Young man, how about having a couple of bites? 5.6

Wan Ge would naturally take this opportunity to invite the other person to stay at her home for a meal, but Bai Yi didn't want the other person to know, so he declined her invitation.

The other party's rejection was entirely within Wan Ge's expectations, so she wasn't particularly disappointed. She also knew that these things couldn't be rushed, so she politely said goodbye to him. However, before he left, she gave him an exquisite box containing pastries she had made.

This type of pastry is made using a rather special method, and normally it can be stored for a while. However, it shouldn't be kept for too long; it's perfectly fine to eat it within the next few days.

Bai Yi felt uneasy. Besides the fact that he wouldn't eat it and wasting the other person's good intentions, the other person had saved him, invited him to their home, and now was giving him gifts. This was inappropriate.

Wan Ge said that she didn't have any friends here and had finally met someone her age, hoping that he wouldn't reject her.

Since Wan Ge had already said so, Bai Yi couldn't say anything more, so he accepted it.

Actually, he didn't dislike the taste of the pastry. The smell of the pastry was very similar to that of a flower in the yard, and also to the tea that Wan Ge brewed. Perhaps they all used the same ingredients.

He simply had no appetite. Even though the aroma of the food didn't make him feel nauseous, he still subconsciously resisted eating.

Wan Ge also clearly noticed that apart from taking a few sips of tea, he hadn't touched the fruit or pastries at all.

She knew this was a long road ahead, and she could only take it one step at a time.

After returning home, Bai Yi, remembering his fainting spell, took out a nutritional supplement from his temperature-controlled refrigerator and drank the entire small bottle.

He's been surviving on nutritional supplements all his life, but lately he hasn't even touched them much.

After washing up and changing his clothes, Bai Yi took out his phone and scrolled through it a few times, but he didn't show any significant emotional fluctuations. So he put his phone down, probably because he wasn't really interested in the content on it.

After night had completely fallen, Bai Yi fell asleep, but was suddenly awakened by a nightmare in the middle of the night.

Bai Yi touched his forehead and was surprised to find himself sweating. It was something that happened very, very long ago, yet it was still so clear in his mind.

Just then, I smelled a faint fragrance again.

Bai Yi's gaze fell on the table beside him. He had forgotten to put the pastries in the refrigerator and had also brought them to the room.

If I had just woken up from a nightmare, I definitely wouldn't want to eat anything.

This time, however, he actually felt a little hungry. Smelling the food he didn't dislike, Bai Yi hesitated for a moment, but finally got up and opened the exquisite box.

The box containing the pastries was very pretty, and the pastries inside were also exceptionally delicate.

It looked particularly appealing and tasted quite palatable. Bai Yi hesitated for a long time before finally picking up a piece of pastry. After taking a bite, he found it wasn't too bad.

Moreover, it's a little sweet, and the sweet taste is somewhat similar to the water I drank when I was in the hospital.

Perhaps it was his aversion to food that made him more sensitive to it.

But Bai Yi didn't think much of it. What did it matter if someone who hadn't eaten properly in so long recognized the same taste? He didn't care.

Moreover, he didn't feel that the other party was openly harming him; he simply thought they were just being sweet to each other.

The pastries aren't very big; they're rather small. If it's just one piece, a normal person could finish it in one or two bites.

Bai Yi took several bites to finish it, finding it not unpleasant but still somewhat repulsive. After finishing the entire pastry, Bai Yi was still a little dazed, his gaze falling once more on the exquisite box.

It wasn't that I still wanted to eat, but I was a little surprised—surprised that I actually had the urge to eat, and surprised that I actually ate something.

It seems like he's been acting strange ever since he drank that glass of water. He usually drinks water, but it's just plain water with no taste.

Needless to say, he hadn't eaten anything for a very long time. If it weren't for the nutritional supplements his parents had developed, he would have died long ago.

Another point is that Wan Ge's pastries are really beautiful. And perhaps the floral fragrance masks the original taste of the food, so they smell pleasant, making them easy to eat.

Actually, there was a period when he forced himself to eat because he saw how worried his parents were. So even when he was increasingly reluctant to eat, he still forced himself to eat.

This is probably why he felt nauseous whenever he saw food afterward.

Wan Ge pulled him out before he actually choked on the water, and since he was dizzy the whole way, he didn't have much of an impression of falling into the water. All his memories came from when they told him that he had fallen into the water.

So Bai Yi didn't have any nightmares about falling into the water that night, but...

Bai Yi dreamed of Wan Ge's courtyard, where a woman wearing a light blue gradient dress was tidying up the flowerbeds and cutting off many flowers. The woman turned around and looked at him with a smile.

She took his hand and asked him what kind of flower cake he wanted to eat and which flower he liked.

Most of the flowers planted in the yard are non-toxic and harmless, and many are edible, although most cannot be eaten directly.

Then she led him into the kitchen, and perhaps because she was in a dream, she quickly made the flower cakes.

Their actions were very intimate, like those of a couple. They walked together affectionately in the garden and helped each other in the kitchen.

After the flower cake was completely made, the girl held it to his lips again, but... he, who hated eating, didn't open his mouth, but rather seemed somewhat resistant.

So the beautiful girl in front of him had endless disappointment and sadness in her eyes. In the end, the distance between them grew further and further.

Bai Yi woke up abruptly from his dream, wiping the sweat from his forehead. They had only known each other for a short time, so how could he have dreamt that he and she were lovers?

only…

Bai Yi knew very well that he had feelings for her, from the moment he saw her at the hospital, he felt... as if he and she were meant to be together.

Therefore, he did not resist going home with her, and he trusted her unconditionally.

But the look of disappointment and loss in the girl's eyes in his dream made Bai Yi feel a little sad.

Bai Yi looked at the white light by the window and realized it was already morning. He immediately went to wash up and returned to his room, where his gaze finally fell on the exquisite box.
