The Tyrant's Beloved 29

"Didn't you just say that you were going to tell His Majesty everything Consort Ling said?"

Wan Ge chuckled and then replied, "Why would I tell His Majesty? To upset him? Someone like Consort Ling has no real power and no ability to threaten me. Besides, she's just a pawn with no choice in the matter. Why would I make things difficult for her?"

Lingyu was somewhat confused: "So Your Highness just let her go like that?"

Wan Ge's tone carried a hint of helplessness: "She was nothing more than a pawn sent to the palace. And if I really told His Majesty, she might not even have a chance to live."

Forget it, she wouldn't do anything to hurt me. A few provocative words aren't enough to kill her for now.

"I only said that to tease her."

Although she didn't really want to hold a grudge against her, the other woman had after all hurt her. She wasn't someone to be trifled with, and while she wouldn't actually let Xie Wenjun punish her, she could still scare her a little.

After hearing this, Lingyu felt somewhat complicated. She seemed to recall when she made a mistake, and the Empress did not tell His Majesty on her own initiative. It was all done by the people His Majesty had arranged around the Empress.

The Empress had never harbored any ill will towards her from the beginning; it was her narrow-mindedness that led her to almost blame the Empress.

Wan Ge was unaware that Ling Yu had already brainwashed herself. After startling Ling Meiren, she went straight to her palace.

Lingyu seemed a little uneasy and asked Wange, "Your Highness, should I inquire about the matter of the neighboring country's princess?"

Wan Ge shook her head: "No need. If this studio wants to know, I will find out myself."

"Yes." Lingyu didn't say anything more, and then left.

Ling Meiren waited anxiously for a long time, but she never received any news that frightened her. This made her even more uneasy; she worried that the current calm was just the calm before the storm. She didn't know how she would die.

Just then, her palace maid rushed in.

Consort Ling couldn't sit still any longer and anxiously asked the returning palace maid, "What's going on? Tell me quickly!"

The palace maid knelt on the ground and replied, "Your Majesty, I have inquired, and neither Her Majesty the Empress nor anyone from the Empress's palace has come to see His Majesty today."

Is this really true?

"It really is the Empress."

After hearing the answer, Ling collapsed to the ground, feeling utterly exhausted, but she still dared not let her guard down.

The other party hasn't said anything yet, perhaps just waiting for a better opportunity, such as when His Majesty visits her palace.

So she is still in danger.

Ling Meiren paced back and forth, thinking about what Wan Ge had said, and finally stood up abruptly: "Someone, accompany me to the Empress's place and bring the set of headdress that my grandmother gave me."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

As soon as Wan Ge woke up, Xiao Qin told her that Ling Meiren had been waiting for her ever since she arrived.

Upon hearing this, Wan Ge had someone freshen up and then went to see Ling Meiren.

Ling Meiren looked up at Wan Ge, who was walking slowly towards her. Every smile and frown of hers was captivating.

Everyone says His Majesty likes her because of childhood friendship, but someone as beautiful as her, wouldn't he have fallen for her even if they hadn't crossed paths when they were young?
