Of course, most of the time they were looking for Zishu Yan, watching him grow from a tiny baby to someone who could walk and talk.
He didn't know if it was because Wan Ge was always by his side, but he spent less time with Zi Shu Hua, so Zi Shu Yan was fine when he was separated from Zi Shu Hua.
…
Wan Ge looked at the little prince, who was just over a year old and still walking unsteadily, and whose speech was not very clear, because he had only just begun to speak.
Wan Ge stood not far away and reached out her hand to him. Zi Shu Yan slowly walked towards her and finally threw himself into her arms.
Wan Ge tried to pick the other up, but the palace maid seemed to see through her intention and quickly came to her side, then gently comforted her: "Your Highness is still too young to pick up the little prince. When we grow up a little, we can pick up the little prince."
Wan Ge knew they were afraid she would hurt Zi Shuyan, so they didn't try to pick him up again. They just held him gently, and when they wanted to leave, they would grab his hand.
“Ge…Ge…” Zishu Yan wanted to call her name.
Wan Ge knew this, but she would still jokingly say, "It's an older sister, not an older brother."
Zishu Yan shook his head again, indicating that he didn't mean it that way.
"Wan...wan..." Zishu Yan wanted to call her name again.
Looking at the little baby in front of her, Wan Ge thought, "He's so cute! He's even cute when he tries to call my name."
"Wange!" Wange slowly said her name to the little baby in front of her.
Zishu Yan called her name for a while before finally getting the whole name out.
Wan Ge hugged him again: "Yan Yan is so great."
Meanwhile, Zishuhua, sitting on the ground, looked at them with a bewildered expression.
Zishuhua walks even worse than Zishuyan, and has yet to utter a single word.
They weren't in a hurry, since most children don't speak until around this time. They also figured that perhaps because Wan Ge and Zi Shuyan had been talking the whole time, Zi Shuyan spoke earlier.
Speaking of which, twins must look very alike, but Wange has never mistaken them for each other.
Wan Ge doesn't only play with Zi Shu Yan; she plays with the little girl too. However, she knows she needs to spend more time with Zi Shu Yan. Therefore, she spends most of her time with him.
…
When Zishu Yan was a little over one year old, everything was normal, so Wange thought he might not have separation anxiety.
When he was two years old, on another normal evening, Wan Ge was being prepared by the palace maids to go back to sleep, but Zi Shu Yan quickened his pace, grabbed Wan Ge and refused to let go, as if to say that he could not take her away.
The palace maid thought that Zishu Yan still wanted to play with Wan Ge, so she leaned down and whispered, "Your Highness, it's getting late. The princess needs to go to bed. How about we play again tomorrow morning?"
Zishu Yan didn't say anything, and continued to hold Wan Ge tightly.
Wan Ge looked up and said to the palace maid, "Then I'll sleep with Yan Yan."
The palace maid was taken aback. Her first thought was that there was a difference between men and women, but they were just children, so it shouldn't matter.
So the palace maid looked at the Empress again, seemingly waiting for her to speak.
Wan Ge had always stayed by her son's side, so it was normal for Zi Shu Yan to like her; after all, they were just children, so it didn't matter. Therefore, the Empress agreed to let them be together.
Zishu Yan knew they wouldn't take Wan Ge away, but he still held her hand tightly.
