"Take Gu Jiangli out quickly, don't let her continue to go crazy and hurt His Majesty!" The Empress said urgently, supporting the Empress Dowager. "Imperial physicians, please stop the bleeding from His Majesty's wound as soon as possible."
Two guards tried to pull Gu Jiangli away, but Gu Jiangli shouted, "We can't stop the bleeding!"
She knew that acting first and informing later would draw a barrage of criticism and condemnation, but she had no choice but to do it.
Because she knew that if she said outright that she was going to bleed the emperor to save his life, no one would believe her.
The emperor's body was of utmost importance, and in the eyes of this group, injury and bleeding were matters of great importance that affected the fate of the nation.
Even if she spoke up first, no one would listen to her and follow her advice. The end result would probably be the same as now: she would be considered crazy and taken away by the guards.
Therefore, she had to handle this herself.
The bluish-purple marks on the emperor's arm had not completely faded; those few drops of blood were simply not enough!
"I cannot stop His Majesty's bleeding! Empress Dowager! Please believe me! I will not harm His Majesty!"
The Empress Dowager's pale face showed she had been quite frightened, and there was a hint of hesitation in her eyes as she looked at her.
Seeing that the Empress Dowager remained unmoved, the imperial physicians tremblingly prepared gauze to stop the emperor's bleeding. Gu Jiangli had no other choice but to call out to the Empress Dowager once again:
"Empress Dowager! Let me accompany His Majesty; I will find the murderer who tried to kill him!"
The Empress Dowager's expression suddenly changed.
As soon as she raised her hand, the two guards stopped in their tracks.
Gu Jiangli also stopped before being led out of the house.
The Empress Dowager walked slowly toward her and took her hand as soon as she got close.
"Child, I truly do not want to believe that you are a cold-blooded and heartless person. Can you tell me why you wanted to harm the Emperor?"
Hearing this question, Gu Jiangli felt much more at ease.
If the Empress Dowager listens to her reasons, it proves that she still has a chance to stay by the Emperor's side.
"Thank you for listening to my explanation, Your Majesty. I did not intend to harm Your Majesty; I did it to save him."
Upon hearing this, several imperial physicians, along with the Empress, showed signs of doubt.
The Empress frowned and questioned, "Consort Gu's words are truly perplexing. I have never heard of using a knife to injure someone as a method of saving a life? With blood flowing like a gushing stream, isn't that just making His Majesty's condition even worse?"
The imperial physicians nodded repeatedly behind the Empress.
"Yes, how could this possibly be a way to save someone? Isn't this just deliberately making His Majesty... die even faster?"
"How could Consort Gu, a woman who knows nothing about medicine, possibly know how to save lives? This is simply harming people!"
After they finished speaking, they continued bandaging the emperor's wounds.
Upon seeing this, Gu Jiangli immediately took half a step forward, getting a few inches closer to the Empress Dowager.
"Your Majesty," she whispered in the Empress Dowager's ear, "I would never do anything to harm Your Majesty's health."
"Because I am pregnant."
The Empress Dowager's tearful eyes suddenly brightened, and her breathing instantly became rapid.
"you......"
Gu Jiangli grasped the Empress Dowager's hand with some force, "Empress Dowager, I believe this is not the time to publicize this matter."
"Please believe me, I would never joke about having children, and I would never let the child in my womb lose his father."
Gu Jiangli's eyes were firm, radiating an undeniable light.
The Empress Dowager grasped Gu Jiangli's hand in return and glanced back at the unconscious Emperor.
She suddenly made up her mind, and her voice became choked with emotion.
"My child, I believe in you, and I believe even more in the Emperor's judgment."
“He truly loves you, unlike the other concubines. I trust the Emperor’s judgment.”
Gu Jiangli's heart softened.
She was well aware that the emperor treated her differently.
Even considering the emperor's favor towards her, she wouldn't let him die a tragic death.
Not to mention she was carrying his child.
The Empress Dowager saw the tenderness in her eyes and became even more convinced of her words.
She suddenly said loudly, "Consort Gu, you just said that you can find out who murdered the Emperor. Is that true or false?"
Gu Jiangli nodded and replied in agreement, "Of course it's true."
"Very well, I believe you." She turned to the imperial physicians and said, "All of you, stop!"
The Empress Dowager's powerful roar caused the imperial physicians to stop bandaging themselves instantly.
"From now on, all of you will follow Consort Gu's instructions."
The Empress frowned, her face showing displeasure.
"Mother, this...isn't this inappropriate...His Majesty is on the verge of death, and the imperial physicians are working tirelessly to save him."
"Consort Gu doesn't know anything about medicine, how could she possibly save His Majesty's life?"
Several imperial physicians echoed this sentiment, expressing some dissatisfaction with the decision.
"Your Majesty, I know you are soft-hearted," the Empress continued. "It's fine if you trust Consort Gu, but after all, he is His Majesty. If something happens to His Majesty's health, can Consort Gu bear the responsibility?"
Gu Jiangli stepped forward: "If my arrangements cause any problems to His Majesty's health, I will confess my guilt and have no complaints, even if I am executed by slow slicing, or my entire family is exterminated."
The Empress was taken aback.
She didn't know where Gu Jiangli's confidence came from.
"In that case, can Your Majesty rest assured?"
The Empress Dowager remained calm, her expression carrying an unquestionable authority: "I have said, we will obey Consort Gu. Consort Gu's words are my words."
The Empress's usually dignified and composed face now showed signs of cracking.
She answered reluctantly, "Yes, Mother."
