and embarrassed, "Don't talk nonsense!"

"Xiao An is obviously afraid that I will get hurt, but don't worry, I'm very strong and will never get hurt and make you sad." He patted his chest with a look of confidence.

He waved his hand, and the servants behind him quickly moved a wooden box to her carriage.

"Here are some little things I found to cheer you up." He smiled. "There are also two pieces of brocade in there. They are fashionable materials in the south. I think they will look good on you. If you like them, I can get you some more."

Before Cheng An could react, he took out another oil-paper bag from the cloth bag and handed it to her: "This is cherry biro, it's hard to get it, it's still hot, eat it quickly."

At this time, the cherry season has long passed, and there are only a few left in the north, so cherry-related pastries in the capital are also very difficult to get.

Cheng An stared at the hand he extended to him in a daze.

"Don't you like it? Why are you in a daze?" Qi Tianyang stuffed the oil-paper bag directly into her arms.

Then he looked at her seriously and said, "Since you accepted my engagement gift, you have agreed to my request."

Cheng An rarely saw him so serious and was speechless for a moment.

"When I gain fame and honor, I will marry you."

Qi Tianyang had a bright smile and raised eyebrows, looking like a handsome young man full of vigor and vitality.

His gentle yet bold eyes were hidden in the orange afterglow of the evening. He stared at her intently, causing Cheng An's heart to skip a beat.

Her eyelashes trembled slightly, and she lowered her eyes, her fingers tightly grasping the oil-paper bag, and muttered, "I'm going back."

She lowered the curtain to block his scorching gaze, told the maid to return home, and ignored the sound of Qi Tianyang saying goodbye to her behind her. Her ears were getting hot.
