Chapter 88: Quick Guide to the God of Elements (Part 3)
Morpheus had a handsome smile on his face, but for some reason, I always felt that there was a hint of cunning in his smile.
"Hey, handsome guy, why are you here?"
I asked calmly. "Of course I came here to..."
Morpheus suddenly stopped talking, looked at me with a twinkling gaze, and whispered, "Young handsome man, if you want to know the secret of the elemental crystal, I can tell you, but you must agree to one condition..."
His words were like a stone, stirring up thousands of waves in the lake of my heart.
"What conditions?"
I asked in a low voice, looking around cautiously to make sure there was no one else around.
Morpheus came closer to me, and a faint fragrance filled my nose. His words were gentle and pleasant: "I want you to help me find the elemental crystal."
I was shocked. How did Morpheus know that I was looking for the elemental crystal?
Could it be that he has been secretly spying on me?
"Why should I trust you?"
I squinted my eyes and looked straight into his, trying to find the answer from his eyes.
Morpheus chuckled, as if he saw through my thoughts: "Because I know what you are looking for and what you want. Only I can help you, but you have to help me too. This is a deal between us. You just need to tell me whether you agree or not."
His tone left no doubt in my mind, which made me realize that this matter was of great importance.
I was silent for a moment, weighing the pros and cons. Although Morpheus looked harmless, I always felt that he was hiding some secrets.
Cooperating with him was undoubtedly like conspiring with a tiger to hide its skin, but the impulse in my heart to explore the truth made it difficult for me to resist.
"You won't let me give myself to you!"
"Haha, you're so funny. I just like your naughty look."
Finally, I took a deep breath and made up my mind: "Okay, I promise you."
Morpheus finally showed a satisfied smile on his face, and he handed me a piece of parchment with an address written on it: "Come here alone at midnight three days later, and remember, don't tell anyone."
I took the note and read the scribbled words on it, feeling mixed emotions. I knew I had embarked on a road full of unknowns and dangers, but there was no turning back.
In the next few days, I pretended to be indifferent, but secretly began to investigate the mysterious organization. I followed Murphys and found that he often went to an inconspicuous tavern in the town.
After a few days of observation, I found that this bar was just a cover, and the real secret was hidden in the basement. I tried to sneak into the basement, but found that it was heavily guarded and could not be approached at all.
I realized that I couldn't fight this organization on my own. I needed allies and help.
I found Wesley and confessed my discovery to him. To my surprise, Wesley was not surprised, but showed an expression of expectedness.
"I knew it wasn't that simple."
Weasley said in a deep voice, "This organization has existed for hundreds of years and has been secretly controlling the Elemental Town and even the entire Elemental Realm. Their goal is to find the elemental crystal and control the entire magical world."
"We must stop them!"
I said firmly. Weasley nodded in agreement. We began to make plans to join forces to fight against this mysterious organization.
However, our every move seems to be under the surveillance of the other side.
Just as we were about to take action, I suddenly realized that I was being followed... My steps became faster and faster, and my heart beat faster and faster, but I did not look back, because I knew that now was not the time to confront them head-on.
I had to get rid of the tracking as soon as possible, and then... a dark shadow suddenly appeared from the side and blocked my way.
I stopped suddenly and, in the dim moonlight, saw the person in front of me clearly—it was the man in black who had a secret meeting with Morpheus in the tavern that day.
He was tall, his entire body wrapped in a black hood, with only a pair of cold eyes revealed, staring at me like a venomous snake.
"Who are you? Why are you following me?"
I asked calmly, secretly tightening the dagger hidden in my sleeve.
The man in black did not answer my question. He just sneered and said in a hoarse voice: "You know too many things you shouldn't know. Today is the day you die."
As soon as he finished speaking, several dark figures flashed out from the shadows behind him and surrounded me.
Each of them exudes powerful elemental fluctuations, and they are obviously well-trained magicians.
I thought to myself that this was not good. It seemed that my whereabouts had been exposed and the other party was well prepared.
"Do it!"
The man in black gave the order, and several elementalists launched attacks at the same time. Fireballs, ice cones, wind blades, all kinds of elemental attacks came at me like a violent storm.
I didn't dare to delay and quickly used my physical skills to dodge left and right in the narrow alley, narrowly avoiding their attacks.
However, the other side had more people and cooperated well. I gradually felt exhausted and started to get bruises on my body.
"We can't go on like this, we have to break out as soon as possible!"
I was extremely anxious and kept scanning the surrounding environment, looking for a way to escape.
Suddenly, I noticed a narrow passage at the end of the alley, which might be a way to escape.
I came up with a plan and deliberately made a false move to lure the man in black into chasing me. Then I took the opportunity to turn around and ran towards the passage with all my might.
"Want to escape? Not that easy!"
The man in black obviously saw through my intention and immediately gave chase with his men.
I ran all the way, but the footsteps behind me were getting closer and closer. Just when I was about to run to the entrance of the passage, my feet suddenly felt empty and I fell down uncontrollably...
"Oh no, it's a trap!"
I was startled, but it was too late to react.
I felt as if I was grabbed by an invisible giant hand and thrown into endless darkness. Severe pain came from my limbs and bones, and I clenched my teeth to prevent myself from making any sound.
The bottom of the trap was damp and cold, and the air was filled with a rotten smell. I struggled to stand up, but found that my left leg was in excruciating pain and I couldn't move.
"Damn, it looks like it's broken."
I cursed under my breath and reached for my waist. Fortunately, the bag of medicine was still there. After treating the wound briefly, I leaned against the cold wall and tried to calm my rapid breathing.
The pursuers may catch up with me at any time, so I must leave here as soon as possible. But where should I go?
I looked up at the dark trap, feeling lost. At this moment, a slight sound came from above my head. I immediately held my breath and tightened my grip on the dagger.
