The original owner hadn't replied to her messages before, not because she was angry or anything, but mainly because she was afraid to look at them. Even though she had made such a bold move to run away, she was still somewhat afraid of her home.

Wan Ge still pressed the answer button and softly called out, "Mom."

But they had all lived like that, their lives controlled by their ancestors. She felt sorry for her daughter and knew that her desire to escape wasn't wrong. But that was their life, wasn't it?
Wan Ge didn't talk to her much, just told her to get some rest, and then hung up the phone.
