Chapter 53 The Third World 7 (Ruthless Village Bully X Delicate Educated Youth)

It was only then that Qifei realized she had entered a new world, a world where Shura had not yet developed feelings for her.

"Comrade Shura, you're back." Qi Fei smiled at Shura, raising her head. "I noticed you didn't go to work this afternoon, and I was a little worried, so I came to check on you."

"Who knew I'd fall asleep by accident?" Qi Fei smiled sheepishly. "Since you're alright, I'll head back to the educated youth settlement."

As she spoke, Qifei tried to stand up, but she had been sitting for too long and instead stumbled forward.

Shura reacted quickly and grabbed her, pulling her into his arms so she wouldn't fall to the ground.

"Ah, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." Qi Fei blushed and quickly left Xiu Luo's embrace.

"I'm going back now," Qifei said, and hurriedly left the Shura family.

Qifei walked ahead, and Xiuluo followed at a distance, stopping only when he saw her enter the educated youth settlement.

Someone asked Qifei where she had gone, and Qifei just smiled and said, "This is my first time in a village like this, so I went out for a walk."

Everyone could tell it was just an excuse.

However, Qifei had just arrived in the village and probably didn't know anyone. Perhaps, as she herself said, she had just wandered around the village.

Sister Mo said something ambiguous, "Don't assume that all people in the countryside are honest. Girls should be more careful when they're out in the world."

These words made Qifei smile at her, "Thank you, Sister Mo, I'll be careful."

Sister Mo rolled her eyes at Qi Fei, looking at her delicate appearance, she knew she was easy to bully.

Today at work, countless men's eyes were on her.

But she was oblivious to her own ignorance and continued to chat and laugh with that scoundrel in the village.

However, that ominous star did help her avoid many subtle glances.

When Shura got home and sat on the bed, he recalled what Qifei had said earlier.

She said she came to check on him because she hadn't seen him at work in the afternoon and was worried about him.

I don't know how long she waited.

But what does this have to do with him? It's not like he made her wait.

That's what he thought, but lying in bed, all he could see in front of Shura was Qifei's smiling face.

With a curse under his breath, Shura sat up in bed, his eyes filled with annoyance.

He dislikes things going against the plan.

Now, in his eyes, Qifei is something outside the plan.

Why isn't this woman afraid of him?

Shura is now wondering if his intimidating power has diminished, causing the woman to lose her sense of authority?

He realized he shouldn't have helped her in the morning, but seeing her sitting under the tree crying made him feel very upset.

He took the bandage, which he couldn't explain why he had brought with him, and helped bandage her wound.

Those educated youths were all very delicate, and he knew that the woman who liked to laugh would definitely not be able to handle it.

Sure enough, he saw that the woman's palms were covered in blisters, and her delicate hands were all red from being worn down.

Shura felt disgusted. How could a woman be so delicate? She was so easily agitated by doing just a little work. How was she supposed to get by in the future?

In the end, I couldn't bear to let her do any more work. The way she worked, she wouldn't finish even if she worked until dark.

Shura rolled over, then suddenly remembered something, got up again, and took out a piece of candy from his pocket—the one the woman had given him that morning.

He hesitated for a moment, then unwrapped the candy and put it in his mouth.

The sweet, milky flavor instantly filled my mouth, like a stream slowly flowing into my heart.

Shura's eyebrows relaxed. Well, that woman probably couldn't cause any trouble. He would just keep an eye on her, otherwise, with her attractive appearance, she wouldn't be able to handle those men.

Thinking of the men in the village, Shura smiled mockingly. He wanted to see if anyone was foolish enough to be so foolish.

So women are just a synonym for trouble. Why do they have to be so beautiful?

Shura thought to himself, and eventually fell asleep without realizing it, his mind filled with thoughts of Qifei until the very end.

In just a few days, the newly arrived educated youth had gone from being ambitious and determined to build up the countryside to having a bitter expression on their faces.

The older educated youth, having been through it all, understood the situation quite well, so no one mocked them.

When everyone first came here, they all came with the intention of building a better rural area.

But even the greatest passion can be worn down by the endless farm work every day.

This is a place where you have to work hard with your own hands to get a reward.

There are countless farm chores here that need to be done; empty talk is of no use here.

Qifei gradually got used to life in this era.

She ate very little each day, so although the food rations provided were small, no one said anything more.

She doesn't eat much to begin with, and she doesn't like people to bring her too much food.

Moreover, everyone could see how delicate Qifei was, so men were naturally more tolerant of her. Although women were jealous of her good looks, Qifei had a good personality, so they could still get by on the surface.

Qifei's life here has been relatively smooth, the only thing that hasn't gone smoothly is with Shura.

She discovered that Shura really was just like they said, only coming once every ten days or half a month, but when he did come, he would help her with chores.

Sometimes she would go to his house to look for him, only to find that he was never home.

The two of them were like strangers who only occasionally met, which made Qifei a little dissatisfied.

How can she win someone over if she can't even see them?

"Qifei, let's go, it'll be a while before we get there." Someone called out to Qifei from outside the door.

"I'm here," Qifei replied.

Today was a rare day off, so everyone unanimously decided to go and visit the commune.

The commune was an hour away from them, so they got up early to see if they could hitch a ride.

The "rideshare" was basically a bullock cart in the village. They didn't have any tractors in their village, but the neighboring village did have one, which made the people in their village extremely envious.

But no one in their village knows how to drive a tractor, though someone can at least drive an oxcart.

During breaks, the oxcart would occasionally carry some village goods to the commune for sale.

Now we can only sell our goods to the commune, but the commune usually doesn't offer very high prices because there are too many villages coming to sell their goods, so they don't have to worry about buying them.

However, for the village, apart from the grain handed over to the state and distributed to the villagers, the rest of the village's produce was sold to the commune so that everyone could get some money at the end of the year.

I'll sell it no matter how expensive or cheap it is.

Qifei and the others were lucky; the oxcart happened to be going to the commune to sell things today, and it could give them a ride.

This meant they wouldn't have to walk for an hour, and Qifei visibly breathed a sigh of relief.

She didn't want to walk such a long distance at all, so when they asked her to go to the commune with them, she hesitated a little, but she also wanted to see what the commune sold now, and if there was any food, she could buy some.

The main problem is that she eats coarse grains every day, and Qifei has gotten so tired of it that she doesn't want to eat anything at all.

Although she probably doesn't really care whether she eats it or not, who wouldn't want to improve their meals?
