A few side dishes and a plate of fried meat were given to the people in the cells on the other side.
Watching them wolfing down the food, Bei Yutang looked at the buns and a plate of side dishes in her hands, then looked at the female prisoner opposite who was staring at her eagerly.
She threw the buns in her hand to the people in the cell opposite. As soon as she threw it, they were immediately snatched away.
Daixiang and a few others went to the cell next door. Knowing that they were there to see Xiao Moer, the jailer here did not make things difficult for them. He gave Daixiang some silver and let her in.
Daixiang walked to the cell door carrying the food box. Xiao Moer heard the noise and slowly raised his head. When he saw the person coming, his eyes lit up.
"Sister Daixiang." Xiao Mo'er's soft voice sounded in the quiet cell.
Dai Xiang looked at little Mo'er locked up alone in a dark, damp cell, and felt distressed. Her eyes reddened slightly. "Master Mo'er."
The jailer felt sorry for the child and was also nice to the visitors, reminding them, "You can't stay too long. If you have anything to say, say it quickly."
"Thank you." Dai Xiang hurriedly thanked the jailer.
After the jailer left, Dai Xiang opened the food box and said with a choked voice, "You must be hungry. Look, I brought you some food, all your favorites. Tell me what you want to eat next time."
Little Moer nodded obediently, "How is mother?"
"Sister Mu is very good."
"Does mother have anything to tell you to pass on to me?" Xiao Moer asked.
Dai Xiang moved closer to the cell and glanced around out of the corner of her eye. Xiao Moer noticed her actions and pretended to eat, moving his body slightly forward.
"Sister Mu asked me to tell you to protect yourself and not worry about anything else. No matter what happens, protect yourself."
As she spoke, Daixiang quietly stuffed a package into Xiao Moer's hand.
Xiao Moer ate leisurely and put the food away with a calm expression.
"Young Master Mo'er, tell me about what happened in the academy. Also, who in the academy is worthy of our trust, and who is the most suspicious?" Dai Xiang asked in a low voice.
Xiao Moer gave her a look that asked her to wait a moment. He threw the buns and dishes in his hand to the cells next door and opposite. When they were scrambling for food, he started talking, but he was always paying attention to the people on both sides out of the corner of his eyes, looking for suspicious people.
Daixiang listened carefully to Xiao Moer's story and didn't notice Xiao Moer's actions at all.
He used food and Daixiang as bait, hoping to find any suspicious people in the surrounding cells.
A quarter of an hour later, Daixiang got up and left at the urging of the jailer.
After Dai Xiang left, Xiao Moer leaned against the wall, holding the roasted chicken leg in his hand, and ate slowly, while his eyes glanced at the prisoners around him without any expression.
"I can't eat anymore. Here's what you can eat." Xiao Moer said to a blind old man in the cell next door.
Just when I noticed that they were fighting over food, the old man stayed where he was and didn't go over to fight for it.
The old man stretched out his hand tremblingly and took the chicken leg from him. He had just taken a bite when someone else in the cell came forward and snatched the chicken leg away rudely. The old man wanted to step forward to take it back, but the person who came kicked the old man hard and sent him flying.
The old man fell to the ground in pain. No one else in the cell came forward to check on him. They just watched it all indifferently, as if they were already used to it.
