Chapter 51 Quickly Travel! Fate of Ice Star (Part 3)
“…I understand your concerns.”
Shu Yang looked around and his eyes finally fell on the document in his hand, which was the latest survey report submitted by Wang Botu.
"Mr. Zhao's concerns are not without reason. The environment on Ice Planet is harsh, resource exploration is difficult, and rash development carries huge risks."
He paused, his tone becoming firm, "But as Feng Ziang said, Ice Star's resources are related to everyone's future. We can't stand still because we are afraid of risks!"
"Director Shu, what you mean is..." a young researcher asked tentatively.
"My decision is to set up a special project team to further evaluate the feasibility of developing resources on the ice planet."
Shu Yang said decisively, "Mr. Zhao, you are experienced and very familiar with the environment of Bingxing. You will be the leader of the special team and be responsible for formulating a detailed exploration plan and safety plan."
"Manager Shu, you want me to be the bad guy!"
Engineer Zhao smiled bitterly and shook his head. He knew Shu Yang was trying to balance the opinions of all parties, but he still felt that this project was too risky.
"Feng Ziang, you are passionate about resource development. I believe you can provide many valuable suggestions to the special team."
Shu Yang ignored Engineer Zhao's complaints and continued, "You will serve as the deputy leader of the special team and assist Engineer Zhao in completing various tasks."
"Yes! I guarantee to complete the task!"
Feng Ziang stood up excitedly and saluted in a standard military salute. He couldn't wait to personally participate in this great project that concerned the fate of Bingxing.
"Wang Botu..."
Shu Yang's eyes finally fell on the old man who had remained silent. "Your research data is the key to the success of the project. I hope you can continue to provide support."
"Manager Shu, regarding the resource distribution situation..."
Wang Botu hesitated to speak. He pushed his glasses on the bridge of his nose and frowned slightly. "My research data shows that there is a huge unknown area in the southern polar region of the ice star..."
"Unknown area?"
Shu Yang's heart skipped a beat, and he realized that Wang Botu's next words would be crucial.
"Yes, this area is huge, and my detectors can't penetrate the thick ice, so..."
Wang Botu paused, his tone becoming a little serious, "It may contain rich resources that we have never discovered, or it may be..."
"There may be dangers that we cannot overcome, right?" Shu Yang said the second half of the sentence for him.
“Yes.”
Wang Botu nodded, a trace of worry flashing in his eyes, "My research data shows that the magnetic field in that area is very strong, and..."
He paused again, as if trying to organize his words. After a moment, he slowly said, "There seems to be some kind of...energy fluctuation that we cannot understand."
Shu Yang was silent. He realized that he was facing a dilemma: should he venture into unknown areas to search for precious resources that could change the fate of Ice Star, or should he stick to the known safe areas and continue to live a difficult life with scarce resources?
"Manager Shu,"
Feng Ziang broke the silence, "I want to apply to join the advance team to explore that unknown area!"
Shu Yang raised his head, looked at Feng Ziang firmly, then looked at the others, and said slowly: "I have decided..."
"...I have decided to form a vanguard team and lead it myself!" Shu Yang spoke each word with a firm tone that left no room for doubt.
There was an uproar in the conference room, and everyone looked at each other. No one expected Shu Yang to make such a bold decision.
Engineer Zhao frowned, hesitating to speak. He knew Shu Yang's determination, and also knew that it was futile to dissuade him.
"I'll go with Manager Shu!"
Feng Ziang was the first to step forward and respond, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
For him, exploring the unknown and challenging the limits are instincts engraved in his bones, not to mention that this action is related to the future of Bingxing.
"I'll go too. My data might be useful there."
Wang Botu pushed his glasses, and a rare hint of excitement appeared on his old face.
The unknown area is both a challenge and an opportunity for him. He is eager to unlock the secrets of that area, and even more eager for his research to bring new hope to Ice Star.
"In that case, Lao Zhao, the logistics supply will be handed over to you."
Shu Yang patted Engineer Zhao on the shoulder, his tone filled with unquestionable trust.
"Hey, you young people..."
Engineer Zhao shook his head helplessly. He knew he couldn't stop this group of people who were full of passion and dreams. He could only sigh and say, "I will do my best to ensure your safety."
Three days later, a specially modified exploration spacecraft left the Ice Star Base and flew towards the unknown area in Antarctica.
On the spaceship, Shu Yang, Feng Ziang, Wang Botu and several experienced engineers were busy working nervously. They were fully aware of the danger of this mission and dared not relax at all.
The environment in the unknown area is worse than expected. The violent magnetic field interferes with the spacecraft's navigation system. Fatal cracks are hidden under the thick ice. From time to time, strange and unknown creatures attack the spacecraft.
"Be careful to avoid! Activate the energy shield!"
Shu Yang directed calmly, his eyes fixed on the radar screen the entire time, the joystick in his hand as steady as a rock.
"The energy shield strength has dropped to 70%!" An engineer's voice trembled slightly.
"Activate backup power! Keep moving forward!"
Shu Yang did not hesitate at all, he knew that retreating now would mean wasting all his previous efforts.
"Report! A huge ice cave was discovered!"
"Prepare for landing!"
Shu Yang made a prompt decision, "Feng Ziang, you and Wang Botu come with me, and the others stay on the airship."
Deep in the ice cave, it was pitch black, with only the beam of light from the searchlight barely illuminating the road ahead.
Shu Yang walked in front, holding an energy gun tightly in his hand, and vigilantly observing the surrounding environment.
"careful!"
Feng Ziang suddenly grabbed Shu Yang and protected her behind him.
A huge ice worm poked its head out from the ice wall, opened its bloody mouth, and pounced towards them.
"Fire!"
Shu Yang pulled the trigger without hesitation, and a beam of energy hit the ice worm's head, making a deafening explosion.
The ice worm twisted its body in pain, knocking down a large section of the ice wall, causing ice chips to fly everywhere. The situation was extremely critical.
Shu Yang and the other two stood back to back, tensely on guard. From time to time, they could hear the sound of ice breaking, as if something was approaching them.
"This place... doesn't seem to be naturally formed..."
Wang Botu's voice was trembling as he pointed to a smooth ice wall in front of him, on which there seemed to be some patterns carved.
Shu Yang walked forward, illuminated the ice wall with a flashlight, and carefully identified the pattern on it.
"This... this is..."
Shu Yang's pupils suddenly shrank, and his tone was full of disbelief, "This is impossible..."
Shu Yang looked at the scene in front of him in disbelief. The patterns carved on the ice wall were clearly... human words!
