Chapter 56: Passerby A in Ancient Marriage Exchange Stories (Part 1)

Jiang Yue woke up again, and before she even opened her eyes, she heard the sound of gongs and drums. She was then jostled aside and nearly fell. Without a second thought, she quickly squeezed her way out of the crowd. Finally, after managing to get to the outside, Jiang Yue had a chance to see what was going on.

Looking up, carriages lined up in an orderly fashion from one end of the street to the other, red ribbons were tied to the trees all over the street, and crowds of people surged about, shoulder to shoulder, all craning their necks to watch the wedding of the most favored third prince.

Jiang Yue observed the people around her. They were all dressed in plain clothes with long hair, exuding an ancient charm. The men's hair was tied up in buns, while the women wore various exquisite hairstyles, adorned with silver hairpins or pearl flowers.

The streets are lined with rows of antique buildings, each with a unique architectural style. The roofs are covered with blue tiles, and the buildings feature flying eaves, brackets, carved beams and painted rafters, showcasing the unique charm of ancient architecture.

Jiang Yue realized that she must have traveled to ancient times. She found a corner and leaned against the wall. She looked around and saw that no one was paying attention to her because everyone was watching the wedding procession. She said, "8888, hurry up and transfer my memories to me."

As soon as she finished speaking, 8888 transmitted her memories. This time, she was in an ancient dynasty. Jiang Yue had both parents in her life. Her father was a peddler and her mother was an embroiderer. There were two children in the family: her older sister Jiang Yue and her younger brother Jiang Ze.

Today is the wedding day of the Third Prince. Originally, Jiang Yue had no relation to the Third Prince. She came here to watch the wedding procession. The wedding party was just throwing some candy, copper coins, and other things for good luck. Originally, Jiang Yue's fate was to fall while picking up the copper coins and then be trampled to death by the crowd.

Good heavens, the concept of trampling death existed in ancient times! After looking around, Jiang Yue decided to go home first and then receive the world's plot.

Thinking of this, she ran home as soon as she left the alley. Halfway there, a purse flew and landed on Jiang Yue's head. Jiang Yue took it off and saw that it was embroidered with mandarin ducks playing in the water. Oh wow, Jiang Yue had been learning embroidery from her mother all her life and had some knowledge of it. Usually, purses that are thrown out are embroidered with simple flowers, plants, birds and insects. Jiang Yue's purse with its complicated pattern must have something nice inside.

However, Jiang Yue didn't open it immediately. There were too many people around, and it would be easy to cause trouble if someone saw it. When she got to the alley where she lived, Jiang Yue took out her purse from her bosom, opened it, and looked inside. There were six pieces of candy and a dime of silver, with the silver amounting to about half an ounce.

Don't underestimate this half tael of silver. Jiang Yue's father and mother only earn about one tael of silver a month combined. Jiang Yue has just earned half a month's income. Jiang Yue chuckled and took out two golden peanuts from her spatial storage and put them into her purse. Each peanut is worth a standard one tael. This is a good opportunity to do something sneaky. She probably won't have another chance like this in the future.

Jiang Yue had just put away her purse and entered the house when she bumped into Liu Shi, who had come out looking for her. Liu Shi reached out and grabbed Jiang Yue's ear precisely, pulling her into the house: "You brat, where did you run off to? Did you sneak off to watch the excitement? I told you not to go out today because there are too many people. You wouldn't even know if you were sold by a slave trader."

"Mom~ It hurts~, be gentle. I just looked around outside, I didn't go to any crowded places," Jiang Yue said somewhat guiltily.

"You think you can fool your old mother? I can tell what you're up to just by looking at your ass." When Liu saw Jiang Yue feigning pain, she subconsciously loosened her grip. Jiang Yue quickly broke free from her mother's grasp and ran into the house. Jiang Ze saw Jiang Yue and hurriedly came over to ask, "Sister, sister, did you find any candy?"

Jiang Yue took the candy out of her head and stuffed it into Jiang Ze's mouth. Jiang Ze's eyes lit up: "Sis, this candy is really sweet."

"You little glutton, all you ever do is eat." Jiang Yue pinched Jiang Ze's cheek.

Just then, Liu came in and was about to speak when Jiang Yue interrupted, saying, "Xiao Ze, go and close the door." She then pulled Liu into her room, and before Liu could speak, Jiang Yue took out a purse from her bosom and handed it to Liu, then said smugly, "Mother, open it and take a look."

Liu glared at Jiang Yue, opened the purse, and gasped in surprise upon seeing the gold inside. She looked at Jiang Yue in disbelief, "Where...where did this come from?"

Jiang Yue told Liu Shi the story she had fabricated. Liu Shi hugged Jiang Yue excitedly and told her not to tell anyone. Then she took the purse and went back to her room to put it away. She would discuss how to handle it when her husband returned. Jiang Yue's father had gone out to set up his stall early in the morning. He had been preparing a lot of things for the past few days, just waiting for the Third Prince's wedding today.

When Jiang Ze entered the house, Jiang Yue was sitting there drinking water. As soon as Jiang Ze came in, he ran to Jiang Yue's side, looking at her with his big, bright eyes. Jiang Yue pinched his little face and gave him the few candies in her pocket. She looked at Liu Shi and whispered to Jiang Ze, "Remember to hide them well. You can only eat one a day at most. If you eat too many, your teeth will get cavities, you know? Then you'll become a toothless little old lady."

Jiang Ze nearly dropped the candy in his hand in shock, touching his teeth with one hand as he stared wide-eyed at Jiang Yue in horror, as if to say, "Is this for real?"

Jiang Yue suppressed a laugh and said, "It's true, but it's okay to eat one piece a day."

"Sister, if I eat half a piece of candy a day, the bugs won't eat my teeth, right?" Jiang Ze said earnestly, counting on his fingers.

Oh my, the little guy is so cute. Jiang Yue patted her little brother's head and nodded at him. Jiang Ze smiled happily and went to hide his candy. Jiang Yue's mother watched as Jiang Yue tricked her little brother without saying anything. The two children had a good relationship, and the mother was happy for them.

After her younger brother hid the candy, he went to practice writing. Liu Shi also went to cook. Jiang Yue saw that the time was just right, so she went back to her room. Lying on the bed, she said to 8888 in her mind: "8888, receive the world plot."
