As soon as Dugu Cang stepped over the threshold of the Qinzheng Hall, Tingfeng came to meet him.
He looked anxious and said, "Your Majesty, things are not going well at the He Mansion."
"What?" Dugu Cang frowned suddenly and quickened his pace. "Did Miss Su get bullied by them? Come with me to He's house and we'll talk as we walk!"
"Okay." Tingfeng trotted to keep up with Dugu Cang's pace and continued:
"This morning, just after dawn, Madam Liu of the He Mansion brought a bowl of poison, intending to kill Miss Su. The secret guards subdued Liu and her gang, and then Miss Su poured the poison into Madam Liu's mouth. Now, Madam Liu is dead."
Dugu Cang paused and breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm glad she's okay."
Tingfeng almost bumped into Dugu Cang, but his expression did not ease at all, but became even more solemn.
"Your Highness, this is not the important matter. The important matter is that the eldest princess went to the He Mansion this morning."
Dugu Cang's heart trembled. "Didn't they say that all plans were put on hold and there was no need to lead the princess to the He Mansion? What's going on?"
Ting Feng said, "Our plan was stopped, but for some reason, the Princess learned about He Anping's marriage, and she directly ordered the escort team to change the route and go to He's mansion first."
"Bang" the jade ring on Dugu Cang's thumb was pinched into two pieces by him, fell on the white marble steps and shattered into pieces.
His eyes were deep and his face was filled with dark clouds. He suddenly had a bad premonition and his heart was beating wildly in his chest.
"Hurry up! Ride!"
No one in the palace dared to stop the Regent.
Dugu Cang and Tingfeng galloped on their horses, went out of the palace gate, and headed straight for the He Mansion on the south side of the imperial city.
The soldiers deployed to welcome the eldest princess back to the capital were still guarding the main street, and pedestrians were walking on both sides of the street. Therefore, Dugu Cang and the other man rushed to Yongping Road where the He Mansion was located in less than a quarter of an hour.
As soon as I reached the intersection, I ran into a secret guard.
This secret guard was assigned to Su Wanti by Dugu Cang.
"Your Highness! Lord Tingfeng!" The secret guard's eyes turned red with anxiety.
He pointed back and said, "Miss Su attempted suicide. She held a dagger to her neck. I didn't dare approach her, nor did I dare to act rashly, for fear of pushing her too far... I was just about to report this to the prince, but luckily the prince and Lord Tingfeng arrived."
Dugu Cang looked in the direction the secret guard's hand was pointing, and his heart almost stopped beating in fright.
Su Wanti was seen wearing a white dress, standing on the roof of a three-story building beside the wall of the He Mansion.
She held the dagger tightly against her neck, standing against the wind, looking sad and resolute.
Outside the wall, on the street, there was a noisy crowd, chaos and confusion.
"Wanmei!" He shouted heartbreakingly, but Su Wanti seemed not to hear him. She stared blankly at the chaotic crowd downstairs without even looking in his direction.
"Wanmei!" Dugu Cang stepped hard on the stirrup and jumped directly onto the top of the wall.
Just as he was using his Qinggong skills to run towards Su Wanti.
Countless sparks suddenly burst out from Su Wanti's cuffs, igniting her white clothes. It was as if her clothes were sprayed with kerosene. In an instant, the flames spread from her cuffs all over her body. In the blink of an eye, Su Wanti was engulfed in a huge and blazing fire.
In the last moments of her life, she did not leave a single word and did not even cry out.
A huge fireball rolled and fell downstairs, and the entire wooden building was set on fire. The burning flames were several meters high, the flames shot up into the sky, and thick smoke billowed. It was extremely tragic.
“Ah ...
The terrifying flames, scorching heat, and pungent smoke scared the people so much that they ran away in panic.
"It's terrible! The He Mansion is on fire!"
"The He family's young mistress set herself on fire!"
"Go call the fire soldiers! The grass and trees are dry in autumn, and the fire will spread quickly!"
The soldiers guarding the gate of He's mansion broke open the door and rushed in to rescue the eldest princess.
The soldiers standing on the street to maintain order sent people to find firefighters who were responsible for putting out fires and evacuate the crowd.
It is now late autumn. In the He Mansion courtyard, some dry weeds and trimmed branches are piled under the corner of the wall. In addition, the surrounding houses are all wooden structures. The fire quickly spread from the small building on the south side to the other three sides.
At this moment, the streets were in chaos.
The crowd rushed out like flowing water.
There were constant shouts inside the He Mansion. Some people climbed over the wall and some broke open the back door and ran out.
Some people even stole things from the mansion, crawled out through the dog hole and ran away.
Dugu Cang's eyes were filled with sorrow as he walked against the flow of people towards the place where Su Wanti fell.
"Your Highness, it's too dangerous, you can't go!" Tingfeng and the secret guards hurriedly pulled Dugu Cang.
After Miss Su set herself on fire, she fell onto the haystack below the small building and ignited the haystack.
When the autumn wind blew, the fire in the haystack and the fire in the small building merged into one and burned into a ball.
Now that place is burning with a raging fire. The temperature is too high and the smoke is too choking. It is like a volcanic hell, crackling and swallowing everything. It is impossible to get close to it.
Dugu Cang collapsed after seeing Su Wanti die in front of him and being unable to stop it.
He looked at the raging flames, his eyes bloodshot, veins bulging on his forehead, and his eyes were red, as if blood was about to burst out.
"Puff!" He leaned forward and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Bright red, warm blood splattered on the ground. Heat from the ground heated it and it turned into a bloody black mist with a hissing sound.
"Wanmei! Where are you? I'm here to save you!" Dugu Cang's eyes were filled with madness, with blood still hanging from the corners of his mouth. He rushed towards the center of the fire regardless of everything.
Tingfeng was coughing from the choking smoke. Seeing Dugu Cang rushing in, he became furious, "Your Highness! You can't go! People will die!"
