Chapter 138 The Vulgar Real and Fake Rich Moms

Song Xia really didn't know how to comment on the Cheng family. Since they already knew that their daughter had been switched at birth, they could still remain so calm, and didn't even show up in person, only sending a junior assistant to pick her up. They really had a big ego.

No wonder the Cheng family has been declining all these years. They didn't even know their child was being schemed against, and they can't even find out where their child is. They still don't care at all.

But despite placing such importance on business, the Cheng family's business hasn't improved at all!

"Since you say you're not a fraudster, then I'd like to trouble your boss, who's making a fortune, to come here in person. It would be best if you brought the police with you, otherwise I won't believe it."

"Mom, don't talk to that kind of liar anymore." Song Wenwen glared at her assistant. "Aren't you going to get out?"

The assistant's face darkened: "Miss, you'll regret this."

"I don't regret anything. I'm perfectly fine. If you don't get out of here, I'm calling the police."

The assistant, feeling uneasy after failing to get things done, called Cheng Shizhang.

"How so?" Yu Peiyan asked, holding her wine glass.

"The child didn't believe it and even drove away the people we sent."

"Ignorant." Yu Peiyan's voice turned cold. "Who would bother to deceive a little girl?"

"She is still our daughter. Now that the banquet is over, shall we go there ourselves?"

"What a waste of time."

The couple reached an agreement again. After saying goodbye to the Ji family, they let Cheng Zhibo take Cheng Zhili back, while they went to the night market in a luxury car.

Cars can't drive into the night market, and looking at the noisy crowd and the oil stains on the ground, Yu Peiyan just couldn't bring herself to get out of the car.

She took a deep breath and remained seated: "Go and bring the person here."

Cheng Shizhang wasn't as particular as his wife, and although he didn't like the environment here either, he had no choice but to go.

Song Xia and her group's stall was in the center of the night market. It was a busy time for the night market, and there were still many people queuing up. He looked at the busy girls and frowned with heartache.

Song Wenwen glanced at him, and although she found it strange that someone dressed in a suit and with hair wax would come to the night market, she didn't look at him much and only estimated: "It will probably take another half hour to queue."

"Stop doing it. I came here specifically to find you. The person you called a swindler was also sent by me."

Song Wenwen scoffed, "Oh, there are quite a few scammers today. Go away, don't disturb my business."

Cheng Shizhang frowned: "You're a girl, don't be so rude."

"You need to be polite to a scammer? What a joke!"

Cheng Shizhang took a deep breath: "How much stock do you have left? I'll buy it all."

"Can't you see how many people are in line? I want to be at the back of the line."

“I really am your biological father. The family has already called a doctor, and we can do a paternity test anytime.”

"If just anyone comes along and wants to do a paternity test with me, how am I supposed to handle that?"

"Who would joke like that? Come back to the Cheng family with me. This is not a place for you."

"Oh, there's regional discrimination here too? What's wrong with this place? Why can't I stay here? I, Song Wenwen, grew up here, and I'm happy to stay here."

Song Xia sighed slightly. Wenwen rarely spoke so bluntly; it seemed she was a little flustered.

"Sir, I don't know why you're saying this, but Wenwen is my biological daughter. Please don't talk nonsense here." She couldn't say she knew the truth now, so she could only act as if she didn't know.

To her, Cheng Shizhang's tone was no longer as kind as before. He sneered, "You're still pretending to be innocent? If you hadn't switched the two children, how could my Cheng family's daughter have ended up here?"

Song Wenwen was utterly speechless. She was doing just fine, wasn't she? Why would she need to use the word "fallen"?

"I switched the children?" Song Xia was so angry she laughed. It seemed the Cheng family hadn't figured out the specifics yet.

"Sir, you can't just say things like that. If you arbitrarily accuse someone, I can sue you."

"I didn't even call the police, and you still dare to sue me?"

Song Xia took out her phone: "Then let's call the police. You came here and tried to take my daughter away, and even said that I switched the children. Let the police judge this."

Cheng Shizhang frowned: "I can do a paternity test."

"That should be handled by the police. Please move aside, we have customers waiting for our barbecue."

“You… are so unreasonable and domineering, and you only earn this little money? Child, don’t do it, this is not what you should be doing.”

"Who cares about you?" Song Wenwen lowered her head to grill skewers, no longer giving Cheng Shizhang a second glance.

Cheng Shizhang felt neglected and stood to the side, feeling extremely uncomfortable. He could only vent his anger on his assistant: "Look at you, you can't even handle such a small matter properly."

The assistant hesitated, "Then I'll go queue up and buy the rest?"

"If you knew what to do, why didn't you do it earlier?"

Just as it was their turn to join the assistants, the police arrived. Song Xia and Song Wenwen handed the stall over to the barbecue chef who came out of the shop behind them and went to file a report.

"It's them! They inexplicably claimed I wasn't my mother's biological child, and that my mother switched the babies. I think they're both liars," Song Wenwen said indignantly. They ruined her good mood all evening; just seeing them annoyed her.

"Is what she said true? Please show me your ID." The police officer was strictly adhering to the rules and showed no politeness to Cheng Shizhang.

Cheng Shizhang didn't move. The assistant eagerly handed him his own, along with a business card: "This is mine. Our chairman didn't bring his ID card today. You can check it to find out who our chairman is."

There are many powerful and influential people in City C. Although the police could easily find out the truth through investigation, they did not show any particular surprise.

"What do you mean by 'the children were switched at birth'?"

"It means exactly what it says. According to our investigation, this young lady is our chairman's biological daughter."

Song Wenwen frowned deeply. This person didn't seem like a swindler, but how could she be his daughter?

"Don't be afraid, Mom is here." Song Xia put her arm around her daughter's shoulder, her voice soft but reassuring.

Song Wenwen nodded. That's right. Mom will always be there for you. No matter what this person's purpose is, you can't leave your mother's side.

"Do you know what happened?" the police officer asked the mother and daughter again.

“I don’t know. My daughter has grown up with me since she was little. I gave birth to her in the hospital. I still have her birth certificate. How could she be someone else’s child? This person even said that I switched the child with someone else’s. I don’t believe it at all.”

"In that case, you'll all come with me to the police station."

Cheng Shizhang frowned. He had thought he could take his daughter away by coming in person, but he didn't expect it to escalate to the police station. Wouldn't this cause a big fuss? His wife would be unhappy then.

Sure enough, Yu Peiyan, who was waiting at the entrance of the night market, became even colder when she realized she still had to go to the police station.

Watching from afar, Song Wenwen tightened her grip on Song Xia's hand. "Mom is the best," she thought. "This woman is so cold and serious. How could she possibly be her daughter?"
