Gu Jiangli was also influenced by what the Empress Dowager said.
Her body was beyond saving.
The Empress Dowager has made what she believes to be the most correct decision.
But what about the emperor?
Gu Jiangli became even more worried.
She really couldn't imagine it.
The emperor was deeply in love with her. If he knew that the birth of their child meant she might die, what would he think?
Before she could think for long, a cry echoed throughout the entire Yunguang Palace.
For a moment, the Empress Dowager's tearful eyes were glazed over.
She slowly stood up from the chair, looking somewhat dazed in the direction of the imperial physicians.
A palace maid, holding a crying child, walked up to the Empress Dowager with tears in her eyes.
"Congratulations, Your Majesty! Consort Gu has given birth to a little prince."
The Empress Dowager reached out, wanting to hold the child in her arms, but she was at a loss and didn't know where to start.
In the end, she didn't hold the child; she lowered her hands and cried even harder.
"Good...good...the little prince is good...his crying is so powerful."
The imperial physician repeatedly said, "Yes, Your Majesty, the little prince is blessed by the gods. Although he is not yet full-term, he is very healthy."
Before the Empress Dowager could even wipe away her tears of joy, she asked again, "What about Consort Gu? How is she? Is she alright?"
Just as the imperial physicians were about to reply, a gust of biting cold wind instantly stiffened their backs.
They turned their heads to look in the direction the wind was blowing, and cold sweat broke out, soaking their entire backs.
The emperor stood outside the door, his head slightly lowered, his eyes shadowed, making it impossible to see his expression.
Despite this, a chilling, murderous aura still emanated from him, subtly permeating the room.
They were not facing an emperor of a dynasty.
Instead, he is a demon from hell.
Apart from the sound of the baby crying, no one dared to speak.
It was as if everyone knew the truth at that moment.
Whoever speaks out will go to meet the King of Hell.
The emperor stepped across the threshold, each step touching the hearts of everyone present.
He completely ignored the still-crying baby and went straight to the bedside where Gu Jiangli was.
He gently took her pale hand and asked in a chilling tone, "How is Consort Gu?"
His tone was calm, revealing no emotion.
But the calmer the situation, the more chilling it becomes.
The imperial physicians nudged each other's arms, none of them willing to answer the emperor's question.
It was the Empress Dowager who came to the rescue, asking the imperial physician again, "Tell me the truth about Consort Gu's condition."
The imperial physicians looked at each other, and finally brought out the oldest one.
"Your Majesty and Empress Dowager, it is already a great blessing that Consort Gu was able to give birth to the little prince smoothly, but Consort Gu's health... I'm afraid she only has two days left."
The emperor suddenly stood up and took two long strides to the imperial physician.
He grabbed the imperial physician and lifted him up.
The previous cold and calm demeanor vanished, replaced by a fierce gaze fixed intently on the imperial physician's eyes.
"Do you think my words are just passing by?! Who gave you permission to make decisions for me?! Who gave you permission to let your child be born prematurely?!"
"I've said it before! All I want is for you to protect Consort Gu! Do you all have a death wish?!"
The imperial physician trembled, his lips turning purple. "Your Majesty... Consort Gu's life was hanging by a thread, yet she managed to save the child. We have done our utmost... Moreover, the Empress Dowager had given her permission..."
These words brought the emperor's anger to its peak. He pushed the imperial physician several feet away, and the physician fell backward to the ground.
"I will kill you!" The emperor's eyes were filled with murderous intent as he grabbed a small porcelain object and rushed towards the imperial physician.
The Empress Dowager was terrified and quickly stepped forward to embrace the Emperor around the waist.
"Your Majesty, the imperial physicians have done their utmost! If there was even a one in ten million chance of saving Consort Gu at the same time, I would not have let them give up! If you want to blame someone, blame me! It is I who harmed Consort Gu!"
The emperor's actions were stopped.
He was trembling all over, panting heavily, and his eyes were bloodshot; he looked terrifying, as if he wanted to devour someone.
In her grief, the Empress Dowager also felt some fear.
She had never seen such a terrifying expression on the emperor's face.
He actually wanted to personally kill the imperial physician by smashing a porcelain bottle with it.
It's clear that he has completely lost his mind.
"Your Majesty, I know you are heartbroken, but things have come to this. Would killing all the imperial physicians in the palace do any good?"
The emperor remained silent, his anger undiminished.
"Your Majesty, look at the child... This is your child, your only child with Consort Gu."
The Empress Dowager attempted to use the child to awaken the Emperor's rationality.
But the phrase "his and Gu Zhaoyi's only child" calmed his anger somewhat.
He didn't speak, and the hand holding the porcelain bottle slowly lowered, causing the bottle to fall to the ground and shatter.
He pushed the Empress Dowager away.
Then she turned around and walked towards Gu Jiangli's bed.
They wouldn't even spare a glance for the infant.
"Get out! All of you get out!"
The imperial physician shakily got up from the ground and knelt as he retreated outside.
The emperor stood by Gu Jiangli's bedside, holding her hand tightly, his gaze never daring to waver for even a moment.
The Empress Dowager, unable to bear seeing the Emperor in such a state, choked back tears and pleaded:
"Your Majesty, I know of your affection for this child, but... sometimes, that's just how fate is..."
“You should pull yourself together, take care of your children, and find the person who killed her.”
"I'm sure Consort Gu wouldn't want to see you in such a mad state."
