Chapter 145 The Passerby Who Died Before the Famine Even Began (Part 1)

When Jiang Yue opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in bed. Before she could ask 8888 for the world's plot and memories, she felt something was wrong with her. Her body was weak and her mind was dizzy. She touched her forehead and found that she had a fever.

She took out a healing pill from her spatial storage and swallowed it. The effect was immediate. Within minutes, her body temperature dropped and she felt much better. Only then did Jiang Yue call out to 8888: "8888, recall my memories first."

8888 didn't say anything, but directly transmitted the memory: Jiang Yue, ten years old, from Xiahe Village, Shima County, Chen State.

The end of the dynasty was extremely chaotic. Jiang Dazhuang, the father, was a hunter who dared to fight and made a name for himself. He became a small landlord as the times made him a hero. His mother, Zhao, was the daughter of a scholar. She gave birth to her eldest daughter, Jiang Yue, when she was young. After her father, Jiang Dazhuang, became a landlord, she became pregnant again. This time, she gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl.

As for Jiang Yue's original self, she had been playing with her younger siblings a few days ago and got all sweaty, so she ran to the basement to cool off. As a result, she caught a cold and died because she didn't recover. After receiving the memories, Jiang Yue sighed, "Ancient times, especially the end of a dynasty, are not easy to live in."

"8888, send out the world storyline."

Tang Wan, a science and engineering student, transmigrates to a chaotic world without any cheat codes. Natural disasters and man-made calamities occur constantly, and people are displaced. After finally surviving a severe drought, a heavy rain finally arrives, but in this harsh land, even food and clothing are a problem. So, she decisively leaves the mountains and seeks refuge with the Ninth Prince, using her modern knowledge to benefit the people.

During their long time together, the Ninth Prince fell in love with this unromantic woman. Unfortunately, Tang Wan was only focused on her career and didn't give him a second glance. After ascending the throne, the Ninth Prince, now the Emperor, found Tang Wan:

"Wanwan, the position of Empress is mine."

Tang Wan shook the goosebumps on her arms. What a greasy way to address me! "No, I just want to focus on my career!"

Ninth Prince: "..."

Ninth Prince: "Then I'll give you the throne!"

Tang Wan: "No!"

Ninth Prince: "Then what do you want?"

Tang Wan: "I want a steam engine!"

Ninth Prince: "What chicken? Never mind what chicken it is, I'll issue a decree tomorrow! I'll search high and low, I'll find it for you!"

Tang Wan: "There's absolutely no need for that!!!"

After choosing a concubine for his career, the Ninth Prince knew there was no future with Tang Wan. For the next few decades, both of them became career-driven individuals. The only solace for the Ninth Prince was that Tang Wan hadn't married all those years… Upon receiving news of Tang Wan's death, the Ninth Prince succumbed to grief and passed away. Unexpectedly, fate was kind to him, granting him a second life. Chen Zheng looked out at the tall buildings and bustling traffic, muttering to himself, "Wanwan, I've already missed my chance once. This time, I won't let go!"

After reading the world's plot, Jiang Yue exclaimed, "Finally, I've met a career-driven person, no, two career-driven people! At least someone can focus on their career and not let the country perish because of 'I love you, but you don't love me'!! It's not easy, and the ending is a happy one, I like it!"

After receiving the world's plot and memories, Jiang Yue finally had time to look around her room. Just like in her memory, there was a mahogany bed, a wooden screen in the middle, and a dressing table and a desk outside. Why was there no one by her side when she was sick? Because her family couldn't afford to keep a maid. Her mother had been taking care of her personally these past few days and was currently outside brewing medicine.

Zhao looked somewhat haggard, her eyes filled with worry. Her daughter had been unconscious for two days. She kept fanning the stove fire, hoping to brew medicine to wake her eldest daughter. Her twin siblings, Jiang Xuan and Jiang Li, were unusually sensible despite their young age. Zhao looked at the sky; the sun had set and night had fallen. Jiang Yue's father had not yet returned.

Jiang Dazhuang drove his oxcart to town, hoping to find a different doctor to treat his daughter. Unfortunately, the other renowned doctor had gone to the county magistrate's house to treat her and had been staying there recently. Jiang Dazhuang had been going to the county every day for the past two days to see if the doctor had returned to the pharmacy. Zhao looked outside the door, but the doctor still hadn't returned, so she figured today's trip would be in vain.

After a while, the mother, Zhao, carefully carried the freshly brewed medicine into the room. When she saw Jiang Yue, who should have been unconscious, now leaning against the bed, she was stunned. She was so shocked that she knocked the medicine bowl to the ground, and the sound of the porcelain bowl shattering was particularly jarring in the quiet room.

"Yue'er! You're awake?" Zhao exclaimed in surprise, her voice filled with excitement and disbelief.

"You're finally awake! I was so worried." She quickly walked to the bedside and held Jiang Yue's hand. Feeling the warmth of Jiang Yue's hand, she finally believed that her daughter had really woken up.

Seeing their older sister wake up, the two little ones ran over and lay down by the bed, calling out, "Sister, sister!" Jiang Yue patted their heads and said to Zhao Shi, "Mother, I'm fine now. It's like I just had a dream."

After the mother and daughter calmed down, Zhao wanted to go out and brew the medicine again, but Jiang Yue stopped her and said, "Mother, I'm better now. Touch my forehead, it's not hot at all. Make me some porridge, I'm hungry."

Zhao patted Jiang Yue's head and said to her, "Alright, then we won't drink it today. We'll wait until your father brings the doctor back tomorrow to see if you're fully recovered. This time, your father and I were really scared. You can't go to the cellar anymore. It's all your father's fault. I told him to put a lock on the cellar, but he wouldn't..."

After complaining for a while, Jiang's father went out to cook porridge for Jiang Yue. The two children, Jiang Li and Jiang Xuan, ran to Jiang Yue's side after seeing Zhao leave and said to her, "Sister, I'll give you candy. Eating candy will make the pain go away."

After saying that, she reluctantly took out a piece of candy from her small pouch and handed it to Jiang Yue with a look of reluctance in her eyes. Jiang Yue looked at her cute little sister and suddenly wanted to tease her, so she took the candy from her and put it in her mouth, saying in a slightly exaggerated tone, "It's so sweet, thank you Lili! After eating the candy, I feel all better!"

Xuanxuan, standing next to her, had tears streaming from the corners of his mouth. After seeing Jiang Yue finish the candy, Lili hurriedly asked Jiang Yue, "Sister, are you feeling better?" Seeing that Jiang Yue's voice was trembling with tears after she finished eating, and her little eyes were brimming with tears, she felt sorry for her.

Jiang Yue patted Lili and Xuanxuan's heads and said to them gently, "Okay, sister should thank Lili for the candy. You'll be fine after you finish eating it."

"That's good. I asked Mom to give my sister candy earlier, but she wouldn't listen to me." Lili said to Jiang Yue with bright eyes, "Wouldn't it be better if she ate it earlier? Then she wouldn't have to take bitter medicine."
