Chapter 36 The Cursed Emperor 36 Loyal Servant shuhaige.net

So it was Du Mama, the personal maidservant of Consort Shu.

She was often called "Granny Du" so often that people didn't even know her real name was "Du Xiuwen".

When Consort Shu died suddenly, she didn't even have time to ask about the fate of the palace servants around Consort Shu.

The emperor was not so cruel as to implicate Consort Shu's family, nor did he kill all the palace servants who served her.

Therefore, Granny Du escaped a calamity by sheer luck.

If that's the case, it would explain where her resentment towards the emperor and herself came from.

In her view, the death of her master was probably caused by Gu Jiangli and the emperor.

This loyal nanny probably wanted to avenge her master, so she found an opportunity to attack them in the temple.

The moment Du Mama saw the Emperor and Gu Jiangli, her eyes widened in shock.

"You...you guys didn't die?"

How could that be?

She clearly saw Physician Sun rush to their room, and Daoyuan and Daocheng also rushed to their room.

She thought the situation was settled, and that the two of them were surely dead!

How could he not be dead?

"Of course I won't die! You wretched servant, you deserve to die a thousand deaths!"

"How is that possible? You...you didn't eat porridge? Why didn't you eat it? What right do you have not to eat it?!"

Du Xiuwen lost her temper and started cursing wildly.

"Heaven has no eyes! My master was such a good person, yet you two cruelly murdered him!"

Gu Jiangli's eyes widened upon hearing this.

How could Consort Shu be a good person?

Even as a loyal servant, her bias is way too much!

“Granny Du, Consort Shu died suddenly from illness. No one harmed her,” Gu Jiangli said gently.

"You're talking nonsense! If it weren't for you, would my mistress have died?! You bewitched His Majesty and stole the favor that originally belonged to her! You were ruthless and killed the child in her womb! You spread rumors and lured His Majesty to summon Liu Bufan to the palace!"

It's all your fault! It's all your fault!

Faced with Du Xiuwen's madness, Gu Jiangli remained calm, but the emperor was furious.

"As Consort Shu's personal maid, how could you not know why she died?! I'm sparing your life, which is already giving the Shu family enough face!"

After hearing this, Du Xiuwen burst into wild, maniacal laughter.

"Hahahaha, bah! You dog emperor, do you think I need you to spare my life?!"

The emperor had no intention of confronting her any further. With a wave of his hand, he ordered the guards behind him, "Take her down!"

Several guards rushed out from behind the emperor and walked up to Du Xiuwen, preparing to take down this woman who was powerless to kill a chicken. But no one expected that she would pull out a wood-chopping knife from behind her back.

She swiftly swung her knife twice in the air, catching the guards who came to capture her off guard and causing them to be grazed by her blade.

But Du Xiuwen rushed out the door with extraordinary speed. Disregarding her life and completely ignoring social hierarchy, she used all her strength to raise the cleaver and charge towards Gu Jiangli.

She swung the knife wildly and without any strategy, shouting, "Die, you bitch!"

"Watch out!" the emperor shouted, stepping in front of Gu Jiangli to shield him.

But Du Xiuwen did not stop at all; she even beheaded the emperor without hesitation.

The cleaver grazed the emperor's shoulder, and the smell of blood instantly filled Gu Jiangli's nostrils.

This discomfort made her feel dizzy for a moment.

Du Xiuwen saw a tall and imposing figure blocking her path, but she did not hesitate for a moment.

With a powerful swing, she sent the cleaver flying towards Gu Jiangli behind the emperor.

Gu Jiangli instinctively retreated, the falling cleaver causing her mind to go blank for a moment. This was the first time she had felt death so close to her.

"My beloved concubine!" she heard the emperor call out in a panic.

"Your Majesty, be careful!" came another exclamation.

Suddenly, she was rolled to one side in his arms and fell into a soft, small embrace.

With a clang, the machete fell to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, she escaped death.

When she came to her senses, she realized that she and Hehua were lying on the ground, and she was on top of Hehua.

"Your Majesty, are you alright?" Lotus asked anxiously from beneath her.

Gu Jiangli subconsciously shook her head. The emperor's face turned pale with fright, and he quickly picked her up from the lotus flower.

She looked at Lotus with concern, "Lotus, are you alright? Did you get hurt when I pressed down on you like that?"

She knew that a pregnant woman's body was not as strong as usual, and that if she fell heavily onto Hehua, Hehua might get hurt!

Lotus got up from the ground on her own, and smiled with relief, "If Your Highness is alright, then this servant is alright too."

She also hoped that they were all alright.

Gu Jiangli frowned, clutching her stomach with one hand.

The smell of blood at the tip of my nose grew stronger; it was coming from the emperor beside me.

"Your Majesty! You are injured!"

"A mere superficial injury is nothing to worry about. If my beloved concubine is alright, then I am alright too." Seeing that she was unharmed, the emperor finally felt relieved.

Just a moment ago, his heart was in his throat, and he almost stopped beating.

Gu Jiangli forced a smile and took two deep breaths.

Something's not right...

She doesn't seem to be alright.

Before she could speak, Du Xiuwen was pinned to the ground by several guards, her eyes blazing with intense hatred.

"Heavens are blind! Heavens are blind! They didn't even let me kill you, you vixen! I curse you! May the child in your womb be stillborn, and from the day it is born, your Great Xia Dynasty will slowly march towards its demise! Hahahaha!"
