Chu Shaoyao was originally furious, but she said "grilled fish" and he was amused. He reached out and pinched her soft cheek, "You said I'm a fish?"
"Why bother with that?" Wen Liyu's cheek was pulled, and her voice became unclear. "Just know what I mean."
Chu Shaoyao didn't think too much about it. He pinched it once and then withdrew his hand. His fingers hung beside his legs, and he bent them and rubbed his fingertips.
He felt that the soft and elastic touch of his cheek flesh was still on his fingertips, which was a bit strange.
"I'm so hungry, is there anything to eat?" Wen Liyu quickly put her unhappiness behind her, walked to the table, and looked at him eagerly.
Although she was hungry, she was well-mannered and did not rashly lift the lid of the lunch box.
Chu Shaoyao opened the lid of the box and found only a bowl of porridge and a plate of side dishes inside.
Uncle Wang didn't come to bring him food every day. There was someone else who brought him food, but since he didn't have the emperor's favor, he was given some leftovers every day as a perfunctory measure.
He needs to keep a low profile and not attract too much attention. It is better for him to be alone.
Chu Shaoyao had always thought that such days were nothing special before today, but when she stared at him with those expectant, watery eyes, a trace of irritation and deep-seated inferiority suddenly welled up in his heart.
"I…"
"It's porridge." Wen Liyu didn't think there was anything wrong with it. She glanced at the amount, turned around and said with a smile, "Since you're sick, you should eat something light."
Chu Shaoyao lowered his eyes slightly, "...Yeah."
"I'm going to turn back into a carp. Just feed me a few grains of rice later." Wen Liyu retracted her gaze, turned around and walked to the bucket, placing her fingers on the edge of the bucket.
Her fingers, as white as green onions, were stained with water, and in the dim light of the candle, they shone faintly. Her smiling face was more beautiful than the peony king that Chu Shaoyao had seen.
"By the way, my name is Wen Liyu. Don't call me 'carp carp' all the time next time!"
Before Chu Shaoyao could figure out which 'li' and which 'yu' it was, she transformed back into a small carp and returned to the water.
Wen Liyu looked up from the bucket and gave him a strange look, "Why aren't you eating yet? Why are you staring at me?"
"I don't understand." Chu Shaoyao saw her spitting out many bubbles and guessed that she was talking to him.
His expression remained unchanged on the surface, but he was a little upset in his heart. He reached out and knocked on the little carp's head.
Although he called it a knock, the force was actually not much different from stroking. He did not forget that this delicate fish had a bump on its forehead.
Wen Liyu casually ate a few grains of rice and felt full. When he threw another grain of rice, her head floated to the surface and looked at him, shaking her head and tail, "I can't eat anymore!"
"Are you full?" Chu Shaoyao paused and asked in surprise.
Only when the little carp nodded at him did he truly believe that this fish had such a small appetite.
Such a big and beautiful elf was full after eating just a few grains of rice. Even kittens ate more than her.
Or is it that spirits don't need to eat, so they won't feel hungry while practicing? Then does she need to bask in the moonlight, so that she can absorb the essence of the sun and the moon?
Questions kept popping up in Chu Shaoyao's mind one after another, and he almost got dizzy.
He already had a fever and his head was dizzy, and now that he was thinking about so many things, he felt even worse.
Wen Liyu didn't know what he was thinking. After she had eaten her fill, she placed the fish head next to the bucket and watched him eat.
Chu Shaoyao ignored her torch-like gaze and forced himself to finish a bowl of porridge. He packed up the lunch box and put it in the usual place. He then wiped his body casually outside before entering the house.
I should have wiped my body inside the house, but now there is a carp spirit in the house and there is no screen to block my view.
He felt uncomfortable at the thought of the little fish staring at him with a greedy look.
After Chu Shaoyao packed up all his things and returned to the house, he found that the little carp's head had slipped into the water.
His heart tightened, and he walked over quickly with his long legs, and found that she was fine, just asleep.
"You really cause me a lot of worry." Chu Shaoyao said softly. Seeing that her fins were bent while she was sleeping, he reached out to help her adjust her posture.
After watching for a while, he turned back to the bed, covered himself with the quilt that the carp spirit had conjured for him, and fell into a deep sleep.
-
Wen Liyu was originally dreaming about completing her mission and successfully transforming into a dragon, when suddenly her dream changed and she appeared in a magnificent palace.
All she saw was a wall of gold and jade. She felt it was strange and looked around. She raised her wrist, opened the golden curtain in front of her and walked out.
When she came out, the dream seemed to come alive. A group of eunuchs and palace maids whose faces could not be seen were running towards her in panic, as if there was a monster chasing them.
Wen Liyu's curiosity was aroused, and she carefully avoided the crowd and walked towards the source.
After walking a few steps, the scene changed and several gilded columns suddenly appeared in front of him, carved with angry five-clawed golden dragons.
The golden dragon has a slender figure, coiled around the pillar, and is carved so vividly that it seems as if it will come alive in the next second and pounce towards Wen Liyu.
Her cheeks flushed with excitement. Anyone would be excited to see their dream appear before them.
"I wonder if my transformation into a dragon will be as majestic and powerful as this one!"
Wen Liyu walked around the pillar admiring it for a long time, and suddenly she felt she had stepped into a puddle. She looked down and saw that she was stepping on a winding stream of blood.
The dark red liquid slowly flowed along the white jade floor, fell from the steps, and accumulated more and more on the ground.
Wen Liyu frowned to avoid the blood and walked up the stairs step by step. There was a screen in front of her, blocking the scene opposite.
She quietly peeked in and saw a large hall filled with countless body parts and corpses.
The majestic golden decorations were splattered with blood, and the ground and walls were covered with scarlet marks.
"We are all children of the emperor, so why was I the only one abandoned in the cold palace since childhood?" A familiar voice sounded in the palace.
Wen Liyu raised her eyes and looked upwards, only to see Chu Shaoyao, dressed in black and wearing long boots, standing on the dragon throne, which symbolized supreme power.
A middle-aged man was slumped under the dragon throne, with a sharp weapon on his neck, the blade was sharp and shining silver.
"Why can't you see clearly?! Why are you so arrogant?!" Chu Shaoyao gritted his teeth and squeezed out the question from his throat with difficulty.
The originally clear eyes turned dark and scarlet, like gems formed by suppressing endless hatred and anger.
He thrust his arm forward easily, and the middle-aged man in the dragon robe stared in disbelief and slowly fell to the ground.
Wen Liyu's breath stopped as she watched, and she was a little frightened by these scenes.
Killing people is so easy for him! How much easier is killing fish!!
