Chapter 19: Quickly Wearing and Falling in Love with the Dark CEO
"Mr. Lin, excuse me for being blunt, but your company's recent investment projects really lack highlights." I put down the champagne in my hand, speaking in a cold tone, but the sound of dropping the bottle to the ground was particularly abrupt in the banquet hall where people were toasting each other.
The eyes around me instantly gathered around me, with a sense of inquiry and excitement. But I didn't care at all, my eyes were looking straight ahead, at the man surrounded by people - the president of Lin Group, Lin Yehan.
He still maintained his perfect smile, but his deep eyes flashed with a barely perceptible interest, and he opened his thin lips slightly: "Oh? Then Master Feng, what kind of project do you think is a highlight?"
I smiled and was about to speak when I caught a glimpse of a familiar figure walking by. Oh no! Where is my assistant Xiao Ai? I remember I gave her the file bag, why is she nowhere to be seen?
"Sorry, excuse me." I ignored Lin Yehan's expression and hurried through the crowd, but I couldn't find Xiao Ai. My heart tightened. The document was extremely important and there must be no mistakes!
After the party, I sat in the hotel lobby in despair. I searched my entire handbag, but still couldn't find the document bag. Could it be... really lost?
"Looking for this?"
The deep, magnetic voice echoed by itself, and I turned around suddenly, and saw that Lin Yehan was holding the document bag that made me so anxious.
Lin Yehan, the head of the Lin Family Group, is 190cm tall and handsome. He is one of the few promising young men in the city and basically controls the city's economic lifeline. Although he is 35 years old, his appearance is no different from that of a young man in his early twenties. He exudes nobility and gives people a cool and handsome feeling.
"How could you have this?" I stood up in astonishment and looked at him in disbelief.
"After the banquet, I went to the parking lot and found your briefcase on the side of the road." He handed the briefcase to me with a meaningful smile on his face. "It seems that Miss Mu is not that concerned about her own project."
I was speechless for a moment, and took the file bag with mixed feelings. I should be happy to have found this file, but when I thought about my previous gaffe and how Lin Yehan had seen me being so wicked, my cheeks couldn't help but get hot.
"As compensation," Lin Yehan suddenly said, his tone unquestionable, "Be my assistant."
I was stunned. This sudden proposal caught me off guard. Becoming his assistant? How is this compensation?
"Mr. Lin, I think..."
"Don't even bother to say no." He interrupted me, his deep eyes seemed to see through everything, "You don't have a choice."
I clenched the document bag tightly in my hand, and my fingertips turned white. I knew that I had fallen into his rhythm, and I was powerless to resist.
"It's decided." He left with these words, turned around and left. His tall and straight figure disappeared into the night, leaving me with only his cold profile.
I took a deep breath and tried to suppress the emotions that were surging in my heart. Becoming his assistant meant that I would have to give up my current job and face this overbearing and powerful man every day... But, did I still have any choice?
The next day, I completed the resignation procedures and officially became Lin Yehan's assistant.
“Have you sorted out the documents?”
"Where are the minutes of the meeting?"
"Coffee, thank you."
I was spinning around him like a top, and I was exhausted every day. What was worse was that I found myself making mistakes all the time. I either misplaced documents or forgot to record meeting points. Once, I even spilled scalding coffee on his documents.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I apologized frantically, wishing I could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
"Don't panic." He was surprisingly calm, and there wasn't a trace of blame in his deep eyes. Instead, there was a hint of... doting?
He personally demonstrated the techniques of organizing documents, patiently explained the key points of meeting minutes, and even taught me how to brew a perfect cup of coffee. His voice was deep and magnetic, with a reassuring power. I looked at his focused profile and couldn't help but feel a little strange.
Why? Why is he so nice to me?
"What? Are you not satisfied with my guidance?" He raised his eyebrows and looked at me with a playful smile on his lips.
"No, no..." I shook my head hurriedly, but my cheeks turned red uncontrollably.
"Then study hard." He retracted his gaze and continued to deal with the documents, his tone returning to his usual coldness.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but I was also more confused. His gentleness, his patience, his meticulousness, all made me feel at a loss. What on earth was he trying to do?
That night, I returned home and found my younger brother Feng Chenyang sitting in the living room with a gloomy face.
"Brother, have you really become the assistant of Lin Yehan?" He spoke in a bad tone, his eyes full of hostility.
"Yeah." I nodded, feeling a little uneasy.
"Brother, you are so confused! How could you work for that man?" Mu Chenyang stood up suddenly, emotionally excited, "Have you forgotten how he treated us?"
My heart suddenly sank, and a chill ran straight up from my feet to my heart. My brother's words were like a bolt of lightning, bringing me back to reality. Five years ago, Lin Yehan descended like a god and bought our company, which was on the verge of collapse. My father fell ill and passed away soon after. Although Lin Yehan's actions at the time were not wrong, our family fell into trouble because of it. I have always kept this account in my heart.
"Chenyang, things are not what you think..." I tried to explain, but I didn't know where to start.
"Brother, stop deceiving yourself!" Mu Chenyang interrupted me, "He must have a purpose for approaching you, you must be careful!"
I was powerless to refute and could only let my brother's worry and anger overwhelm me.
I was restless for the next few days. Lin Yehan seemed to notice something was wrong with me, but he said nothing and just took better care of me.
"Take a break if you're tired. The documents are not urgent." He put a cup of steaming hot coffee on my desk and looked at me with concern.
I raised my head and met his deep eyes, feeling mixed emotions. The aroma of coffee spread, dispelling the chill in my heart and causing ripples in my heart.
"Thank you," I whispered, not daring to meet his eyes.
"There's a dinner party tonight, you come with me." He said suddenly, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
"Dinner party?" I looked up in surprise. "I have never attended such an event before..."
"This is an important opportunity." He interrupted me, with an elusive emotion flashing in his deep eyes, "You can take this opportunity to better understand this circle."
There was a hint in his words, but he didn't say it clearly. I became even more confused, but I had a vague feeling that this might be an opportunity to change my fate, or it might be... a dangerous trap.
