Chapter 22 Quickly Transmigrated! Going Bankrupt Overnight and Becoming the Young Master’s Bodyguard (25)
Their righteous words made me feel warm. It turned out that even in this cold and aloof mansion, there was still warmth and friendship.
Captain Zhao's face turned ugly. He didn't expect someone to stand up and speak for me. He glared at them fiercely, "What do you know? This is the rules! Do you understand the rules?"
"Rules are dead, but people are alive." Xiao Li looked back at him fearlessly, "We all believe that Brother Lin didn't mean it."
For a moment, the atmosphere was tense. I looked at these colleagues who spoke up for me, and my heart was filled with gratitude. I took a deep breath and was about to speak, but I heard Shen Haoxuan say coldly: "That's enough. This matter ends here."
I thought he was going to help me out, and just when I had a glimmer of hope, it was extinguished by his next words. "Feng Ziang, I will take care of the camera issue, and you continue to focus on improving the security loopholes."
After he finished speaking, he turned and left without even looking at me.
I stood there, feeling like an abandoned toy, my heart filled with bitterness and confusion. Shen Haoxuan's attitude was incomprehensible to me. His indifference and alienation were like a sharp knife, piercing my heart. I tried hard to understand his thoughts, but I could never find the answer.
I quietly returned to my room, closed the door, and leaned against it weakly. The sky outside the window was gloomy, just like my mood. Just then, there was a knock on the door... "Mr. Feng, Steward Sun wants you to come over."
The knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I took a deep breath and opened the door. Standing outside the door was the Shen family's housekeeper Sun. He still had a serious look, but there seemed to be less scrutiny in his eyes.
"Butler Sun, are you looking for me?" I tried my best to sound calm.
"Mr. Feng, please follow me." After Butler Sun finished speaking, he turned and walked deeper into the corridor. I followed him silently, feeling uneasy, not knowing what decision he was going to announce.
Steward Sun took me to a study and motioned me to sit down. "Mr. Feng, the young master has already understood the situation regarding the camera. I will not hold you responsible this time."
I was stunned for a moment. I didn't expect things to take such a turn. I thought at least part of my salary would be deducted, or even fired, but I didn't expect Shen Haoxuan to just let it go.
"Young Master also said that you are very dedicated to security work and have discovered many loopholes in the monitoring system. This is very good. I hope you will continue to work hard and do your job well." Butler Sun paused and added, "Young Master attaches great importance to safety."
I nodded, feeling mixed emotions. Shen Haoxuan's behavior made me even more confused. He was cold and lenient at one moment, and then he showed me mercy at another. This hot-and-cold attitude made me feel at a loss.
"Thank you, Butler Sun, and thank you, Master." I whispered.
Butler Sun nodded, stood up and left the study. I sat in the chair for a long time without moving. Shen Haoxuan's action undoubtedly gave me a chance to breathe and gave me a little more hope for the future. At least, for now, my job is saved.
As night fell, I sat alone in the room, with a lot of thoughts in my mind. Everything that happened today was replaying in my mind like a movie, especially Shen Haoxuan's changeable attitude, which made me feel confused.
I began to reflect on the relationship between myself and Shen Haoxuan. From the initial employment relationship to the daily interactions, my heart seemed to have undergone subtle changes. His eyes, movements, and even words could easily affect my emotions. I realized that I might have fallen into an emotional vortex that I shouldn't have.
This feeling made me feel scared and painful. I knew clearly that there was a huge gap between him and me. The gap in status and family background was like an insurmountable mountain between us.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. Now is not the time to think about these things. I need to focus on my work and prove my worth with practical actions. Emotional matters are too complicated and too extravagant. I am not qualified to touch them for the time being.
I stood up and walked to the window, looking at the bright night view outside, and silently made a decision in my heart. I would put all my energy into work and not think about things that I shouldn't think about.
Suddenly, there was a slight knock on the door... "Feng Ziang, it's me."
"Feng Ziang, it's me." Shen Haoxuan's voice came from outside the door, low and slightly hoarse.
My heartbeat quickened, and my hands unconsciously clenched the curtains. I took a deep breath and opened the door.
Shen Haoxuan stood outside the door, wearing only a thin silk nightgown with a slightly open collar, revealing his delicate collarbone. His hair was a little messy, and there was a barely perceptible fatigue in his eyes.
"Is there something wrong, Master?" I tried my best to sound calm, but my voice was still trembling.
He didn't say anything, just looked at me quietly, his eyes were so deep that I dared not look directly at him. The few seconds of silence seemed as long as a century.
"Come in," he finally said, his voice as low as the bass of a cello.
I stepped aside to let him in, then closed the door. The room was very quiet, with only the sound of our breathing clearly audible. Shen Haoxuan walked to the window, looking at the night view outside, his back seemed a little lonely.
"What happened today..." He paused, as if he was organizing his words, "Thank you."
I was stunned for a moment, not understanding what he was referring to. Was it about the camera? Or something else?
"I...I just did what I should do." I whispered, not daring to look him in the eye.
"I know." He turned and looked at me. "You did a great job."
His eyes were complicated, I couldn't understand them, and I didn't dare to delve into them. I was afraid that I would be lost in his gentle gaze and unable to extricate myself.
"In the future... you must keep working hard." His tone became gentler, with a barely perceptible tenderness.
"I will," I answered firmly, suppressing all my emotions.
Shen Haoxuan was silent for a moment, then turned and walked towards the door. When he reached the door, he stopped and said to me with his back to me, "Go to bed early."
"So does the young master." I whispered.
He closed the door gently, and the room returned to silence. I walked to the window and watched his figure disappear at the end of the corridor, feeling mixed emotions.
I don't know why he came to see me tonight, nor do I know what he is thinking. His hot and cold behavior makes me more confused. But I know clearly that I can't go on like this. I need to stay sober, focus on my work, and not let my emotions affect my judgment.
