Gu Jiangli: "? You want to duel me? Have all your teeth grown in yet?"
Could this child have lost her mind due to her mother's instigation?
"Mind your own business! You're incompetent, are you scared?"
The boy, who was barely taller than her knees, stared at her and even tried to provoke her.
Gu Jiangli's mind raced as he pondered his purpose in doing this.
Yu'er was instructed by his mother, so it wasn't a simple "duel" with her; he must have had a backup plan.
She grinned, not caring what their backup plan was. She was already pregnant, and today she would show the mother and child what truly mattered to the prince.
"Alright, how do you want to fight?"
————
This little brat is pretty good at getting things done.
He took her to the garden of the Prince's Palace, where there was an artificial lake.
Gu Jiangli recognized him; this child read by the lake every day, though most of the time he was getting beaten up there.
He threw a short wooden sword on the ground, indicating that it was for Gu Jiangli.
"You wicked woman! Listen to me, this palace is my home! Not yours! If I defeat you, you'll get out of here!"
Gu Jiangli glanced at the rough wooden dagger on the ground, but made no attempt to pick it up.
"You think you can beat me?"
"Enough with the nonsense! If you don't pick up the weapon, you've already given up!"
Gu Jiangli squatted down, wanting to see what tricks this little one was going to pull.
She had just picked up the wooden dagger and hadn't even stood up when a cold glint flashed from the hilt of the wooden sword.
There's a problem!
Just as he was thinking this, he caught a glimpse of two men in the distance down the corridor. One of them was none other than Prince Yu!
In the blink of an eye, the boy opposite her suddenly charged at her with all his might.
But his goal wasn't to stab himself, but to rush towards the dagger in her hand!
Ah... so that's what you were planning.
Seeing through his scheme in an instant, Gu Jiangli grabbed Yu'er's collar, stopping him from rushing forward.
At that moment, Yu'er's hand was holding the dagger in her hand.
It turns out the wooden dagger was fake; the wooden outer casing was actually a sheath-like outer shell that could be pulled out by sliding it forcefully.
Inside the scabbard was a real steel knife capable of drawing blood.
When Yu'er saw that Gu Jiangli had stopped her with just one hand, she immediately opened her mouth to shout.
“Yu’er,” Gu Jiangli called his name, which unexpectedly silenced him. “I know what you’re planning. You’re giving me a fake wooden dagger, and when the prince gets close, you’re going to rush over and draw it from its sheath. Ideally, I’ll stab you, using this self-inflicted injury to make the prince think I’m a vicious and heartless woman, right?”
Yu'er struggled desperately to break free from Gu Jiangli's grasp, but Gu Jiangli's hands were tightly gripping his chest, and he was too weak to break free.
"You wicked woman! Let me go!"
"Do you believe it? Even if your plan succeeds and I become a wicked woman, your uncle will not kick me out of the manor."
Yu'er struggled violently, "You damned woman, let me go right now! It's all your fault for bewitching Uncle, that's why he's changed so much! Get out of here and give us back our old Uncle!"
Gu Jiangli chuckled and said, "Yu'er, although you are young, you have already learned how to use the self-inflicted injury ruse under your mother's tutelage. But unfortunately, when I used the self-inflicted injury ruse, your mother probably wasn't even born yet."
"What nonsense are you talking about!"
"Don't you believe me? Actually, you and your mother haven't grasped the essence of the 'bitter trick.' This kind of tactic is only effective on people who care about you. Want to see it?"
"You're crazy! Let go of me! I'm going to scream!"
Her eerie smile sent chills down your spine.
“Yu’er, you’re too young. You don’t have the talent for acting. Let me do it.”
Yu'er: "?"
Gu Jiangli counted the time, and the moment Prince Yu appeared at the end of the corridor, he grabbed Yu'er's shoulder and rolled forcefully to the side.
"Plop"
A huge splash erupted from the lake, hitting the flowers in the garden.
"Your Highness!" Prince Yu's expression changed drastically. Before he could even say a word to the person beside him, he jumped into the lake.
"Yu'er!" Lan Shuang suddenly appeared out of nowhere, shouting frantically, "Help! Are you all blind?! Can't you see the young master has fallen into the water?!"
She frantically directed her servants to jump into the lake one by one, frantically peering at the situation in the lake from the shore.
Gu Jiangli felt that she had been in the water for no more than ten seconds before being rescued.
She didn't choke on water, but now she has to pretend she choked on a lot of water.
"Cough cough cough...Your Highness..."
"Are you alright?" Prince Yu asked with concern. He quickly took a cloak and covered her with it, then pulled her into his arms. He then instructed the people behind him, "Go and fetch a doctor immediately!"
"Your Highness, I'm alright, but what about Yu'er? He fell into the water too!"
Gu Jiangli asked anxiously.
She knew Yu'er was alright; when he fell into the water, she thoughtfully carried him so he could breathe on the surface.
Since the time she was in the water was not long, Yu'er would be fine.
A group of people carried Yu'er up, and Lan Shuang rushed over, crying and shouting.
"Yu'er! My Yu'er! Open your eyes and look at your mother!"
Yu'er spat out a mouthful of water, threw herself into Lan Shuang's arms, and started crying.
