Chapter 468 The Space Pirate's Mother

"Sorry? What's the use of saying sorry now?"

Almost instantly, the two exchanged blows, their movements creating afterimages. Everyone around was startled, but no one dared to step forward.

Rogge's combat prowess is well-known throughout Mist Star, but at this moment, there is someone other than the vice-captain who is fighting Rogge to a standstill, which makes people curious about who this person is.

Roger went all out, and Ling Chengrong showed no mercy either; the two of them almost broke through the building.

When Song Xia arrived, the two were both badly injured. They were quite surprised to see Ling Chengrong. What was he doing here?

"Stop." She quickly separated the two men, who were now only weak.

Roger was panting heavily, while Ling Chengrong stared intently at her. A guess was forming in his mind, but he couldn't be sure. How could this be?

How can someone improve their martial arts skills so quickly without any prior foundation? Especially their demeanor, it's completely unlike anyone else's.

Having served in the army for many years, he had developed a knack for recognizing people, especially his wife of many years. Although her temperament and appearance had changed drastically, he would never mistake her for anyone else.

No wonder there has been no news of Song Xia for so many years. If she had found Wen Ye long ago and stayed by his side, it would make sense.

Despite the scorching gaze, Song Xia didn't turn around. Instead, she helped Rogge up and asked, "Want to come to my place?"

Roger stared at Ling Chengrong and sneered, but ultimately did not order his subordinates to arrest the man.

The quiet and cozy little house now has two more people. Ling Chengrong immediately noticed the group photo on the display shelf. Standing in the very center was the woman who appeared to be his wife, Song Xia, and his son, Wen Ye.

The three sat down, each occupying a different spot, and no one spoke.

Song Xia was actually very curious about what grudge Rogge and Ling Chengrong had. If they were really mortal enemies, why didn't they have Ling Chengrong arrested earlier?

Meeting Ling Chengrong's gaze, she silently lowered her head. As expected of the Federation's First Marshal, he was indeed perceptive.

"Now that you've found Wenye, why didn't you go back in the first place?"

"As expected." Roger chuckled. "Looks like I guessed right."

He then turned to Ling Chengrong and asked, "In my territory, do you think you can come and go as you please?"

"I can come to the rescue."

“Ling Chengrong,” Song Xia finally spoke, “you might be capable now, but you wouldn’t have been back then. Wasting Federation resources for personal feelings, do you think I would believe you?”

Rogge looked at Ling Chengrong mockingly again: "It seems that I am not the only one who knows your true nature, and you underestimate me too much. Even if your entire First Legion came, it would be impossible for you to take your son and leave Mist Star unscathed."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "But I'm curious, why did you come alone this time, given your past inaction?"

"The Federation no longer needs me," Ling Chengrong said sincerely. "After serving for so many years, shouldn't I consider my own interests more?"

"Why should you get to choose again?" Roger's face twisted with anger. "Ling Chengrong, I won't give you another chance to choose. Your wife is now the vice-captain of my Fog Sea Pirate Crew, and your son is a little pirate I raised from a young age. I won't allow them to go with you."

Song Xia was unaware of their past grievances and simply nodded: "Ye'er and I won't leave. There's nothing wrong with being pirates."

Ling Chengrong wanted to retort, but thinking about what the mother and son had gone through over the years, he felt that he didn't have the right to retort, so he nodded: "From now on, you just need to do what you like to do."

Song Xia was confused. How could Ling Chengrong have changed so much? What setback had he suffered? Was he possessed by a ghost?

Seeing the disbelief in her eyes, Ling Chengrong explained again: "I am the one who has wronged you and your son. From now on, I only want to make it up to you, so I will not stop you from doing anything that goes against your wishes."

"The mighty Marshal Ling, actually has such a reasonable day? What if your wife remarries me?" Roger said with a wicked smile.

Ling Chengrong frowned: "We are not divorced yet, and I will not agree to a divorce."

"Divorce? Your wife's name is Song Xia, but I'm marrying Xia Song, the vice-captain of our pirate crew. What does that have to do with you?"

"You just said you were my wife."

Rogge fell silent at this rebuttal. Song Xia almost burst out laughing. She never expected that Rogge, who was always so cunning, would be so dumbfounded and speechless after being refuted.

"Alright, Roger, stop fooling around."

“I wasn’t making a scene.” Roger’s expression turned serious. “My previous feelings weren’t fake, and it wasn’t to deliberately provoke Ling Chengrong. I genuinely admire you.”

This heartfelt confession made Ling Chengrong nervous again, fearing he might hear something he didn't want to hear from Song Xia.

"I already gave you my answer, and it remains unchanged."

The three fell silent again, and Ling Chengrong's heart suddenly felt lighter.

"So now can you tell me what's going on between you two?" Song Xia was genuinely curious, so she couldn't help but ask.

Roger's eyes turned sinister again as he stared intently at Ling Chengrong.

Ling Chengrong slowly began, "We grew up together, went to school together, and joined the army together."

Song Xia raised an eyebrow, looking as if she had just guessed it. She had suspected it earlier, and she was right. Life is indeed full of drama.

"We met a girl named Lettia when we were in school..."

Song Xia's thoughts wandered. Something wasn't right. These weren't the names of Wen Bang and Wen Ying's mother.

"Laetia is the daughter of the leader of the Fog Sea Pirates. She deliberately infiltrated our school, but unfortunately, none of us knew. Then she became lovers with Roger."

So that's how it is. Song Xia could almost guess what would happen next. Since she was the daughter of the pirate captain, how could Ling Chengrong, a federal soldier, let her go? Even though they had become friends by then.

"When I discovered Letia's identity, she was stealing military intelligence. According to the law, I could only arrest her. Roger was also there at the time and begged me to let Letia go, but I didn't. I also suspected that Roger might break her out of prison."

As he spoke, Ling Chengrong's voice became sorrowful: "But I didn't expect that Letiya's father would also come, and this was all an ambush set by the military. In the end, Letiya chose to commit suicide so that her father could leave safely."

Roger said emotionally, "If you hadn't been so rigid in the first place, Lettia wouldn't have been locked up, her father wouldn't have come, and she wouldn't have committed suicide."

"Feel sorry."

Roger slammed his fist on the table: "Besides saying those two words, what else can you do?"

Song Xia remained silent. She couldn't say that Ling Chengrong was wrong, since they had different positions, nor could she say that Luo Ge's hatred was unreasonable, since he was his lover. She could only say that things are unpredictable.
