Chapter 122 Don’t Ignore Me

In the dim morning light, Jiang Ling walked on the long palace road again, but he did not feel tired, but only anxious.

She came early today, and when she arrived at Fengyi Palace, she happened to catch Doctor Lin checking Zhou Ning'an's pulse.

Jiang Ling was sensible and wanted to avoid it first. After all, it was related to the health of a country's queen, and the fewer people who knew about it, the better.

Zhou Ning'an waved his hand and said it was not necessary, and asked her to sit down quickly. After thanking her, Jiang Ling sat on the couch next to her, staring at Doctor Lin taking her pulse with a curious look on her face.

In fact, she was observing Doctor Lin.

Doctor Lin's beard was gray, and half of his hair was white. He looked like he had reached the age of knowing the destiny.

He has a handsome appearance, a serious expression, and a calm face.

Just a moment later, he frowned slightly and put down his hand.

"Your Majesty, your temper is getting worse, and your pregnancy is not very stable. But did you eat a lot of warming and blood-tonifying foods yesterday?"

Jiang Ling felt a little relieved. This Doctor Lin was indeed a skilled doctor and had nothing to hide.

Cao Yuan, standing by, hurriedly replied, "No, Your Majesty's meals are all supervised by this servant, and are arranged entirely according to the instructions of Imperial Physician Lin. She doesn't eat anything extra."

There was silence in the hall. Zhou Ning'an looked unhappy and stroked his belly in thought for a long time.

Doctor Lin asked other questions and found no mistakes.

Jiang Ling gathered her emotions for a moment and hesitated before speaking: "I wonder if I may dare to say a word."

"Just say it." Zhou Ning'an smiled at her gently.

Jiang Ling frowned and asked tentatively, "But there was a problem when the pregnancy-preserving medicine was being prepared?"

After these words were spoken, all three of them looked at her.

"I was a naughty girl when I was little. When my brother caught a cold, I insisted on making the medicine myself. As a result, I lost control and added too much of one ingredient, which gave my brother a stomachache."

Jiang Ling waved her hand and said with a smile, "I was just thinking of my childhood experiences and said a few more words. I believe that the people who serve the Queen are very dedicated and would not make such a mistake."

Imperial Physician Lin lowered his eyes and pondered for a moment, then bowed to Zhou Ning'an and said, "Could you please let me see the residue left over from yesterday's brewing of the abortion-preserving medicine?"

It is better to kill someone by mistake than to let him go.

The Queen's pregnancy is of great importance, and there must be no mistakes on his part, otherwise it may bring about fatal disaster.

Zhou Ning'an first comforted Jiang Ling with a few words, telling her not to be restrained, and then responded to Doctor Lin with a gentle face.

She was just about to order someone to bring the medicine residue when Pan Xia, who came in with tea and snacks, put down her things and knelt on the ground.

She kowtowed and said in a trembling voice, "Please forgive me, Your Majesty. I have already cleared away the medicine residue from yesterday."

Jiang Ling glanced at her twice, only seeing the back of her head and her proper kneeling posture.

Yesterday, I heard Zizhen say that it was this Miss Panxia who collected the medicinal residue and pottery jars.

Zhou Ning'an was silent for two breaths, then smiled and said, "It's okay, get up."

She said to Doctor Lin, "Maybe it's because I ate a few extra bites of spicy chicken yesterday. Is there something wrong with the pregnancy now?"

Doctor Lin shook his head, "Just take good care of it."

Cao Yuan wanted to ask a few more questions. Since it concerned the Empress's fetus, every little thing had to be taken seriously. But she felt Zhou Ning'an gently touch her arm, so she stopped talking.

Jiang Ling was close by and keenly noticed the movements of the master and servant, and felt much more relaxed.

It seems that Zhou Ning'an has become suspicious and will probably investigate the people in the palace carefully.

After Doctor Lin left, Zhou Ning'an started chatting with Jiang Ling and took her to visit the Imperial Garden.

In fact, it was Jiang Ling's unintentional guidance that made Zhou Ning'an take the initiative to go.

Jiang Ling still needs to familiarize herself with the crime scene in advance.

The scenery of the Imperial Garden is very interesting even in winter, but Jiang Ling's attention is not on this. She carefully observed the layout of the Imperial Garden and the connecting roads so as not to get lost later.

She arrived early today and asked to leave the palace early without staying for dinner. Zhou Ning'an tried to persuade her to stay, but when she insisted, he let her go.

As soon as she left the palace, she saw Ye Song waiting at the palace gate.

"Ye Song?" Jiang Ling was a little surprised. "But what's the matter, Lord Zhou?"

-

After Jiang Ling's lunch break, she changed into a smoky purple brocade dress, combed her hair into a simple bun, adorned it with a few hairpins, and went out without even putting on makeup.

It was already two o'clock in the afternoon when they arrived at Qingfeng Teahouse. Ye Song was already waiting at the door and took her to the private room on the second floor.

Jiang Ling glanced over and saw Zhou Jing'an sitting there, looking a little uneasy. He immediately stood up when he saw her coming.

"Master Zhou." Jiang Ling bowed and sat down before asking, "What's the urgent matter?"

Zhou Jingan placed the cake in front of her and said, "It's a day off today."

He hesitated for a while, then looked up at Jiang Ling, with a flash of shame and guilt in his eyes.

"I went to Yunwu Peak..."

Jiang Ling paused while eating the cake, then looked up at him in surprise.

Did he go to see Wanran?

Did she find out his true identity, or was she just jealous?

The latter is easy to deal with, but if it's the former...

Seeing Jiang Ling staring at him in silence, Zhou Jing'an became even more flustered. He hesitated and apologized softly, "I had someone monitor Yunwu Peak earlier. I learned about you sending clothes to Wanran yesterday. I felt uneasy and rushed to see him."

Oh, it's because of jealousy.

Jiang Ling felt relieved, drank a sip of tea, and waited calmly for him to continue.

"It's not that I don't believe you, I just..." Zhou Jing'an said anxiously.
