Chapter 32: Quickly Wearing and Falling in Love with the Dark CEO (Fourteen)

"Zi'ang, who could have done this prank? Don't worry, I'll find out." Lin Yehan held my hand, his tone gentle but unable to conceal the solemnity in his eyes. I nodded calmly, but my heart felt heavy as if a huge rock was pressing down on it.

I was still a child when my mother passed away. I only remember that she was always coughing and was very weak. My father said she had an acute illness, but now it seems that things may not be that simple.

"You go back first, let me handle this matter." Lin Yehan said, and sent me to the car. I looked at his car going away, and my heart was in turmoil. When I got home, my mind was full of the content of the letter, my mother's voice and smile, and Lin Yehan's abnormal behavior. Everything was like a mess, making me unable to think.

In the next few days, Lin Yehan always went out early and came back late. I asked him how the investigation was going, but he always avoided the main point and said that he had found some clues and asked me not to worry. But his eyes could not deceive me, and there was clearly something on his mind. I secretly looked through his mobile phone, but found that his recent call records and text messages had been deleted, which increased my suspicion. What is he hiding? Could this letter really be related to him?

My heart was getting heavier and heavier, and I was surrounded by an inexplicable fear. I started to suffer from insomnia and nightmares. My mother's pale face and the strange letter always appeared in my dreams. I felt like I was trapped in a fog, unable to find the direction and hope. Until that day, I found an ancient parchment scroll in Lin Yehan's study. It contained some content in a language I had never seen before, and the portrait at the beginning of the scroll was my mother!

With shaking hands, I opened the scroll and tried to read the words. Finally, I found a translation at the end of the scroll: The Feng family has been bullied for generations, only... The following words were torn off, leaving only a missing word "詛", which stung my eyes like a sharp blade.

The parchment scroll in my hand slipped off, and my eyesight was blurred by tears. Curse? Could my mother's illness be related to this so-called curse? What about Lin Yehan? How much does he know? Is his abnormal behavior recently caused by this? Various speculations entangled me like vines, making me almost suffocate.

I stumbled out of the study and bumped into Lin Yehan who was coming back. When he saw how distraught I was, a trace of panic flashed across his eyes: "Zi'ang, what's wrong with you?"

I pushed him away, my voice trembling: "What on earth is going on? Why didn't you tell me?"

He was stunned for a moment, obviously not understanding what I was referring to. I pointed in the direction of the study, and my voice became louder with excitement: "Where did you get that scroll? Is it related to what you have been investigating?"

He was silent, his eyes flickering.

"Speak!" My heart felt like it was torn apart. Could it be that his kindness to me was just to find out the truth about this so-called curse?

"Zi'ang, listen to my explanation..." He tried to get closer to me, but I pushed him away.

"What else is there to explain? You've been lying to me!" I turned and ran back to the room, slamming the door shut.

I hid in the room, listening to his deep voice outside the door, my heart was broken. I didn't know what to do, I loved him, but I couldn't accept his concealment and deception.

As for Lin Yehan, he looked at the closed door with a frown. The appearance of the letter had already made him confused, and now the discovery of the parchment scroll made him even more anxious. He had to find out the truth as soon as possible to protect Ziang, but the clues were like a huge net that trapped him. Every time he thought he was about to get to the truth, it was ruthlessly cut off.

He didn't know who was behind all this, but he had a hunch that a bigger storm was coming.

The room was terribly quiet, with only my suppressed sobbing echoing. I didn't know how long I cried until there was a gentle knock on the door.

"Brother, please open the door. You will get sick if you keep staying like this." It was Chen Yang's voice. He sounded crying, like a wounded little animal, which made me feel distressed.

I took a deep breath, calmed down, and opened the door. Chen Yang's eyes were red, and when he saw my haggard appearance, tears began to well up in his eyes again.

"Sister, don't cry. Did your brother-in-law bully you? I'll go and teach him a lesson for you!" As he said this, he waved his little fists, as if he was going to settle the score with Lin Yehan.

I was amused by his innocent look and pinched his face: "Silly boy, it's adults' business, kids shouldn't get involved."

"But..." Chen Yang wanted to say something, but was interrupted by me.

"Okay, I'm really fine, go and have a rest."

I closed the door and leaned against it, feeling confused. I knew Chen Yang was worried about me, but I couldn't tell him.

At this moment, the phone suddenly rang. It was Shen Yichen calling.

"Hey, Yichen."

"Zi'ang, are you okay? I heard from Ye Han that you two seemed to have had a fight?" Shen Yichen's voice was filled with worry.

I smiled bitterly and shook my head, but said nothing.

"Zi'ang, are you worried about something? Is there any misunderstanding between you and Ye Han?" Shen Yichen has always been meticulous and he quickly noticed that something was wrong with me.

I hesitated for a moment, but finally decided to confess to him: "Senior, I discovered something, about Lin Yehan, and about myself..."

I told him about the parchment scroll. After listening to me, Shen Yichen was silent for a long time.

"I will help Ye Han find out about this matter." He said firmly, "Don't worry, we will find out the truth and protect you and Chen Yang."

I looked at him gratefully, and a glimmer of hope ignited in my heart. Perhaps, the senior's joining in can help Lin Yehan solve the mystery as soon as possible, and also eliminate the misunderstanding between us as soon as possible. The senior's words gave me great comfort, and I began to try to believe in Lin Yehan, and believe that everything he did was for my own good.

However, this unreasonable belief makes me even more uneasy.

A few days later, Lin Yehan seemed to have changed. He was no longer cold-faced, but showed concern for me and even prepared a candlelight dinner. I thought the misunderstanding was resolved and was about to ask, but he gently interrupted: "Zi'ang, give me some time, I will tell you everything soon."

His eyes were sincere and affectionate, and I almost believed that the gloom was just my illusion. However, every time when it was late at night and I saw his tired figure, my heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and I couldn't breathe.

Until that day, Lin Yehan suddenly told me that he was going on a business trip for a few days and asked me to wait for him to come back. I watched him pack his luggage, wanting to say something but hesitating, and finally said nothing.

After he left, I received an anonymous package, which contained an antique key and a yellowed photo. The photo showed a couple, the man was handsome, and the woman was gentle and elegant, and her features were somewhat similar to mine.

Before I could come to my senses, the doorbell rang urgently. I opened the door and saw Shen Yichen, who looked panicked.

"Zi'ang, this is bad, Ye Han..." He spoke hastily, but suddenly stopped in my shocked gaze, and looked at the photo and key in my hand with complicated eyes, "You...how did you get this?"
