Gu Jiangli lay on the bed, completely unwilling to move.
The emperor entered the room at some point and gently lay down beside her.
Gu Jiangli, with her eyes closed, noticed the movement beside her.
"His Majesty has arrived." She smiled, without opening her eyes.
"The Empress isn't going to change her clothes before going to sleep?"
Gu Jiangli was still wearing the formal attire for the investiture ceremony, which was bulky and heavy.
She smiled and touched the emperor's robe beside her.
"Your Majesty, you haven't taken your clothes off, have you? The gold thread on your clothes is pricking my hands."
"It's so prickly? It seems this garment is poorly made. The people in the Imperial Wardrobe should be punished."
Gu Jiangli laughed out loud, opened her eyes, and met the emperor's gentle and affectionate eyes: "Your Majesty has learned to joke now. It seems you are in a really good mood."
The emperor stroked the stray hairs on her forehead. "Of course I'm happy to finally make you empress."
"I'm also very happy that this grand ceremony is finally over. I won't have to participate in such complicated and tedious ceremonies anymore."
"Who said that? When our child ascends the throne, the enthronement ceremony will be even more complicated. As the Empress Dowager, you will inevitably have to go through that trouble again."

The emperor chuckled softly, his body completely relaxed.
Whenever she looked at Gu Jiangli, a warm feeling would flow through her heart.

"Empress, the Spring Equinox is in two days. Would you like to leave the palace with me?"
Gu Jiangli immediately became interested, "Leaving the palace? Really?"
"Really? But can we not go too far, and stay within the capital city?"
