Chapter 6 Quick Guide to the God of Elements (Twenty-one)
I took a deep breath, got up from the ground, and looked at him firmly: "It's not over yet!"
I took a defensive stance, watching Morpheus' every move with full concentration. I knew that with my current strength, it would be unwise to confront him head-on. I had to find his weakness to have a chance to defeat him.
Morpheus attacked again, the long sword in his hand dancing like a spirit snake, each move was fierce, aiming directly at my vital points. I nimbly avoided his attacks with the agility I had trained over the years.
The atmosphere on the arena became tense. The audience held their breath and stared at us intently, afraid of missing any exciting moments.
I dodged Morpheus's attacks while searching for his weakness. I noticed that although his attacks were powerful, they lacked variety, and his defense seemed too tight, which made me feel a little strange.
"Could it be..." My heart moved, and a bold idea came to my mind.
I decided to take a chance!
When Morpheus attacked me again, I didn't choose to dodge, but rushed towards his sword.
"You're crazy!"
Morpheus obviously did not expect me to do this, and there was a hint of surprise in his eyes.
However, just as my fist was about to hit his chest, he suddenly retracted his sword, leaned back, and easily avoided my attack.
My heart sank and I thought to myself, oh no, I’ve fallen into a trap!
Sure enough, just as I was about to retreat, Morpheus curled up a sly smile, and the long sword in his hand pierced out like lightning, pointing straight at my heart.
"You've been fooled!"
"You've been fooled!" Morpheus' voice was as cold as ice, with a hint of joy of victory.
I cursed inwardly. After all my calculations, I still underestimated this guy's cunning. He deliberately sold the trick just to lure me in! Damn it, if I didn't like him, would I let him lead me by the nose?
I felt a sharp pain in my heart. I knew that even with my speed, I couldn't completely avoid the sword. I gritted my teeth and jerked my body to the side, barely avoiding the fatal blow. The tip of the sword tore through my clothes, leaving a shallow blood mark on my chest with eight abdominal muscles.
"Hiss..." I took a breath of cool air. This boy is so cruel!
"Why, are you afraid of this?"
Morpheus was not disappointed when he missed the target. Instead, he became more excited. There was a gleam of teasing in his eyes. "If you admit defeat now, I can consider sparing your life."
"Give up? What a joke!"
I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth and stared at him with burning eyes, "In my dictionary, there is no word like 'give up'!"
"Very good, you have guts!"
Morpheus sneered, shook the long sword in his hand, and attacked me again, "Then let me see how long you can hold on!"
I took a deep breath, endured the pain in my chest, and braced myself for his attack. I knew there was no way out, I had to go all out to win this match!
Morpheus's attack came like a violent storm, and I was like a small boat, struggling hard to survive in the turbulent waves. I kept dodging and blocking, looking for opportunities to counterattack.
Finally, the opportunity came!
Morpheus thrust his sword forward, and I deliberately failed to dodge. Seeing this, Morpheus' eyes flashed with a hint of pride, and the long sword in his hand stabbed at my chest with eight abdominal muscles without hesitation.
However, just when he was about to succeed, a sly smile appeared on the corner of my mouth.
"You've been fooled!" I growled, and my body disappeared from the spot like a ghost.
Mofeis was startled, and before he could react, he felt a strong wind coming from behind. I didn't know when I had circled behind him and slapped his back.
"Not good!" Morpheus's face turned pale, and he wanted to dodge, but it was too late...
"Stop!" At this moment, a loud shout came from a distance. "Stop!"
With a roar, a figure flew over and blocked Morpheus. I secretly said what a pity, and had to retract my palm power.
"What's going on?"
The man who came was the castle guard. He stared at me warily and asked, "What do you want to do to the young master?"
"It's just a competition, there's no need to be nervous, guard brother." I spread my hands and said casually, but my eyes glanced at Morfeas intentionally or unintentionally. His face was a little pale, and it was obvious that he hadn't recovered from the shock just now, but his beautiful eyes were burning with a blazing fighting spirit.
The referee stepped forward and announced loudly: "The first round is over!"
There was a sudden roar of applause from the surroundings. No one had expected that this contest of such disparity in strength would end in this way. Although I was at a disadvantage, my speed and reaction impressed everyone.
"You're quite capable, little brat."
Guard Armor looked at me deeply, with a hint of admiration in his tone, but more of a warning, "But don't think you can win the heart of the young master this way.
I tell you, if you want to be a young master, you must have the power to surpass everything else!" x
I smiled faintly, said nothing, and walked down the arena silently. Morpheus's eyes followed my back, and it was difficult to make out what was going on.
I know that his heart must be full of doubts and surprise, and perhaps a little bit of...admiration?
During the short break, I was not idle. I quietly left the crowd and came to the back garden of the castle, where there lived an old wizard who was said to have the power to know everything...
I took a deep breath and tried to calm the surging blood in my body. Morpheus's elemental power was too overbearing. Even through the shield, I could still feel the suffocating pressure.
It seems that if I want to win this game, brute force alone is not enough. I must find a way to compete with it, or even... surpass it!
During the short break, I was not idle. I pretended to be nonchalant while walking among the crowd, but my eyes were always searching for that figure. Finally, in a secluded corner of the garden behind the castle, I found him - an old man with gray hair but vigorous spirit.
He was wearing a grey robe, holding a wooden staff carved with strange runes, and was resting with his eyes closed.
"Excuse me, old sir." I bowed respectfully.
The old man slowly opened his eyes, and a gleam of light flashed in his cloudy eyes: "Young man, what do you want from me?"
I got straight to the point and said, "I've heard that you are well versed in the way of elements. I am a humble person, so I would like to learn a thing or two from you."
The old man looked me up and down, with a playful smile on his face: "Oh? You are a newcomer, why are you here to see me instead of preparing for the next game?"
I knew that time was running out, so I stopped beating around the bush: "To be honest, I encountered some bottlenecks in the competition, and I would like to ask you how to better use the power of the elements."
The old man stroked his beard, pondered for a moment, and then slowly said: "The way of elements is broad and profound, and it takes time to learn. Since you are willing to learn, I will not hesitate to teach you."
He then began to explain to me some basic element manipulation techniques, from how to sense the existence of elements, to how to guide the flow of elements, to how to integrate the power of elements into the moves, in great detail. I listened attentively, trying to remember every word of the old man.
As time went by, I felt as if I had opened a new door, and a wonderful world full of infinite possibilities was slowly opening up to me. I couldn't wait to put these new knowledge into practice, to challenge stronger opponents, to explore deeper mysteries...
"Remember, the power of elements should be taken naturally and used naturally. Don't be greedy and make reckless advances, otherwise it will backfire on you." The old man's voice brought me back to reality.
I nodded solemnly: "Younger generation, please remember the old gentleman's teachings!"
I hurriedly said goodbye to the old man and returned to the arena. However, when I returned to the rest area, I found that Morpheus, who was supposed to be there, was nowhere to be seen...
