Chapter 276 The Regent and His Amnesiac Childhood Sweetheart 31

I have made up for yesterday's episode. If you haven't read it yet, you can go and read the last chapter again.

"Tell me quickly, what's going on?"

This town is too peaceful, with few new things happening. Anything that Chun Xing considers strange must be interesting.

Chun Xing has grown into a graceful lady. Like Su Wanti, she has her long black hair tied into a simple bun at the back of her head, secured only with a wooden hairpin, without any hairpins or rings.

Her face was also plain, without any makeup, and she was wearing a green dress.

If an outsider saw them, they would think they were sisters rather than master and servant.

Chun Xing smiled and said, "I just went to buy groceries and found that our neighbor in the front yard has moved."

Su Wanti frowned slightly. "Auntie Wang's family moved? Where did they move to? Why didn't she tell me?"

"But this isn't strange at all."

Chun Xing added, "If it was just Aunt Wang moving, that would be fine. After I bought some groceries and came home, I put them in the kitchen, and then I saw from the back window that Aunt Li's family in the backyard had also moved!"

Su Wanti couldn't help but straighten up, and the rocking chair stopped shaking.

"This is strange. How come our neighbors in the front and back yards suddenly moved away, and on the same day? Chun Xing, have you asked around?"

Chun Xing said, "I asked around. Aunt Wang said her son bought a big house where he was working and wanted to take her in. Someone came to pick her up, so she quickly sold the house and prepared to leave."

"This is too sudden." Su Wanti murmured.

"And then there's Madam Li. Madam Li said she was done with her business and wanted to return to the countryside to retire. Just then, a wealthy business owner from out of town offered a suitable price, so she sold her house. She said the boss needed it urgently, so she moved out right away."

Upon hearing this, Su Wanti frowned, feeling something was wrong.

This is a most unremarkable town. Most of the residents make a living by fishing and pearl farming. There is no highly profitable industry in the town. How could it attract big bosses to come here?

"Chun Xing, stay home. I will deliver this month's embroidery to Feixia Pavilion."

Su Wanti wants to go outside to find out some information.

"By the way, where are mother and Miaomiao?" Su Wanti asked.

Chun Xing said, "Su Yun is playing with Madam and Xiao Miao Miao in the front yard."

Su Wanti glanced at the sky. The sun had already set in the western horizon, like a big orange-yellow fireball, jumping in the sky, and bright red clouds covered half of the sky.

"It's getting dark. Tell them to stop playing and go back to the house to rest for a while, then get ready to cook dinner. After I leave, close the front and back doors tightly. I'll be back soon. If anyone knocks on the door, don't answer it or open it."

Su Wanti gave detailed instructions.

Chun Xing smiled nonchalantly, "Miss, you're too nervous. Every time there's a little movement around you, you get so nervous you won't let me out or make a sound. Do you want us to pack our bags tonight and move out tomorrow before dark?"

After leaving the capital, Su Wanti and her group moved to several places. If she felt something was wrong, she would tell Chun Xing and the others to stay at home, pack up their gold, silver, and personal belongings, and move after she found a new place to live.

I've been going back and forth no less than ten times.

Chun Xing smiled and said, "Miss, don't worry. We have moved more than ten times, from a small town in the southwest to this small town in the south. No one can find us."

Su Wanti recalled what happened before and laughed, "Maybe I'm just being overly suspicious again this time. Forget it, you can go prepare dinner. I'll go to Feixia Pavilion and find out what business the boss here is in and whether he's easy to get along with."

She originally chose this yard because the neighbors here are all legitimate businesses, kind-hearted and easy to get along with.

After spending a long time with neighbors, you will become familiar with each other and can take care of each other from time to time.

If a difficult neighbor suddenly appeared, she would still have to think about finding a new place to live.

Su Wanti put several embroidered handkerchiefs into a basket and went out.

The people in this small town are simple and honest, so Su Wanti didn't wear a veil either.

The sun is strong and the sea breeze is hard at the seaside. After living here for nearly two years, Su Wanti's skin is no longer as white as before.

Now, her skin is a little darker than when she was in the capital, but this makes her look healthier. She has a vibrant glow, unlike before, when she looked so weak that she could be blown down by a gust of wind.

Su Wanti had enough money, but when she had nothing to do, she would find some work for herself.

Young ladies from official families not only had to learn music, chess, calligraphy and painting from a young age, but also had to learn needlework.

Officials and merchants would prepare various silk threads and satin materials for their daughters to practice embroidery.

Therefore, the embroidery works of the women of officials and merchants are so exquisite and sophisticated that they cannot be compared with ordinary embroidery works.

Su Wanti has good craftsmanship. When she was a boudoir, her needlework was the best among the women in the mansion.

So, she took the silk handkerchief she embroidered to Feixia Pavilion, the best embroidery shop in the town, and showed it to the owner, who favored her.

The owner of Feixia Pavilion ordered silk handkerchiefs from her. Su Wanti would send her a few handkerchiefs every month after she embroidered them. She wanted them all, and the price was a little higher than the market price.

Therefore, Su Wanti would send a few exquisite silk handkerchiefs embroidered by herself to the owner of Feixia Pavilion every month, and take the opportunity to ask the owner about what was happening in the town and what was happening outside.

Feixia Pavilion is in the center of the town, and Su Wanti arrived there in less than a quarter of an hour.

After handing the silk handkerchief to the boss and receiving the reward, Su Wanti pretended to ask the boss of Feixia Pavilion about the latest news in the town.
