After the lecture, I let them digest the information on their own. After a month, they were able to keep up with the pace. Now, both of their professional skills have greatly improved and they are barely usable.
Jiang Yue poured herself a cup of hot water and made a cup of tea, then went back to her office to slack off. Wasn't the point of training them to save trouble? Otherwise, why bother with all that effort?
What Jiang Yue didn't know was that the two of them breathed a sigh of relief after she left. Heaven knows that when they first arrived, they were a little resentful when they saw a young person as their leader, but the next day they were told off so badly that they couldn't hold their heads up anymore and dared not have the slightest dissatisfaction.
The two of them are still a little intimidated by Jiang Yue. There's no way around it; even underachievers feel this way when they see a teacher. They have a natural sense of intimidation. Even though they feel that Jiang Yue is easy to talk to, they are just a little hesitant. They are afraid that she will suddenly ask a question, and if they don't know the answer, they will be completely at a loss.
After the merger, Jiang Yue's workload increased significantly. Previously, there were only about 30 people in the station, but now, there are 154 people scattered around, which is 5 times the number before. There are two more accountants, so the workload is not small.
Just after resting for a while, the publicity department came over. They definitely need to apply for funding for their publicity work. Jiang Yue checked the leader's approval, and after confirming there were no problems, she allocated the funds to them. As soon as the publicity department left, the purchasing department came over. Jiang Yue was very happy when they reimbursed them. The more they reimbursed, the more supplies they purchased, which meant they could eat better in the next few days.
There's still a lot going on today since we just moved. I had just settled down when I received a new task. Although no one lives in the other parts of the building, there's still a lot of dust, so they need to clean it up. Each person got a basin and a rag, so let's get started.
After a busy day, when it's time to leave work, I check all the filing cabinets and safes to make sure the locks are secure. Only after confirming everything is alright can I leave. The good thing is that they don't work three shifts, so there's no need for shift work or anything like that, which is quite nice.
When Jiang Yue got home, her mother had already prepared dinner. Jiang Yue had been quite busy lately and came home too late to cook. Also, without her bringing things back, the food at home had become much worse. It wasn't that other people didn't buy things, but sometimes even if you had the money, you couldn't buy them. It wasn't a holiday, and even the black market didn't have that many things for sale.
During dinner, Jiang's father brought up Jiang Yue's work, asking if the merger had been completed, as the family knew she had been busy with it.
"Okay, we've moved to the new office area today. We've had the meeting, we're using the office building, and I even have my own office now."
"That's pretty impressive."
The family was chatting and laughing when the sister-in-law suddenly felt nauseous while eating. The eldest brother leaned over and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"It's nothing, I just felt nauseous when I smelled fish."
Jiang's mother watched from the side, and after sending her eldest brother away, she whispered a few words to her sister-in-law. Jiang Yue could roughly guess what they talked about. Jiang's father, being an experienced person, also had some guesses. Only the eldest brother, being too caught up in the situation, kept asking questions in a daze.
Jiang's mother and sister-in-law glared at him. It was originally her sister-in-law's turn to wash the dishes, but Jiang's mother didn't let her do it and made her brother do it instead.
"Mom will go to the hospital with you tomorrow. Is there anyone in the neighborhood who works at the same factory as you? We can ask them to help you ask for leave."
The eldest sister-in-law shook her head to indicate no, so Jiang's mother said, "Then I'll go to the factory to ask for leave for you, and then I'll come back to pick you up."
"Mom, maybe I should go by myself."
"Fine, let Jianshe go with you. Honey, you find someone to switch shifts for the child."
"knew."
The next morning, when Jiang Yue woke up, her older brother and sister-in-law were still asleep, probably because they were too excited the day before.
After breakfast, Jiang Yue went to work. She didn't bother to find out if her sister-in-law was pregnant. She just wanted to open the blind box when she got back that night. It wouldn't be fun if she knew in advance. If she was really pregnant, she could arrange all sorts of prenatal checkups for her.
When she arrived at the office, the other two hadn't arrived yet. Jiang Yue took the kettle and filled two pots with hot water. She first made herself a cup of herbal tea, and then cleaned the office.
The others arrived while we were cleaning, and the three of us cleaned much faster together. After we finished cleaning, the people who needed to handle their business arrived. Because some people had already finished their business before leaving get off work yesterday, there were far fewer people in the morning.
After finishing her work, Jiang Yue returned to her office and could resume her enjoyable life of slacking off. She read for a while and it was noon. The three of them grabbed their lunchboxes and went to the cafeteria for lunch.
The cafeteria food was quite plentiful today, considering there are over 100 people in the unit. Jiang Yue made cucumber and egg stir-fry and stir-fried pork with chili peppers, plus two wild vegetable dumplings. That's all for lunch today.
After lunch, I went back and gave them one last lesson. Afterwards, I recommended a few books for them to study. Whether they want to continue to improve is up to them.
Back in her office, she saw she still had time, so she dozed off at her desk. She'd barely fallen asleep when someone called her to a meeting. The meeting discussed the development of each department, emphasized learning from the lessons of other sites, and stressed the importance of contributing to the country before adjourning.
After the meeting ended, Jiang Yue immediately ran out. The meeting room was filled with a thick cloud of smoke, and she inhaled a lot of secondhand smoke.
Back in the office, I continued my life of lying down. I wondered how my sister-in-law was doing. Oh well, I'll just assume she's pregnant. I can bring some things home today: some fruits and vegetables, some beef, but I plan to stop getting fish for now.
See how severe the morning sickness is. If it is, then we can't save on these pills. After all, she's my sister-in-law, so I'd rather she suffer less.
After get off work, she checked that the lock was on as usual, locked the door, and then went downstairs to find her bicycle. She rode her beloved bicycle home, taking a detour through a small alley. When she came out, there was an extra cloth bag on the bicycle.
When she got home, only her mother was home. Jiang Yue put her things on the table and then asked her mother, "Mom, how is my sister-in-law? Is she pregnant?"
"Yes, the doctor said it's been more than two months." Jiang's mother couldn't hide her smile as she spoke, her face full of joy.
"Where is my sister-in-law?"
"I'm off to work."
Why don't you stay home and rest for a day?
“I told them, but they said it’s okay if you have a short postpartum period. What can I do?”
That's true. These days, people only choose to rest in the last month or two. Plus, my sister-in-law's job is clerical, with a light workload and she sits in an office. To be honest, having a job can prevent depression, which is better than staying at home every day.
"Mom, I bought beef brisket today. I'm going to make a tomato and potato beef brisket dish. It's an appetizer, so I'll ask my sister-in-law to eat more when she gets back."
"Let's have some shiitake mushrooms and bok choy, pan-fried tofu, and stir-fried cabbage. This is quite a feast today, isn't it?"
