Chapter 290 Repenting for her biological mother, she decided not to become a stepmother.

Early the next morning, Song Xia left home under Sun Xiurong's vicious gaze. Oblivious to her surroundings, Song Xia even greeted the neighbors chatting downstairs, saying that she was going to look for a job.

As soon as she left, sure enough, everyone started talking about how Sun Xiurong didn't appreciate her good fortune and actually pressured such a good daughter-in-law like that. They said Sun Xiurong would regret it sooner or later.

Song Xia went to the company as usual, but today she found that she could no longer clock in, and her workstation had been taken.

She chuckled, thinking such methods were too low-level. So she filmed herself unable to clock in and other colleagues clocking in normally. When she entered the office, the scene inside was exactly what she had expected.

"I'm sorry, Sister Song, it was Supervisor Mei who said this would be my spot from now on."

The new employee, who had only been there a few days, smiled at Song Xia. Song Xia shrugged indifferently and then knocked on Mei Wei's office door.

Upon seeing that it was her, Mei Wei let out a smug laugh: "What are you doing here? But it's too late for you to regret it now."

"Of course I'm here to work, Manager Mei. I want to ask you why I can't clock in, and why my workstation is gone?"

Mei Wei leaned back in his chair: "Don't you know what's going on? Song Xia, our company doesn't need disobedient people."

"So the company is firing me? If they are firing me, they should settle my wages and pay my severance pay."

"Compensation? Song Xia, you were the one who said you wanted to leave yesterday, and you still want compensation from the company?"

"I didn't say I wanted to leave. I just don't accept work outside my job description, nor do I accept overtime without pay. Supervisor Mei, since the company hasn't fired me, then the company should provide me with the necessary working conditions. How am I supposed to clock in and out? How am I supposed to continue working?"

“I told you long ago that the company doesn’t need you. You resigned voluntarily yesterday, and I approved it. Please leave the company immediately.”

Song Xia stared directly at him, the recording on her phone still running: "I am leaving against my will, please provide me with compensation."

Mei Wei picked up the phone: "Since you're not leaving, then we'll have to have someone ask you to leave."

A few minutes later, two security guards from the industrial park arrived at the door and, at Mei Wei's insistence, forcefully made Song Xia leave.

What else could Song Xia do but leave "forced"? In the following days, she not only came to the industrial park as usual, but also filmed herself being stopped while others were allowed to enter normally. She then compiled the videos and submitted them to the labor arbitration committee, demanding compensation from the company.

In addition to severance pay, she also applied for overtime pay, even though the overtime pay application might not be fully approved. However, she was confident that she would receive severance pay.

She had worked for this company for several years, and this compensation should be enough to get through this period of time.

I really have to thank Shabi Company and Shabi Meiwei for their cooperation, otherwise I would have had to resign voluntarily, since I can't do this kind of stupid job.

After finishing these tasks, it was already the weekend. Song Xia bought some vegetables and fruits to go back to her parents' house.

Before leaving, she made a point of locking the door. She had a feeling that Sun Xiurong would start throwing away her things in the next couple of days. Let her throw them away, throw them all away. After all, there weren't any nice clothes or valuables in the room. She locked the door just to let people watch the show.

Knowing that she was coming back for dinner, Hua Ling had been busy since early morning at the Song family's house. Song Shunguo also specially swapped shifts with his colleagues and killed a chicken to bring back.

Ye Tingting was the only one in the house who was sullen and, as if venting her frustration, grabbed the vegetables that Hua Ling had asked her to pick.

"She's just coming back for a visit, why are you all going through all this trouble?" Ye Tingting complained on behalf of her grandparents. "Grandpa, you haven't slept all night, and you still went to kill a chicken early this morning. Besides, we didn't even kill a chicken for your birthday last time, so why should we do this just because she said she was coming..."

“Tingting, she is still your mother. It wasn’t easy for her to marry over there.”

"So, does that mean it's easy for us?" Ye Tingting was particularly depressed, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything more hurtful.

"So your mother now knows to change, and we should give her that chance."

Ye Tingting remained silent, and Hua Ling sighed, "Tingting, your mother neglected you too much before, but maybe she just hadn't gotten over that hurdle yet. She said she's figured it out now, so why don't we give it a try?"

"There's no need to treat her with such formality."

Hua Ling smiled and said, "These are all ingredients that your mother brought back a few days ago. Your grandfather just went to kill a chicken and buy some vegetables."

Ye Tingting snorted again and muttered under her breath, "Maybe it's something they couldn't finish or didn't want to eat over there, like the clothes and shoes they gave to Grandpa."

"Tingting, what did you say?"

"nothing."

"Then go change into the clothes your mom bought for you a few days ago. Your mom will be happy to see you wearing them."

"Why should I care about her feelings?" Despite saying this, Ye Tingting returned to her room after finishing preparing the vegetables.

Opening the wardrobe, she found two outfits that stood out from the rest: one was a simple and comfortable tracksuit, and the other was a crisp pair of jeans and a white shirt. Both outfits were from brands that her classmates were reluctant to buy often.

Although they don't look fancy, compared to these two outfits, the other clothes in her closet immediately appear dull and lifeless, making the empty closet seem less shabby.

Ye Tingting paused for a moment, then changed into light-colored jeans and a white shirt. After changing, she looked at herself in the mirror again and again.

I must say, that woman has a good eye. But such light colors are easy to get dirty, aren't they? And it's almost the end of the season, and these two outfits won't last long. With that money, she could have bought medicine for her grandmother.

And if I buy it at just the right price, will I still be able to wear it if I grow taller next year?

At this moment, Ye Tingting felt very complicated. She felt bitter because her mother had bought her clothes and even knew her size, but she also felt resentful because her mother hadn't cared about her for so many years and now she was trying to take care of her.

She desperately wanted to take off her clothes, but because Hua Ling called her in time, she went out dressed like that. Ye Tingting felt extremely uncomfortable: "Grandma, why did you call me?"

"That's really nice." Hua Ling looked her over again and again, her eyes glistening with tears. "A young girl should always dress so beautifully and neatly."

"Help Grandma go downstairs to throw out a bag of trash, and while you're at it, check if your mom has arrived yet."

Ye Tingting silently accepted the trash. She was fine with throwing it away, but she didn't really want to see her mother.

But sometimes things just happen by chance. She had just taken the trash downstairs when she saw Song Xia struggling to carry some things toward her.

"Tingting!" Song Xia exclaimed in surprise. Now Ye Tingting couldn't pretend she didn't know her.
