Chapter 285 Repenting for her biological mother, she won't be a stepmother.

Inside the room, Sun Xiurong looked at the mess and pounded on Song Xia's door. Song Xia, unable to sleep, suddenly opened the door, causing Sun Xiurong to stumble.

Before Sun Xiurong could say anything, she started smashing things again, this time not sparing a single pot or pan: "Are you satisfied now?"

“You…” Sun Xiurong clutched her chest, as if she couldn’t breathe.

"If you die of anger, that's fine. Let's see who will care about Qin Jiawei after this." Song Xia stared at her with icy eyes. Sun Xiurong's heart skipped a beat. Had she really pushed Song Xia to the edge?

She dared not say anything harsher. While she hesitated, Song Xia went back to her room. Did she think that by not continuing her outburst, all the things she had said would be forgotten? Did she think she could continue to work tirelessly for him? There was no such easy way out.

"This is really terrible." Sun Xiurong gasped for breath several times, and only when she saw Qin Jiawei did her emotions calm down a bit.

"Jiawei, go back to your room and sleep first."

"I need money."

"How many?"

"one thousand."

"You brat, what do you need so much money for? How many days are left this week? Grandma will give you fifty tomorrow."

"No way." Qin Jiawei refused. "I promised to treat everyone to dinner. If you don't give me money, how can I save face at school? I want a thousand."

Sun Xiurong didn't want the money and waved her hand, saying, "Go pester your stepmother for it tomorrow."

Qin Jiawei was furious: "You won't give me money because you gave all of my father's money to my aunt, right?"

He punched Sun Xiurong, saying, "Give me money, give me money! That's all the money my father left me! You're not allowed to give it to anyone else."

Qin Jiawei was tall and strong, and he beat Sun Xiurong until she cried out in pain. Qin Jiawei, however, did not care about the pain and would not stop until he got the money.

Sun Xiurong couldn't take it anymore: "Here you go, Grandma's here, you brat! Your aunt is married now, how could Grandma give money to your aunt? Grandma's money is all saved for you."

Qin Jiawei wouldn't listen to any of this; he was only happy when he had the money in his hands.

Sun Xiurong said to him with a pained expression, "Just this once. You're not allowed to invite outsiders to dinner in the future. It's such a waste of money."

Song Xia listened to the commotion from inside the room. She thought to herself, "They don't know how much it hurts when they don't bleed themselves. If I had been a little slower before, they would have started blaming me."

Ha, this is just the beginning. Qin Jiawei has already been fed a huge appetite. It would be a miracle if he could control himself. Sun Xiurong is in for a lot of trouble in the future.

Tomorrow she will talk to a lawyer about how to get Qin Zhenwu's wages and compensation back from Sun Xiurong, otherwise it will be too late if Qin Yuping takes them or Qin Jiawei spends them all.

Although she could earn that money back quickly given time, she just didn't want to let these people get away with it. Why should she not get a return on her years of hard work?

There was a clanging and rattling sound outside the door for a while. Song Xia knew that Sun Xiurong was also venting her anger on her! She kept wailing about how her son was dead and how she was being bullied. Wasn't that just for show?

Hmph, I've already made things clear, do you still expect her to soften her heart? Putting on her headphones, Song Xia had a good nap.

The next morning, just as she was about to leave, she was startled by Sun Xiurong sitting eerily on the sofa.

Seeing that she ignored her, Sun Xiurong asked in frustration, "With the place in such a mess, why are you up so late? You didn't even make breakfast? And tell me, where did everything go in the refrigerator and cupboards?"

“I told you yesterday that from now on, your family can no longer expect me to serve you. As for the things in the refrigerator and cupboards, I bought them all. What business is it of yours how I deal with them? Even if I throw them away, I won’t let you eat them.”

"You spendthrift woman, you threw away all those good things?"

Seeing that Song Xia's face was still expressionless, Sun Xiurong simply sat on the ground and wailed, "Son, look at this! As soon as you left, your second wife turned the world upside down! She's trying to kill your mother and your son! She's heartless! How could such a vicious woman have entered my family?"

Song Xia crossed her arms and looked at her: "The woman you married later? It's as if Qin Zhenwu married someone before. Am I cruel? Am I cruel for serving you all for so many years? Since you slander me like this and are so ungrateful, I have no reason to contribute anything more to this family in the future."

Sun Xiurong choked upon hearing this. She only wanted to make Song Xia submit as before, and did not really intend to push her further away. A hint of panic flashed in her eyes.

"Where are you going? This house isn't cleaned yet!"

"Let whoever wants to deal with it do it. Since they're spreading rumors about me everywhere, I'll just make those rumors true."

“I…” Sun Xiurong sat on the ground and reached out her hand, wanting to say something soft to coax the person back, but after being so stubborn for so many years, she was a little too proud to admit it, so she could only watch Song Xia leave.

Song Xia slammed the door shut, her face instantly filled with worry, just as she ran into Aunt Zhou coming downstairs.

Zhou Fengmei glanced at the gate, pursed her lips, and pointed: "What's wrong with Sun Xiurong now?"

“Yesterday, I couldn’t reason with them and in a fit of anger, I smashed some things. When they saw that I hadn’t cleaned up before going to work, they wailed about my wickedness to their dead son.” Song Xia wiped her haggard face. “Aunt Zhou, I haven’t thanked you for speaking up for me yesterday, otherwise everyone would have really misunderstood me.”

"What's the big deal?" Zhou Fengmei felt she had done a good deed and straightened her back. "I just couldn't bear to see the truth misunderstood. It was just a few words."

“For you, it’s just a matter of a few words, but for me, it’s a huge deal. Otherwise, if things get out of hand and I’m misunderstood, I don’t know if I can handle it.”

Seeing that she was listless, Zhou Fengmei was afraid that she would do something foolish, so she quickly comforted her: "Girl, you can rest assured and fight for your legal rights with Sun Xiurong. Don't take the gossip of outsiders to heart. After all, no one can live your life for you. If I can help you explain, I will definitely step forward to help you clarify things."

"Thank you, thank you so much!" Song Xia held Aunt Zhou's hands tightly, her eyes glistening with tears again.

Once they left the old neighborhood, her expression immediately changed. She felt guilty, thinking that perhaps she hadn't lied too much, since what she had suffered before was real.

She didn't really care about what others were saying; she just wanted to use the public opinion surrounding Sun Xiurong to let them taste what it felt like to be criticized and disliked.

If they simply take the money through a lawsuit, it would be too easy for Sun Xiurong. She's probably still hoping for a change of heart, unaware that her suffering has only just begun.

Looking coldly at the incoming call from the company, Song Xia snorted again. This lousy company, she had been putting up with it for the sake of that meager salary, but now she no longer needed to put up with it. She could use this as an excuse to resign and then say that it was Sun Xiurong and Qin Yuping who caused the trouble.
