Yue Qiao'e's eyes darted around, and she unconsciously swallowed. "Nonsense, I just want to get rid of my tattoo! That's all. You have to give me the medicine today!"
Her vehement words completely drowned out the strangeness on the roof.
Yue Qiao'e was so focused on the porcelain bottle in Gu Jiangli's hand that she didn't notice the approaching danger at all.
"Gu Jiangli, give me the medicine, and Gu Xun and I will leave immediately. I swear I will never come looking for you again..."
Before she could finish speaking...
A large hole was torn in the roof of the City God Temple.
Xie Shiyan jumped off the roof and, with lightning speed, delivered a flying kick to Yue Qiao'e's back.
When Yue Qiao'e screamed and raised her head from the ground, Xie Shiyan was already holding Wen An'an safely in his arms, with several burly soldiers standing beside her.
She looked at Xie Shiyan as if she had seen a ghost.
She only realized it then.
She had completely ignored Xie Shiyan, who had never shown up.
All of the things that just happened were Gu Jiangli's way of stalling for time.
This made it easier for Xie Shiyan to lead his men down from the rooftop.
"You... ah!"
Yue Qiao'e couldn't even utter the insults she was about to say.
Several burly men stepped forward and subdued her.
Her head was pressed to the ground, and her hands were handcuffed behind her back. No matter how much she struggled, she could not break free of the restraints.
They could only watch helplessly as Xie Shiyan carried Wen An toward Gu Jiangli.
"You all deserve to die a horrible death! Gu Jiangli, you broke your promise, you are despicable and shameless!"
While busy examining Wen An's body, Gu Jiangli coldly replied:
"You've already threatened me with Wen An, why should I talk to you about morality and ethics?"
Yue Qiao'e wouldn't listen to a word she said.
The soldiers bound her body, leaving her with only her mouth that could move.
So the insults never stopped.
Gu Jiangli listened with a frown, but did not respond to her for the time being.
She only cares about Wen An now.
Fortunately, nothing bad happened to Wen An.
He could still chuckle, his big eyes looking at her with amusement.
Only when Gu Jiangli held Wen An in his arms did he finally feel completely at ease.
The insults around him hadn't stopped when Xie Shiyan finally made his move.
He walked step by step toward Yue Qiao'e, like a vengeful ghost taking lives.
He had no human compassion in his eyes; he looked at Yue Qiao'e as if she were a dead person.

Screams echoed once again from the City God Temple.

Yue Qiao'e was in so much pain that she was covered in sweat and could barely stand.
However, Xie Shiyan had no intention of stopping.
They removed her left shoulder again.
"Ah—!!!" Yue Qiao'e was in so much pain that she was delirious.
The cold sweat that slid down her forehead dripped directly into her eyes, blurring her vision.
"Enough...enough..."
Faced with excruciating pain, all she could do was beg for mercy.
"Is that enough? I don't think it's quite enough."
As soon as Xie Shiyan finished speaking, he kicked Yue Qiao'e in the knee, and Yue Qiao'e cried out in pain and collapsed.
But the soldiers on both sides were supporting her body, so she couldn't fall to the ground at all.

She was somewhat disappointed.
I thought she insisted on meeting Gu Xun because they had something else to exchange besides friendship.
Little did I know it was just to take him away.
Yue Qiao'e sensed the sarcasm in Gu Jiangli's words, and then said:
