Jiang Jin: Modern Era Part 2

The next morning, Jiang Jin went to work at the company at his usual time.

Little did she know that at that very moment, in the same city as him, and right nearby, a woman dressed in antique clothing appeared on the street.

Wan Ge had no idea where she was. Everything was unfamiliar to her. The people here dressed strangely, the buildings were strange, and the language they spoke was somewhat different from hers, but she could still recognize them, and the differences weren't too great.

Wan Ge was genuinely terrified and panicked. When she first saw this bizarre and fantastical world, she thought she had arrived in the underworld.

But she didn't notice the step while walking and tripped. The pain in her palm made her realize that she hadn't fallen into the underworld, because how could a ghost feel pain? Besides, she still had feet, which were warm.

She looked at her hands and feet; they were in a very youthful state, no longer in an old age. It was as if she had returned to her youth, but found herself in a strange world.

Wan Ge didn't know what she was supposed to do or where she could go. She understood nothing and had nothing. She just wandered aimlessly with many people. After they got separated, she left alone.

As Wan Ge walked to a crossroads, she had just taken a step when an older woman grabbed her hand.

"Little girl, the light turned red! Didn't you see it?"

Wan Ge looked in the direction the old lady pointed and indeed saw a red, lamp-like object.

Then she noticed that none of the people around her had left; they seemed to be standing there waiting.

"I'm sorry," Wan Ge apologized, her head bowed.

The older woman thought from her accent that she didn't seem to be a local, and seeing her hurried apology and the cars speeding by at that moment.

"Don't be afraid, I didn't mean to scold you. I just saw that you were about to cross the road and wanted to remind you to pay attention to the red light."

Wan Ge seemed to understand as well, and of course, she also understood that pedestrians couldn't cross the red light because there were those fast-moving things—she didn't know what they were, but they looked like driving vehicles—moving across it. The speed and the material they were made of looked very dangerous; if someone were hit, the consequences would be unimaginable.

“I know, thank you, Auntie,” Wan Ge said again.

"No need to thank me, no need to thank me. The little girl is very pretty. Her clothes are also very nice. My granddaughter loves wearing traditional Chinese clothes. She says they are our traditional culture and should not be abandoned. I don't really understand them, but they do look good. I'm glad she likes them."

Wan Ge couldn't understand what they were saying, so she could only obediently nod. When the light turned green, the old lady reminded her that she could go. Wan Ge understood that she couldn't go when the red light was on, and she could go when the green light was on.

But she still felt that the road was too dangerous, so she tried to avoid it as much as possible.

Wan Ge observed the streets all day. She hadn't eaten anything and felt very hungry, but she didn't have the small, square thing that the others were holding.

She didn't know what that thing was; she only knew that they seemed to just scan it with that device after paying money.

To make matters worse, as Wan Ge was walking late at night, it suddenly started raining heavily. With no other option, she had to find shelter from the rain and ended up standing under a very, very tall building.
