After the Zhuang family's wedding banquet, Song Xia treated her regular customers to a free meal at the snack shop. Many customers who didn't know the situation also received the same treatment when they came to the shop that day.
Besides snacks, the dinner table that day also featured many delicacies she had never sold before, leaving everyone feeling both satisfied and wistful, because they knew that after today's meal, they might never be able to eat them again.
However, everyone was very considerate. In order to make room for the next person, they all left as soon as they finished eating. Those who had eaten at noon did not come back for a second meal in the evening. Song Xia did not accept gifts, so some guests quietly left the small gifts they had bought.
It was a very busy day, and even Wei Zhu and Zhuang Bo didn't get a break. But after finishing, everyone was very happy and felt a sense of accomplishment. Next was the gift-opening session. Even though Song Xia had specifically instructed that no one should give anything, quite a few guests still left their gifts.
The gifts were all very thoughtful, including a painted portrait of a newlywed couple, an exquisite and cute figurine, and a paper-cut of the entire snack shop, including the owner and staff.
"This is great." Song Xia held the paper-cutting with great delight. "I didn't expect these old neighbors to have such skills. I'll find a frame to hang it in the shop tomorrow."
"I'm taking this to the office." Wei Zhu really liked the painting, which contained everyone's blessings for her and Zhuang Bo.
After everything was packed up, it was nearly midnight. Wei Zhu gave the four employees red envelopes and candy boxes that she had specially prepared, and the four of them were overjoyed.
After getting married, Song Xia and Wei Zhu's lives returned to normal. In the third year of their marriage, Wei Zhu became pregnant, and the two decided to buy a house. With the housing prices falling, they calculated that after paying the down payment, their housing provident fund could fully cover the loan. So they bought a three-bedroom apartment near their workplace.
The house is a second-hand house. The previous owner was also a government employee. Seeing that the house prices are falling, he was eager to sell, so he gave them a very favorable price.
Although the economic situation suggests that housing prices may still fall, the couple did not want their child to be born in a rented apartment. Although the apartment was a second-hand property, the original owner had maintained it very well. They hired a housekeeping company to do a deep cleaning so they could move in directly, saving on renovation costs.
After buying the house, the couple brought Mr. Zhuang from the countryside. Both of them had to work, and after Wei Zhu finished her maternity leave, he would have to help take care of the child, so it was good to bring him over as soon as possible to help him adapt to the new environment.
On the other hand, Wei Deng also started taking the civil service exam after graduation. He didn't have many courses in his senior year, so he started reviewing early on. He was also afraid of wasting his energy if he failed the first time and had to continue studying, so he studied quite hard and finally passed on his first try, just as he wished.
After being officially hired, Weiden reverted to his lazy nature, as if he had exhausted all his energy during his university years.
Seeing that he had no intention of dating or getting married, Song Xia simply transferred the 400,000 yuan she had promised him early on, and then Wei Deng transferred 30,000 yuan back.
Song Xia thought that this was how Wei Deng's life would be, and she thought it was pretty good. He was free and unrestrained, without pressure or burden, and the state would take care of him when he got old.
But she never expected that Wei Deng would be chosen by a rich young lady. The rich young lady was the only daughter in her family. She wanted to marry Wei Deng for no other reason than that he was handsome and had a job in the system so she wasn't afraid of him having any diseases or doing bad things. As for Wei Deng's lazy nature, that was not a problem. They had a nanny. The only requirement was that the first child born to the woman's family should take the woman's family name.
Song Xia never cared about whose surname the child should take. Besides, the woman had contributed more to the marriage and suffered more during childbirth, so wasn't it only natural that the child should take the woman's surname?
Now Wei Deng is giving up too. He's lazy and doesn't want to take care of the child in the future, and his mother won't either. It will basically be the responsibility of his wife, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. So, he can just let the child take his wife's surname.
The woman's family was overjoyed. Other families were afraid to take care of children, but they loved children. They would take care of the child after birth, and the child would be close to them in the future. How wonderful!
My daughter has made a good choice in her husband. Although he's not very ambitious, he has a job in the public sector, which is respectable. Besides, they like sons-in-law who aren't ambitious, lazy and obedient. That way, my daughter won't suffer in the future. Moreover, her in-laws don't cause any trouble.
In the end, the wedding was entirely organized by the bride's family. After attending the wedding, Song Xia exclaimed that lazy people have good fortune, and Wei Deng was truly lucky.
One day after their marriage, Wei Deng and his wife attended a banquet, but unexpectedly they saw Mo Ru there. Although Mo Ru was dressed up, she was very careful to flatter the man who brought her in. When the two met, Mo Ru's face stiffened, while Wei Deng only glanced at her and turned away, pretending not to know her.
After the banquet, Mo Ru waited in the parking lot, hoping to chat with Wei Deng. However, Wei Deng calmly recounted his past relationship with her to his wife without saying much more, showing that he had already moved on. The only one who couldn't let go was Mo Ru, who was unwilling to accept it.
"I think she's quite pretty, why did you explain it to me?"
“Troublesome.” Weiden scoffed. “I’m perfectly content with my life now and don’t want to change.”
Lin Jie chuckled softly, thinking to herself that she had indeed made the right choice in choosing her husband. Everyone said that it was not worth it for her to marry down, but they did not know that if she had married at the same level or up, she would definitely not be as happy as she is now. Most importantly, the child would not have taken her surname. Wei Deng is good-looking, and although his job does not pay much, it is respectable. Moreover, his mother-in-law and sister-in-law never cause trouble. Her family is not short of money and does not aspire to be a billionaire. It is so good as it is now.
Although Weiden is lazy, he doesn't need to work or earn money at home. The housework is done by a nanny. As long as Weiden doesn't cheat, he's fine. Now it seems that for someone who hates trouble, cheating is also a kind of trouble in Weiden's mind.
