"I'm your aunt."
Bei Lingmo stared at her, "You, you are my aunt?"
Bei Yutang nodded.
Bei Lingmo was about to step forward, but was stopped by a slightly older child standing beside him. The child whispered in his ear, "Don't forget, your aunt is a bad person. She abandoned you and went off to enjoy herself."
Xiao Moer immediately retracted the hand he had extended and stared at Bei Yutang, but there was a hint of desire in his angry eyes.
Bei Yutang looked at the other half-grown child, "You are the little kid, right?"
Xiaotong is Xiaomoer's tutor and the housekeeper's grandson. He is three years older than Xiaomoer.
"Yes." The little boy looked at them warily.
Bei Yutang looked at the two of them and said softly, "Xiao Mo'er, Auntie didn't abandon you. Auntie has been recovering from her injuries outside for over a year. Do you see these scars on Auntie's face? They were left a year ago."
Lei Tian also saw the clues and helped her, saying, "Yes, that's right. I was the one who rescued your aunt. If I hadn't been there while hunting, you wouldn't be able to see your aunt now."
Xiaotong and Xiaomoer looked at them in surprise.
"No, I saw my aunt half a year ago. You lied to me, you are not my aunt at all." Xiao Moer didn't believe it.
In order to prove her identity, Bei Yutang whispered something in Xiao Moer's ear. Xiao Moer's eyes suddenly lit up, and she said to her friend in surprise, "Tongtong, she is my aunt. She is my aunt."
The child still looked at her doubtfully, "Then, then the person we saw before..."
Xiao Moer said hurriedly, "That person is not my aunt. Xiao Tong, I was right, wasn't I? I said that person doesn't look like my aunt."
At that time, he felt that the aunt was a little strange, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Xiao Moer broke away from Xiao Tong and walked over to Bei Yutang. Looking at her face full of hideous scars, she asked cautiously, "Auntie, how did your face become like this? Does it hurt?"
Bei Yutang rubbed the little guy's head. "It doesn't hurt anymore. Tell me, what happened during the fire that day?"
When talking about what happened that day, the two little guys' expressions changed obviously.
"That night, I woke up in a daze after being pushed awake by my grandfather. We saw clusters of flames floating in the yard. If anyone touched them, their whole body would be on fire."
Xiao Moer's hands unconsciously tugged at her sleeves. Bei Yutang held him in her arms and felt his body trembling slightly.
"Aunt, those fires eat people. They ate Daddy and Mommy."
The child continued, "Grandpa put us in a wooden bucket and threw it into the well, and that's when the fire stopped us. We stayed in the well for a whole day and night before Grandpa rescued us. He then took us to hide in a dilapidated temple in the suburbs. He said there were bad guys out there who wanted to kill us, so he told us not to go out."
"Where's your grandpa? Where is he now?"
"Grandpa passed away a month ago. He also left us behind." As they spoke, Xiaotong and Xiaomoer's eyes turned red and tears fell.
"Don't cry, don't cry, follow your aunt from now on." Bei Yutang held them in his arms and comforted them.
After the two little guys had cried enough, Bei Yutang continued to ask, "When did you come back to live here?"
"Three months ago..."
Afterwards, I asked them some questions one after another and roughly understood their situation.
