Chapter 76 The Wealthy but Childless Prince (35)

Gu Jiangli was overjoyed.

This young man looks very young, but he is actually quite capable.

You can visualize the layout and structure of the mine tunnels in the mountains just by thinking about it.

"If we dig from here, with only these few brothers, how long will it take?" Gu Jiangli asked excitedly.

The young man and his companions exchanged glances, then said firmly:

"We've put in all our effort, and we should arrive before noon tomorrow!"

Gu Jiangli felt much more at ease. "Then I'll have to trouble you."

We'll be able to see the prince at noon tomorrow.

She believed that the prince and his men would be able to hold on.

The child stopped fussing in her arms, seemingly having fallen asleep peacefully as his brothers decided to dig through the mountain to rescue him.

Gu Jiangli stood there all night.

As the sun rose the next day, several craftsmen passed by a few young men and made sarcastic remarks.

"Hmph, you actually believe that woman? What does she know? She's just a woman, what is she? She's just hallucinating from worry. And you actually dug it up for her? Isn't that just a waste of your energy?"

The young men ignored their mockery and were single-mindedly focused on saving lives.

But they still wouldn't give up.

"I'm telling you, that's enough. It's been a whole day and night. If they still had the strength to call for help, we would have heard them long ago. Now, all this digging up of the mountain is just for show in front of His Majesty, isn't it?"

Another person chimed in, "Exactly! Even a fool could figure that out, right? Those missing people are probably long gone. You young folks should hurry up and persuade that woman to go back. What if you dig up some broken arms and legs and scare her?"

Hearing this, the young man finally couldn't hold back any longer. He threw down his shovel and said aggressively:

"You're just putting on an act for His Majesty! How disgusting!"

"Don't you know that among the missing people, besides the Crown Prince, there is also the Prince who has been so caring towards us! Don't you know that there are our brothers among them?"

"We used to call each other brothers, but now that I've seen your true colors, I feel so sorry for those missing brothers!"

"You!" the older man said angrily, "You blockhead, what do you know! Do you think His Majesty doesn't know that the Crown Prince is gone? Do you think that woman really still thinks her family is alive?"

"They are merely exploiting our efforts to satisfy their last remaining sliver of hope!"

"You're not expecting that woman to thank you, are you? Let me tell you, if you listen to her and fail to rescue them, she'll blame you first!"

The young man was hot-blooded and couldn't stand being spoken to nicely. "Do you think everyone is as shameless as you?!"

The two went back and forth, and more and more people gradually gathered around to take sides with them.

Gu Jiangli's head was spinning from listening to the argument. She didn't want to hear any more arguing and just wanted to focus on saving people.

Just as the two groups were about to make a move, she was about to speak up to stop them when two soft prying sounds suddenly came from inside the wall.

It was so soft that only Gu Jiangli, who hadn't joined the argument, heard it.

"Shut up, all of you!" she shouted, her imposing presence silencing everyone who stared at her in stunned silence.

"Listen, can you hear anything inside?"

The young man was the first to react, and he quickly shoved himself against the stone wall. Everyone remained silent, even the old craftsman who had just argued with him was now as quiet as a chicken.

Three knocks, "thump, thump, thump," sounded like the muffled thud of a large stone hitting a wall.

The powerful voice reached the ears of everyone present.

Everyone heard it!

"There's really someone inside!" the young man exclaimed with great joy. "Can you hear me? Knock again!"

His words were immediately answered with knocking from inside. There were three more knocks, "thump thump thump."

The young men who had been digging in the mountain erupted in cheers, hugging each other excitedly. "There's someone still alive! They're in here!"

Not only were they alive, but they were also conscious, able to hear what they were saying and respond to it.

This is such a wonderful surprise!

The old craftsman who had been arguing with them was also dumbfounded, his eyes trembling wildly.

"That woman was right? She's really... still alive?"

"I told you! I knew it! This woman wouldn't lie! They're still alive, they're in here!"

After hearing the reply from the mountain, the young man was filled with strength and shouted to his brothers, "Let's dig faster and try to get them out as soon as possible!"

"Alright!" The young men were filled with fighting spirit and picked up their shovels with all their might.

Gu Jiangli was also overjoyed and said to the other group of people who were still immersed in surprise and joy:

"I told you before, but you didn't believe me. Now you believe me, right?"

A group of people nodded blankly.

I believe it.

No matter how unbelievable it is, we have no choice but to believe it!

Gu Jiangli then said, "What are you all standing there for? Let's dig together!"

They only then came to their senses.

When faced with a living, breathing human being, what's the point of arguing!

Moreover, among those still alive inside, there is a high possibility that Prince Yu and the Crown Prince are among them. If they are rescued, wouldn't there be a reward?

Some people rushed back to grab shovels and charged toward Gu Jiangli.

Even the old craftsman who started the argument brought his tools and joined them.

With many hands making light work, the muffled knocking sounds from the mountains soon became clearer and clearer.
