The villain isn't the white moonlight (12, 13, 14, 15)

"No!" Ci Xingxuan had never thought that way. He didn't mean he didn't want to accept His Majesty's kindness; he just felt that such fine material was more suitable for making clothes for His Majesty.

Wan Ge touched the fabric in front of her and thought, "The colors of the several batches of fabric that were sent over are quite similar. Make one for me, and Ah Xuan can make one for himself too. It would be nice if we could wear them together to the event."

“Your Majesty…” Ci Xingxuan hesitated, seemingly feeling that such a suggestion was not a good idea.

Wan Ge glanced at him briefly, and then he took back everything he had said.

"Okay." Ci Xingxuan finally compromised, replying with only this one word.

After Wan Ge sent those rare medicinal herbs to the Imperial Medical Academy, the Academy did indeed begin to study them.

Wan Ge spends most of her time handling government affairs, and when she's not busy with government affairs, she visits Ci Xingxuan.

Ci Xingxuan usually plays the zither, but lately he's been making clothes.

Seeing the snow falling again outside the window, Ci Xingxuan was somewhat absent-minded and didn't notice that the needle had pricked her fingertip: "Hiss."

Ci Xingxuan subconsciously looked down and saw blood oozing from his fingertips.

"Your Highness, the Phoenix Lord!" Attendant Jiang, who was standing to the side, looked worried upon seeing this scene.

"Your Majesty, she..." The sky was getting dark, but Wan Ge hadn't appeared all day. Before, she would either come after the morning court session or have dinner with him.

He postponed dinner today, but the other party still didn't show up.

The attendant whispered, "I heard that the prince is going to have an audience with the emperor, so His Majesty may not be available for the next few days."

"A vassal king?" Ci Xingxuan felt inexplicably uneasy.

"Yes, I heard it's Prince Yan." Prince Yan is Her Majesty's younger sister. It is said that the Crown Princess almost fell to Prince Yan back then, but after much consideration, Her Majesty the late Empress decided to follow the order of seniority and chose her eldest daughter as the Crown Princess.

After His Majesty ascended the throne, because she was his younger sister, he gave the most prosperous fiefdom to Prince Yan.

"What happened?" The vassal kings are not allowed to return to the capital without being summoned. Now that His Majesty has summoned them back, something must have happened.

"This...this servant does not know." How could some of the women in the harem possibly know about matters of the court? They only learned a little because they were preparing to welcome the prince back to the capital.

"I understand." Ci Xingxuan did not ask any further questions.

The attendant then asked softly, "Would Your Highness like to have dinner now?"

Because His Highness has been waiting for His Majesty to arrive, he has not yet had dinner.

"Let someone bring the meal," Ci Xingxuan said, though he wasn't really in the mood to eat.

Ci Xingxuan ate only a few bites before putting down his chopsticks.

Suddenly, a pair of hands wrapped around his waist: "Why is my Ah Xuan eating so little?"

"Your Majesty? Why are you here?" Ci Xingxuan was somewhat surprised, because according to the servants, he thought that the other party would not be coming for a while.

Wan Ge gently nuzzled his cheek, a hint of weariness in her eyes: "I missed you. I'll be quite busy these next few days, so I might not have time to spend with Ah Xuan. Ah Xuan, make sure you eat well, okay?"

Ci Xingxuan nodded obediently.

Wan Ge picked up a spoon, scooped up a spoonful of soup, blew on it to cool it, and put it to his lips.

Ci Xingxuan was slightly taken aback, but finally opened his mouth.

“Your Majesty, this is not appropriate…” Seeing that Wan Ge wanted to continue feeding him, Ci Xingxuan gave him a proper reminder.

"What's unsuitable? You are my Phoenix Lord, and whatever I do is suitable for you." It's just feeding you; there's so much more to do.

"Huh?" Ci Xingxuan's beautiful eyes were filled with a hint of confusion.

Wan Ge's gaze fell on his lips. She didn't know if it was because of the recent medication or because he was no longer sick, but his lips, which were originally pale, now had a bit more red even without lip rouge.

Wan Ge seemed to remember something and took out a box of lip rouge from her sleeve: "Tianxianglou's latest lip rouge is said to be very popular, so I had someone bring a box back. The other day in the plum garden, I saw Ah Xuan wearing the lip rouge, and he looked really good."

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Ci Xingxuan replied gently, his heart filled with joy.

It wasn't because of the small box of lip balm, but because the other person remembered that they would bring him these little gifts.

Married for three years, Ci Xingxuan only recently began to have feelings for her.

"How about I give it a try for Ah Xuan?" Wan Ge curled her lips, a hint of cunning flashing in her eyes.

“Okay.” Ci Xingxuan originally thought that when she said she would help him try, she meant she wanted to apply it for him herself.

Unexpectedly, Wan Ge applied lip rouge to her own lips, and even more unexpectedly, the next second Wan Ge cupped his cheeks and kissed his lips.

Ci Xingxuan felt his mind go blank with a buzz, and all he could hear was the sound of his own heart racing.

After a while, Wan Ge finally released the person in front of her. When she saw the bright red lipstick stuck to his lips, the smile in her eyes became even more obvious: "He really looks good."

Ci Xingxuan's face turned completely red, and even his ears were red. He stared at Wan Ge in front of him for a long time, not knowing how to speak.

Looking at him like this, Wan Ge reached out and flicked his nose: "Has my Ah Xuan gone mad? How can you be so cute?"

Seeing how shy and confused he looked after being kissed was so cute.

Ci Xingxuan finally realized what was happening and gently lowered her head.

After having dinner with him, Wan Ge stayed in his room and chatted with him for a while. Feeling that it was getting late, she carried him to the bed and lay down next to him, saying, "Go to sleep. I'll stay here and watch over you."
