Wan Ge took a sip of tea, then looked at the palace maid beside her: "The peach blossom pastry you brought yesterday was so delicious, I want to eat it again today."
"Yes, Your Highness, I will go get it for you right away." The palace maid bowed and hurried to the imperial kitchen.
While Wan Ge was cultivating on the mountain, she ate plenty of spiritual fruits and vegetables, but cultivators don't care about their appetites, so naturally no one made any snacks.
When Wan Ge first tasted peach blossom pastry, she was captivated by its crispy and sweet flavor.
"Is it really that delicious?" Qin Yizhou asked as he walked in from outside. Seeing her happy expression, he wondered if it really was that good.
Wan Ge nodded seriously. Of course it was delicious; otherwise, why would she want to eat it so much?
Qin Yizhou sat down beside her and then said, "I had someone take some of the tea you gave me to the imperial kitchen so the imperial chefs can make you some desserts. They should be especially delicious."
Such good tea leaves taste and smell wonderful; it would make for delicious and sweet desserts.
Can tea be used to make desserts?
Qin Yizhou nodded: "The pastries I make will have the fragrance of tea, and they will also be crispy and sweet. Would you like to try some?"
Just thinking about the imperial chef's skills and the tea she had brought from the mountain made Wan Ge look forward to it. So she quickly nodded.
"So you like these things." Qin Yizhou originally thought he wasn't interested in anything, but he didn't expect that he could find something that interested her. It turns out he's a little glutton. That makes things easier.
"Would you like to take a look at the imperial kitchen?"
"Is that alright?" The imperial kitchen should have lots of delicious food, right?
"Of course you can. There's nothing you can't go here if you want to."
“Okay, let’s go take a look now!” Wange took his hand and walked out of the main hall, but she felt a little lost as soon as she stepped out.
Looking innocently at the people around him, he asked, "Which way should we go?"
"This way." Qin Yizhou pointed to the left and pulled her along.
…
Before they even went inside, they spotted a suspicious-looking palace maid at the entrance of the imperial kitchen.
Wan Ge recognized the other person at a glance; it was the palace maid who had gone to fetch her pastries.
Before Wan Ge could step forward, Qin Yizhou held her hand, preventing her from doing so.
The next second they saw the palace maid take something out of her sleeve.
She opened the wrapper and then sprinkled the powder on it.
With a single glance from Qin Yizhou, a group of people appeared instantly and grabbed the palace maid.
The palace maid was initially unaware of what was happening, but when she saw Qin Yizhou and Wan Ge appear, she panicked: "Your Majesty, spare me! Your Majesty, spare me..."
If she hadn't been caught, the palace maid would probably have already knelt down and kowtowed desperately.
"How do you want to handle this?"
Wan Ge picked up a pastry from the side, sniffed it, and discovered it was poison: "Why did you poison me? Did someone order you to?"
"No...no one..." the palace maid quickly denied.
Wan Ge wasn't in a hurry. She took out a talisman and applied it to her body.
"Tell the truth, who ordered you to poison me?"
"She is the daughter of the Prime Minister's family, Miss Lu."
That foster sister? Why would she poison her? They had no grudge against each other. What did I do to upset her?
"This is outrageous!" Qin Yizhou's entire aura turned cold.
The palace maid was so frightened that she dared not speak. She quickly said, "Your Majesty, spare my life! It was the young lady of the Prime Minister's residence who threatened me with my family. I dared not disobey."
"Ha, I dare not disobey. To plot against the Empress is to be punished by execution of nine generations of her family. Guards, take her away and bring the Prime Minister's family into the palace."
"Yes." The guard immediately took the palace maid away.
Qin Yizhou glanced at the imperial kitchen again and asked the person beside him, "Shall we go in?"
“Okay.” Wan Ge took the hand he offered and went inside with him.
…
After Wan Ge finished eating the pastries, the guard came to report that the Prime Minister's family had arrived.
When Wan Ge followed Qin Yizhou to the entrance of the Imperial Study, she saw the entire Lu family kneeling on the ground.
Upon seeing Prime Minister Qin Yizhou, he hurriedly spoke up: "Your Majesty, Your Majesty! This old minister is innocent. This old minister only has Your Majesty in his heart and has never intended to rebel. I beg Your Majesty to investigate thoroughly."
"The evidence against the eldest daughter of the Prime Minister's family for plotting against the Empress is irrefutable. Does the Prime Minister still wish to refute it?"
"Impossible! There must be some misunderstanding. They are sisters. How could Yun Chan harm Wan Ge? You must clear my daughter's name!"
"Misunderstanding? The evidence is conclusive, and the witnesses have confessed. Is this still a misunderstanding? The Prime Minister's family plotted to murder the Empress. Considering the Prime Minister's dedication to the court, the death penalty is commuted to exile."
In fact, Qin Yizhou didn't kill them because he considered that they were still Wan Ge's blood relatives. Even though they had severed ties, the blood connection could never be broken.
Even though Wan Ge no longer cared, there was still a connection to them no matter what. He didn't want to put her in a position of disloyalty and injustice, so he chose to spare their lives.
Just then, a man suddenly rushed out; he was a cousin who was being fostered by the Lu family.
The other person was furious: "You really are a jinx! The master was right, you are the one who will kill Yun Chan. Before you came back, we were all fine. Was it you! Was it you on purpose?"
The other person was speaking to Wan Ge, but just after saying those words, the sound of a sword slicing through skin suddenly rang out.
A person who was just alive and well instantly became a victim of the blade.
